  1. David Vassegh (Dodger Talk co-host) current at Winter Meetings, just on radio in LA, said he spoke with Dodger GM Farhan Zaidi in last hour, Dodger offer to Twins still there, but he doesn't see it happening in next 12 hours.
  2. I listened to Dodger talk on 570am in Los Angeles this evening, the host and Dodger insider David Vassegh said Dodgers have what they feel is a very reasonable baseball offer on table for Dozier, but waiting on Twins, as the new Twins regime is hesitant to part with the popular, productive Dozier and this be their first big move.
  3. With Baltimore 6-0 and the Twins 0-7 some kind of Freaky Friday thing happened that opening series, it wont be reversed until a Twin and an Oriole get hit by a pitch the same day
  4. Not a big deal, the Twins can trade Plouffe to the Brewers to get him back
  5. I'm going to guess the Angels with RH RP Trevor Gott one of the players the Twins get in exchange.
  6. I wonder if whom ever is picked, if they would want the other as a bench coach, or would the dynamics of that not work. The bigger question is who would be their (Molitor's or Mint's) choice for a Pitching Coach.
  7. Great game! A's did their own version of the Wil Myers trade with Russell for Samardzija. One team had to go home. Bill Beane was right, the playoffs are a crap shoot. In the long run I think the A's trade(s) will hurt them more. They lose Russell, Cespedes and Lester will leave.
  8. Was it Span or someone else in the last year or two who commented about how he felt micro-managed in Minnesota?
  9. sign Ray Searage
  10. Dereck Rodriquez last year he was an outfielder, this year a pitcher, that was a surprise (and he was very good)
  11. I think Warren Buffett's billion dollars would have been safe here, too, if there had been a contest on March 1 to predict this roster.
  12. That's fine, if you've read my other comments in the past, you know I don't have anything intelligent to contribute, so it was an opportunity to give some insight. Anyway, we all wish Mr. Ryan the best.
  13. Wow, why so snippy, I apologize for my comments if they bothered anyone. I'm a dermatologist and deal with squamous cell carcinoma of the skin everyday. I was just noting that it seemed like more than just a localized skin cancer to have Oncology and Mayo Clinic involved and have press release. I'll leave my commenting to my amatuer baseball knowledge.
  14. Basal cell carcinomas are the mildest and most common form of skin cancers. Squamous cell carcinomas can be more aggresive and metastasis. It's unclear from the press release if the squamous cell carcinoma originated in the skin (they can also arise in mouth, throat, and other body areas lined by squamous cells like the chest, bladder, etc). It says lump in the neck. It may have been a lymph node. So, he may be getting further work up from Oncology for the primary lesion (they imply it is localized-confined to the neck) and possible need for further treatment like radiation and/or chemotherapy. I wish him a full speedy recovery.
  15. Wilkin Ramirez, Chris Colabello, Andrew Albers, Doug Bernier, Eric Fryer, and Shairon Martis-Did anyone have any of these players high on their prospect lists last year? How about a different list, who will make their Twins debut this year (excluding signed free agents) and the order they will appear. 1) Kris Johnson (between Deduno, Diamond and Worley, two will be on DL, other will be traded to Baltimore, of course, so Johnson makes team) 2) Alex Meyer (DL replacement in May or replaces Johnson) 3) Edgar Ibarra ( DL replacement June) 4) Brandon Waring (DL replacement June/July) 5) Trevor May (September call up) 6) Logan Darnell (September call up) 7) Miguel Sano (September call up) 8) Dan Rohling (September call up) 9) Sean Gilmartin (September call up) I'm making dumb lists-Spring training can't come soon enough.
  16. We'll find out when Baltimore trades him.
  17. And, Brian Buchanan married John Havlicek's daughter. I know, weird. How do you measure the WAR (weddings above replacement) for that?
  18. My dog likes Scott Diamond, well actually, she like anyone who throws balls, and gives lots of walks.
  19. Maybe when Max Kepler is healthy enough to play in CR, Walker will move up. BTW, any update on Kepler?
  20. It is just me, or does he look older than 22? Is he the real Fausto Carmona? When Mastroianni comes back does Parmelee go down rather than Hicks (and Arcia stay)?
  21. I've seen the last two games in person, as well. On Wednesday, the Puerto Rico game was very enjoyable because of the PR fans chanting and dancing. Danny Santana has an impressive arm. Worley looked much better and his velocity increased as the game progressed. Berrios was the best pitcher of the day, either team. Joe Benson, also has a good arm, but looked really out of sync at the plate, and the missed played fly ball didn't help his cause. Brandon Boggs and Jeff Clement are getting long looks, both playing full games both days with so-so results. BJ Hermsen needs more velocity on his fastball to have a chance. Mays threw pretty hard, but he and Slama both had control issues. I'm pulling for Escobar, and he looked good at the plate on Thursday, making solid contact on his 3 hits. Overall, like last season, the pitching and fielding have been atrocious.
  22. I remember reading somewhere, that one of the Twins scouts was really pushing for them to take a high school kid from the New York ,who ended up getting drafted by Cleveland at #13- Manny Ramirez
  23. I agree Shane Wahl, sadly I think they may have tried to overpay for better pitchers, but not everyone (good free agents) loves the Twins as much as us.
  24. Not shocked, Ryan has said has put offers out to multiple pitchers, a team has a 1/30 chance of signing a free agent. A team with 2 years of 90+ losses, and punting 2013 has to overpay to even get someone mediocre.
  25. You are not crazy. The Dodgers would love to get Perkins, but if the Twins trade Perkins, I think they would prefer for younger talent (as mentioned by kab21). Dodgers now have 8 starters, they may not get full value for their extra starters. Duensing instead of Robertson, or add Butera (Dodgers also looking for back up catchers).
