  1. Let us pray that you are correct! And a run or two would also be nice.
  2. I agree. But maybe a three team trade could end up with Ryan getting a starting pitcher. I think that Shane makes an excellent point here, and if Marquis is pitching well, he might also have trade value. Also, Benson and Hicks don't seem to be doing well enough in the minors to be ready to come up. On the other hand, Revere is a great fielder and is fun to watch.
  3. Look at the bright side -- with 110 losses the Twins should get the #1 draft pick.
  4. I had the same experience in Anaheim, and the Twins did not even get a single hit that night. The team seemed to be just going through the motions -- not enjoying the honor of being MLB players.
  5. With the new stadium and all, it's too bad that the Twins were not willing to pay for BOTH Cuddyer and Willingham. The pitching would still suck, but having one extra quality right handed batter might have resulted in a lot more runs.
  6. CDog, if the Twins get the AAA affiliate in Vegas, I will take you to a game. They have a great stadium, and living art galleries nearby.
  7. Does Carroll have a good enough arm to play third base? And I agree with those who feel that it would be better to wait until Valencia has more value and the Twins have someone decent to replace him at third base.
  8. How sharp? Bromberg's AA stats don't look great -- his WHIP is 1.35 and his era is 5.29 with only 17 innings pitched, per MLB website for New Britain.
  9. The ideal match would be a contender that needs a good centerfielder and who has a surplus of decent starters in its system. I would be happy to get a top rated AAA starter who is young and who strikes people out, plus one or two AA or A level starters who have decent upside. Would this be asking for too much?
  10. It is a sad comment on our farm system that there have been no responses to this thread. Aaron Hicks threw 94 mph in high school, but wanted to play outfield. He has not been a great hitter, and if he does not do well this year, maybe he should be asked to try pitching.
  11. If Hicks can't make it as a hitter, would it be worth trying him as a pitcher? He threw 94 mph in high school, and he is older and possibly stronger now.
  12. Almost one walk per inning will likely catch up with him eventually -- his WHIP is not nearly as good as his era -- but I have nothing but love for anyone on our staff who can maintain an era under 5. I would much rather lose 5 to 0 than 7 to 0 or 9 to 0. When are we going to score more than 3 runs in a game?
  13. Gray gave up a run tonight -- which raised his era to 2.38. He has now given up 3 runs in 11.1 innings pitched. Maloney also gave up a run tonight -- which raised his era to 8.18. He has now given up 10 runs in 11 innings pitched.
  14. Great article. It sounds like Sano needs to work harder on his defense.
  15. Gray has an era of 2.38. Why not keep him at least until he gets to 2.39?
  16. At least we got one hit.
  17. I cannot bear to watch another inning of this.
  18. You indeed jinxed the bullpen -- I am blaming you as I watch them implode in Seattle. We need to be more careful what we say on here.
  19. I like your idea of trotting out the bench players when the Twins are getting blown out so that we can give them a chance. And since the Twins have been getting blown out a LOT, it does seem like they should have played more. I wonder how many at bats a player should get before being sent down? Or is it enough to see that a player is not even coming close to having good at bats? I wish that Gardenhire was reading this thread.
  20. At this point, almost any possible callup would feel like a good thing.
  21. Whether or not this is true, I think that we would have at least 3 fewer losses this year with Cuddyer in right field (and Willingham in left). Cuddyer is a lot better than the players who we have had in right this year. Too bad the Twins could not afford BOTH Willingham and Cuddyer.
  22. The Mariners' announcers were clearly hoping for the no hitter and were disappointed when Span broke it up.
  23. I am more worried about two no hitters against us on the same road trip.
  24. I have been thinking the same thing -- but we still have a lot of games to lose to get that pick, and playing in the Central, we might not be able to get enough losses to beat out San Diego and the other weak teams.
  25. Great article -- thanks for writing this.
