  1. Not to worry. I was the only one billing by the minute.
  2. Youngstown? I would rather conquer Scranton, PA.
  3. I just signed in after a long but productive phone call, just in time for the Twins' first run. Let's hope for a blowout tonight to make up for the Miami debacle.
  4. Great article -- thanks for posting it.
  5. Fortunately (?) for me, there are so many other depressing developments in my life that this one is on the back burner.
  6. This is a depressing series, but if we are patient, I am hoping that we will have a lot to be happy about as time passes and the prospects get better.
  7. That is a good idea. This was a game that I expected the Twins to win. But on any given day...
  8. Well I rushed home to see a rally that is not looking good.
  9. This is going to be sickening if the Twins do not win.
  10. That's what people say until they need saving -- then they sing a different tune.
  11. Yes, with all that water freezing into ice, the slip and fall lawyers would vote Brian into their hall of fame.
  12. You should be careful to keep your day job my friend. Your #1 would be very limiting and your #2 would result in lots of slip and fall litigation (and soggy hot dogs and peanuts). I like your #4, so long as those walls are thickly padded, especially at the top.
  13. That's your choice by picking A over C.
  14. The irony here is that I rarely drink alcohol, and when I do drink it's almost always vodka.
  15. That one is easy -- C is the correct choice unless you crave suffering.
  16. I am thinking of getting a smartphone. Would the Apple be the best for accessing TD?
  17. Thanks Jeremy. Another excellent minor league report.
  18. You need to distinguish between making policy and enforcing it. Moderators don't make policy. We are given a say in policy but the final decisions are made by the admins. I have great respect for Brock and the other admins and all of our debates are friendly and respectful, and I know that my concerns were heard and given due consideration. Now that there is a policy against excessive negativity, I will be enforcing such policy with the same zeal as I try to enforce every other policy. I would also emphasize John's point about allowing more leeway for negativity when it is phrased politely and with respect for others -- I believe that if people take this to heart then members with negative thoughts will be able to make their points while preserving the tone that makes TD better than unmoderated sites.
  19. As a moderator my job is to enforce TD policy not make it. Now that there is a policy against excessive negativity, I will be enforcing such policy. I had my say in the debate about this and such debate is over.
  20. Great report. Taking into account the long drive on short notice, I appreciate the performance of Pedro Hernandez today. I am also hoping that Buxton continues to rise.
  21. I am glad that Gibson is getting his chance. This thread highlights the fact that there will always be conflict between fans who sincerely and passionately believe that the front office is incompetent and fans who sincerely and passionately believe that the front office is competent. It understand that some of the comments about bringing up a position player could be upsetting to members who just want to celebrate the good news. At the moment, I personally would rather not have my celebration interrupted by more complaining about the FO. However, I have read the TD policy MANY times and unless complaining about the FO rises to the level of trolling, and so long as the complainers are respectful, I believe that we need to be tolerant of complaining. I believe that tolerance for the "complaining" of others is very important, because it seems to me that both sides of this debate are sincere. Some of our most intelligent and articulate members appear to sincerely believe that the FO has made many major mistakes that they deserve strong criticism. Often, I disagree with these criticizers and get tired of their posts. But on balance I am glad that they are here. The criticizers keep us all honest by bringing up points that might otherwise be ignored. I would ask only that we all make a renewed effort to be respectful, keeping in mind that we are all fans of the same team.
  22. I am going to have to record the rest of this game -- must leave now to see a movie. Have fun my friends.
