  1. Well said. I think one of the big problems here was that the infield fly was called really late. I'm not saying it was the wrong call, but I also think the umpire should have just let that one play out.
  2. I have thought about Chip Hale a time or two. He's already the bench coach for the A's, so it'd have to be s position that he'd be interested in with a shot to take over for Gardy. I don't really know what kind of reputation he has as a coach, but he's coaching for a playoff team now and has a connection to the Twins.
  3. He started hitting leadoff this year, I believe.
  4. I like the idea if he's open to an extension. Even though 2012 was a down year for him, his numbers were still pretty good. It's probably as close to buying low as you can get for a guy like him. I didn't have time to type out all his numbers, but everyone here should know how to get to baseball reference anyway.
  5. I believe it is because he's paid a lot of money to play a game. I'm sure he's got some other arguments as well though.
  6. He was in town when they were finishing up his contract earlier in the summer. You're right though, Buxton and Revere should have raced each other.
  7. I never understood the boos either. He is still a great player and probably will be for quite some time. As long as he is healthy and is physically capable of playing SS, he'll play as long as the Yankees offer him a contract. There's no way that he ever plays for a different team.
  8. I think I like Blue Door better than the nook, but both are awesome. Burger Moe's in St. Paul is pretty good. Also a place called Tugg's in Minneapolis that is pretty alright (my favorite is the cowboy burger: cheddar, bacon and hashbrowns on the burger). If your willing to make the trip out to Eden Prairie, go to The Lions Tap. Very simple burgers but they are really awesome.
  9. I think the common thought is that Gibson needs a little bit more AAA experience, not that he would be coming back from the surgery too soon. Since Baker has been a MLB starter for a while, he wouldn't need the AAA experience, just go there long enough to prove he's healthy again. All speculation on my part though. I do actually like the idea of Gibson in the bullpen to start the year. It makes sense to me on an experience/arm usage level.
  10. It's not that I don't trust this year's results. I was saying that he would have to continue to show results in spring training to get a spot in the rotation when the season starts. More of a combined look, not just one or the other.
  11. Agree with this 100%. I don't think anyway has earned a spot except maybe Diamond. Everyone else should have to earn a spot in ST (as reliable as that is). Deduno has definitely earned his ST invite though.
  12. I guess I didn't realize that Oakland had that many rookies. There dress up idea is pretty good too.
  13. Rookie dress up day... hazing? I guess a little bit, but all of that seems pretty mild.
  14. On TV, I like a well played game. When I'm actually at the game, I could go either way, but I probably prefer a slug-fest. But one played fairly well, i.e. no stupid errors like throwing to the wrong base or forgetting how many outs there are. That being said, non of this applies when the Twins are playing the White Sox. I always want the Twins to win by a huge margin when they play them, no matter the record or how I'm watching the game.
  15. It is a good question. Another question would be if teams have really figured him out yet, or are there still questions. He's clearly busted his tail off to get to the show, but I really think that he needs some more time to determine if those numbers are real yet. He's done well, and should be proud of his season, but I'd rather have him have to earn that spot rather than have it handed to him. I don't really think that his salary, or lack of a higher paid vet, will have any effect on his battle for a rotation spot. If anything, he's going to be competing against a few other guys that are going to also be making close to the league minimum rather than a higher priced vet.
  16. Legends club for sure. The roof deck is fun, but it is the worst view in the place, IMO.
  17. Justin had a great game today. He looks to be back to form, which is great. I would love to see him stick around, but I understand if they were to trade him for some decent pitching in the off season. There is going to be a crowded outfield next season if Parmelee keeps up his production as well. Tough choices are ahead for the Twins FO.
  18. Made my head hurt as well. There was a lot of references to "stat guys" who "don't really understand the game". Ugh... makes my head hurt.
  19. Agreed. I believe the only reason he didn't sign was because he fell to #6. If he were #1, he would have signed. He's not going to hold out again. He's a senior this year, so if he doesn't sign, the only thing he could really do is go play independent ball somewhere for the year until he could enter the draft again, or sign as a free agent. Either way, that delays his entry into affiliated ball by another year. Deciding not to sign looks like he's taking the gamble that he will be drafter higher next year.
  20. I agree with you on this one. There are probably a few reasons that the Twins aren't willing to share that explains their call ups this September. I'm not ready to ask for JR's job because he didn't call up Slama. I'm not really ready to break out the fire and pitchforks quite yet. Now, if the Twins don't do anything at all to improve over the winter and they're headed for another 100 loss season by June, then we can (and should) demand that heads roll.
  21. This is absolutely awesome. Thanks for making this!
  22. If Hendriks keeps pitching like he did last night, he won't come close to that mark. Sure, he got the loss, but I don't think anyone in the Twins organization blames him for that loss. He had one "mistake" that was actually a nice pitch on the outside of the plate. Thames got just enough of it to get in the flowers. As mentioned in the Minor league update thread, the Twins hit two balls farther than that hit, which didn't go out. I thought he kept up with King Felix pretty well.
  23. Not exactly the kind of press you want to see about a Twins prospect.
  24. They could also be put into some Angry Birds costumes. There are 4 different types of birds, 4 guys.... The Avengers idea is much better though.
