I'm not saying you're wrong. What I was trying to say was spend the money on someone(s) not named Machado. I didn't convey that well.

Machado is tempting. Heck of a talent. Don't really like him as a person. And think the Twins would be wise to spend his $30+ million per year on 2-4 different players. Wonder if Machado is kinda like a Pierzynski type. Where you like him when he's on your team, but loathe him when he's not. Oriole fans may have more of a insight on that.

Couple her with Morneau, and its M&M all over again! Honestly her or LaPanta would have to be shoe in's for Bremer's seat one would think.

    I like this.

Outdoor baseball in October/November seems to work out ok for the Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs.

    Super utility player/manager.
  8. Puckett34
Joe Espada, Sandy Alomar, Mike Redmond. Probably in that order.

I approve of this message. Flip those bats, celebrate strikeouts

Agreed 1000% on Scioscia and Showalter.

If they had parted amicably after last season, I'd say make a play for Dougie Baseball. Managed Buxton and Sano in the minors I believe. Doubt he'd come here now. But I've been calling for him since Gardy was fired.

Color me surprised a little bit on this one. I'm not shocked, but wow. What are some potential replacements?

I'm going to miss Joe Mauer. Glad I was there to witness it first hand on Sunday. In regards to his HOF consideration. I think that he is at minimum worthy of consideration. Just his 9+ seasons as a catcher alone, he is worthy. 1st ballot does he get in? I don't think he will, and he won't. JAWS has him ranked as the 7th best catcher of all time. He is only 1 of 10 players to play at least half of his games as a backstop to collect 2,000 hits. He's literally at 50%, but still. And of those 10, 6 are Hall of Famers (Ivan Rodriguez, Carlton Fisk, Yogi Berra, Mike Piazza, Gary Carter and Johnny Bench). I've never understood the argument that he hamstrung the Twins with his contract, or blamed him for signing the thing. This is my long way of saying that Joe Mauer is the best pure Twins hitter I have seen in my 32 years and I don't think I'll see a better one in my lifetime. That makes me sad to type and I wish I had appreciated him more when I could.

I selfishly am hoping he returns for at least one more year. I fell this may be a "don't know what you got, 'til it's gone situation". Don't feel I've fully appreciated Joe Mauer's career until very recently. I was always more of a Morneau, Span, Johan, Thome kind of fan. Joe was just always...there. Steady. Not flashy. Taking walks. Hitting doubles instead of dingers. My gut is telling me this is it. Whenever it happens, I will be sad.

Notre Dame national championship incoming in 3 years.

The silver lining of this being the last road trip is that they can't get walked off anymore. What are they up to now, 15 walk off losses? It's the little things.
  17. Puckett34
Personally, I'd keep him. I think he has enough versatility in the OF, 1B, DH to have value on the team. Kiriloff is no sure thing, not that Kepler is. But I'd keep him around.

The Minnesota Twins: Cheap way to see the Yankees, Red Sox and Astros!

    Sweet. Another good bullpen prospect

Fire Gardy! Trade Duensing! Wait, what were we talking about again?
  22. Puckett34
Only 35-4 the rest of the way to reach my prediction. Who's with me?
  23. Puckett34
Gotta be him or Magill, right? Can't imagine Hildy back out there again today.
