  1. I dont think Morgan was ever a real consideration for the Twins who seem to pride themselves on the quality of individuals in the organization as much as the quality of their play. Bartlett. Jason Bartlett's roster spot changed the CF picture for the Twins. I'm sure that the Twins didnt know they'd be bringing Bartlett north in mid-January. That's pre-TwinsFest.
  2. Guys, Pedro Florimon walked. He WALKED. Be more excited about this. And then he scored becasue Dozier is battling leadoff. Doze looks good at the top of the lineup.
  3. I think the Twins can hope to be within a few games of .500 at the end of May, but I don't think there's any hope of this team competeing for 2nd in the division. They could, however, battle for 3rd, and that's a lot better than fighting for last with the B@#$H Sox
  4. Don't let MLB find out you taped the games, they're new marketing strategy is to prevent fans from enjoying games in ways they don't have to pay for.
  5. The new description for the Talk to Contact podcast will look something like this "We run a podcast that features discussion of professional baseball played by a team whose stadium has been paid for in large part by the people of Minnesota, and is played in a league for which there is no higher. We also discuss the minor league affiliates of said team, but in no way to we have an endorsement of or by said team or league." We're keeping it classy.
  6. MLB hates independent podcasters who have apparently breached trademark laws by citing they have a "Minnesota Twins" podcast. MLB, I love you, but I also hate you.
  7. For the link to the Talk to Contact Episode featuring Trevor May click HERE! For a taste of Trevor May's alterego, DJ MAZZR, click HERE!
  8. Cody, if I had the chance to watch one minor league game in person tomorrow, would you recommend catching the Red Wings in Columbus or the Kernels in Wisconsin? (based soley on the baseball, not the weather, or hatred of all things Wisconsin)
  9. Whats the discussion between Rick Anderson and Ron Gardenhire concerning Jaron Burton?
  10. glunn edit -- not the place to discuss moderation. The Twins have been known to be big in Australia, they seem to continue to pull young Aussies across the ocean and develop them all the way up to the big leagues, hopefully some of those Aussies can find a permanent home at MLB level. Bill Smith, for all the griping I've done about him over the years, did oversee some quality international acquisitions, and with so much talent in baseball coming from the international market, I really should give him a repreive. The Twins have a lot of young talent in the organization, and I'm excited to watch these young men, especially the international guys, develop. A guy like Lewis Thorpe would be a great story to follow in the coming years, and Polanco? Yes please. I think he can stick at SS too, hopefully he proves to the Twins that he can.
  11. While I don't particularly enjoy Gladden during his solo innings, I quite enjoy Provus and the Provus/Gladden combo is my favorite. The magic man used to grate my ear drums, but I've either peaked and tuned my ears properly to enjoy his broadcast, or I've just become immune to his spunk. Either way, I'm fully enjoying the radio broadcast.
  12. Enjoyed the article JC (you'll always be JC to me, no matter what "regular folks" call you in real life). Slegers looks like a solid young product. I'll have to keep my eye on the box scores to see how he progresses this season. What kind of prediction would you make concerning his promotion to A+ this season (date?)?
  13. News Release: A great cry of joy was heard coming from the apartment of a local Seattle man, who, after listening to the most recent episode of Gleeman and the Geek, a Minnesoa Twins themed, alcohol fueld podcast, begain shouting for joy because there was not a single mention of John's reoccuring gout flare-ups. The Seattle man had only this to say "Any day that John is gout free, is a good day to be a Twins fan, hashtag it's happening."
  14. I love the excitement that Dozier brings to this team, both offensively and defensively. I like Dozier in the lead off spot. I like Byron Buxton and the hope and promise of a great young prospect, but I don't like this talk of just waiting for Buxton to assume his role as the consummate leadoff hitter. I'll take everyday of Brian Dozier I can get until Buxton FORCES HIM OUT OF THE LEADOFF SPOT. Prospects will break your heart. Give me the here and now and let the young guys develop in the minors.
  15. Nothing of real interest here, just amazing to me how far away it seems from Joe Mauer's magical 2009 campaign. Losing seasons, especially when the team is losing bad, seem to stretch time into infinity. Waiting for next season takes a long time when you have to start waiting early in the season. This must be sort of what it feels like to be a Cubs fan.
  16. The sun didn't do anything for the Twins when it was out for the home opener, and I sure don't expect it will do the team any good when the team is playing through July and August either at home or on the road. Vitamin D. That's what the sun's good for, and not a lot else.
  17. 29th is better than 31st. If the rotation and some how get their combined ERA below 5 I'd personally buy every Twins fan at Zayda Buddy's in Seattle an ice cold Grain Belt Premium in celebration
  18. I never could. I can't understand why Gardy loves him so much. I can't understand why the front office lets Gardy keep him for so long, and I can't understand why the Pohlads are happy with the front office keeping gardy keeping Rick Anderson.
  19. Looking at the K/9 rates for the AL/NL over the last seven years, it comes about to about .3 less strikeouts per game in the AL over the NL, but that's over all numbers, not looking at guys who have pitched NL vs Al or vice versa. Nolasco has never been a strikeout pitcher. I don't except him to put up 10K outings now. I don't expect that number to remain sub 5 K/9, but I don't expect him to push that back up towards his career high, 9.5 (2009). I'm more interested to see if Ricky can get anywhere near 200 innings this season. If he pitches 200 (unlikely) and strikes out 150 that puts him at 6.75 K/9, and that's a rate I'd be very happy to see from ANY Twins pitcher.
  20. The most interesting part of this thread, to me, has been the talk of flip-flopping Mauer and Dozier in the 1/2 slots. That's interesting and intreaguing with the power Dozier has displayed the last half-season plus. I wouldn't want to see Dozier moved any further down the lineup, nor Mauer. I think those two guys at the top of the lineup is the right call, in either order, but I like the speed of Dozier leading off. Dozier gives you that advantage of taking more bases on the Joe Mauer singles/doubles that are sure to come.
  21. I like Morris more than I like Bert. Bert's fun, and we know his voice/style, but I think there's better broadcasters. Not so much an indictment against Bert as a show of support for Morris. I usually go for the radio broadcast anyways, I enjoy Provus/Gladden considerably more than Dick/Bert.
  22. I'm not completely adverse to moving Fuld to the top of the order, he's getting on base over 30% this season and has looked good since joining the Twins, but in 2012 he posted a .270 OBP and his career OBP is only .313. Ideally Fuld is not the everyday CF for this team, but with Hicks still looking lost (and battling a concussion), I've got to stop living in a ideal world. With Mauer out moving Fuld to the 2 spot is a good place. My main argument against Fuld at leadoff is Brian Dozier. There's no reason to move him from the leadoff spot. He's getting on base at a great clip, he's stealing bases, he's doing everything you want him to be doing as a lead off hitter. I'm not sure he'll sustain this HR rate. And using the "team leading HR hitter" argument is more an admonishment of the rest of this lineup than a reason to move Doizer. Having a leadoff hitter who hits 20+ HR isn't a bad thing. They're not all going to come as leadoff HRs. You want your best hitters getting the most at bats, and the leadoff guy gets the most at bats. Let Dozier keep putting in his work at the top of the lineup.
  23. Brad Swanson loves Eduardo Escobar. Do you love him too? #Eddie400 Will Escobar end the season with more or less than 400 at bats?
  24. Jeremy last week you said some very not-mean things about the starting rotation. This week they were better, some of them anyways. Tell me some not so nice things about the rotation as a whole, and then give me a reason to think they will regress towards something more positive.
