  1. Great name. That might just make me get another cat so I can name it Alexi Dozier, or Matt Pavano.
  2. Well played, but I've got a proven player right here: http://www.jenkatgames.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/cat-baseball-player1.jpg As far as the original part of this thread goes, I would agree that it is nice to see improvement from what we saw in 2011. I have to admit that the team is looking much, much better than it did last year or even the beginning of this year. I'm actually enjoying watching these games and having some things to root for. That being said, some of the things mentioned in the first post were not negative at all. The idea of trading Moreau or Span or Revere or Willingham have nothing to do with being negative about the team. They have everything to do with posters on this forum coming up with ideas to help the Twins improve over the next year. And I think that is a positive. (Also, I don't know how moving Mastro to 2B is a negative comment. I think anyone suggesting that clearly wants him playing every day with the likes of Span and Revere and the Hammer... There's only 3 outfield spots to put players in).
  3. This is definitely a troll to start talking about how bad Nishioka was last night, right? The Twins already have enough middle infield guys that can't hit. I don't think we need more.
  4. It would be great to see Mauer get another batting title. I don't see how that happens without Trout going through a severe slump or going on the DL and not getting enough PA's to qualify. As much as I want Mauer to win (and Revere to get second), I don't want to wish an injury on Trout. So, I guess major slump it is. Thinking back to April, Trout, Mauer and Revere were not the names I was thinking I would here in the batting champ conversation. Just proves that a lot of things can happen over one season.
  5. That was the best clip I've seen in a while. There needs to be a version with added Three Stooges sound effects or maybe the theme song from the Benny Hill Show.
  6. I don't know about that. I partied with some Canadians after a few of the Toronto @ MN games this year and it was pretty obvious that they were Canadian. There were a lot of "Eh"s and "Aboot"s being thrown around.
  7. Well that is unexpected, but welcome news. It's good to see the Twins promote some players a little quicker than usual.
  8. Let's hope he keeps on looking that way for many years to come.
  9. I guess I called it for the wrong at bat...
  10. we're just going to have to settle for runs every other inning.
  11. I guess it is just a bad day for the 2B position all around.
  12. The Hammer's was very long to left field. Moreau hit his about 10 rows deep in right centerish. Both were obviously home runs coming off the bat.
  13. This inning has been good for the team slugging percentage.
  14. It was definitely an inning. That's about all I can say.
  15. Way to prove all the doubters wrong, Nishi.
  16. Good question. I'm going with Morneau as long as he doesn't hit his head or wrist. If those two areas are in play, I'd call it a draw.
  17. For the most part, the comments are fairly civil and worth reading. There are times though, that I stop reading the comments because of the personal attacks. RP - Thanks for bringing this up. Also, I'm sorry it had to come to posting an article about how to behave.
  18. Not a troll statement at all. I think the problem was with the reflection from the shiny green paint on the batter's eye in 2010. It supposedly had some pretty nasty reflections in the afternoons, which is where most of the complaints were from. Now that it is painted flat black, and there would be some better contrast between the wall and the trees, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I miss the trees.
  19. James

I always enjoyed watching him pitch. Judging from his AAA numbers this year (2.66 ERA, 1.114 WHIP and 7.0 SO/BB), it looks like he's figuring it out again and if finally healthy. Good for him. I wouldn't mind trying to get him back next year f he keeps that up in the majors.
  20. I like the idea of adding more craft beer. The Surly line was backed up pretty far at the beginning of the year, but isn't too bad. It would be nice to have more than one place to get that. I don't usually make it up to Townball Tavern, so I miss out on the Fulton. I really can't think of too many other things, really. I'm sure if I thought about it more, I could think of some more stuff.
  21. His salary would eat up pretty much all available payroll space for 2013 (assuming that the Twins stick to their stated budget). I think we need more than just one good pitcher to probably be competitive. The Phillies are probably looking for something in return as well. I think they raided their farm system to get guys like Lee, so I would imagine that they would want to restock some. The dollars per age kind of spooks me too. I know it's Cliff Lee and he's a great pitcher. No question there. But I think he's at that age where he definitely may be on the decline side of things. Now what level does Cliff Lee decline to? That's a different question all together. I say it's a no go for the Twins. (I might change my mind if he could be had for the just the contract though).
  22. I had never thought of this that way either. Jim- I have a hard time thinking that anyone would claim Pavano after basically not pitching all year. I think they should pretty much send him through waivers right away (I think you can put them through waivers, but they can't be officially traded without consent from the commissioner). As for Capps, I think that clubs would look at how he's performed this year and there would be a contending team that would take a chance on him and claim him. Since the teams only have 48 hours to make a trade, I would think that the Twins would want him healthy and have thrown a few games to show that he is healthy and improve his value some. That's just my guess. It seems like contending clubs are pretty willing to make trades for relievers in August. Once again, this is just my guess.
  23. Interesting. As far as the All-Star game goes, they won't announce that until some time next year. I think it happens in the May time frame. They didn't announce the 2013 ASG until May 16th. Most people knew where it was going to be already. In the announcement for the 2013 game, they even mentioned that the 2014 ASG will most likely be held at Target Field.
