  1. Ace is another name for "slightly better than a pitching machine," right?
  2. Look at that. We made it through the first inning without the other team scoring. Watch out AL Central. The Twins are rolling now.
  3. That line should be used when Cletus actually makes a play.
  4. Explain to her that you can't start a masterpiece without starting out with something that looks like crap.
  5. This was fantastic! I liked this part the best:
  6. Yeah. Really low key today. I was hoping this game would distract me from work. It hasn't really worked.
  7. Minnesota Twins Baseball TM
  8. I have a immense dislike for Lorenzo Cain at this moment. How dare he steal that homerun from Plouffe. That is just rude.
  9. Sandy Koufax. That's my guess.
  10. Stupid work meeting getting the way of me listening to the game. I hate when that happens.

I don't really think you really make a valid conclusion about how Hicks would hit in AAA based on his 23 plate appearances there. Talk about small sample size. I'm not trying to be combative or anything, but your AAA numbers argument isn't very strong.
  12. My attempt to make a joke that the PTBNL in the Butera trade would be the Dodger's mascot was foiled when I learned that the Dodgers do not have a mascot. I was going to post a picture and everything...
  13. Player to be named later! I love that guy!
  14. I didn't need that ad to convince not buy Blue Moon ever again. I had already made that decision long ago.
  15. I know how you feel. I'm trying to work at the same time. I was hoping that you knew that stuff already. You're right, the money is a sunk cost, or should be viewed as one. But, there is a lot of assumption around here that the Twins are not offering to pick up the salary. We don't know if that is the case. Souhan said on Judd and Dubay that teams just weren't offering the Twins very much for any of our players. Let's face facts here, if you were a GM for another team, would you offer very much for Morneau or Duensing? I don't think I would.
  16. Well, the money isn't actually spent...yet. They just know how much he is owed for the rest of the season. So if he is traded, the team he is traded to would have to pick up the remainder of the salary, unless the Twins were willing to pick up some or all of his salary. Contracts aren't paid out in lump sums. So, the money is actually a big factor here.
  17. Arizona is only 3.5 games out of 1st and 4 out of a wildcard spot. I'm assuming they were looking for the best LHRP they could get their hands on. Their in a "win now" mode. I don't think Duensing would have been good enough. Just my opinion.
  18. I was thinking the same thing. I think with the 40-man roster decisions they already have to make, I have a hard time believing that the Twins would really want to expose someone and start Sano's service time, just to see him be overmatched in the MLB for a month or so. It would be very interesting to see him in AAA for the Red Wings playoff push though. I would have to think that Rosario might be in a very similar situation.
  19. That other MiLBer is actually San Diego's comp round B pick in next year's draft. So, the equivalent to early third rounder pick. I would still probably make that deal as well.
  20. Personally, I hope that the Twins win at least 73 games this year. That's the magic number to win $100 from my buddy (a White Sox fan). There is good logic behind the arguments for continuing to win and continuing to lose. It's all been said many times on this forum. I will say this, watching a team that is winning is more fun than watching a losing team. I have enjoyed watching this team a lot more this year than I have the previous two years. You can see flashes of good baseball in some of the younger guys, which is was all I was hoping for this year. But either way, I don't think they Twins are really going to win enough to push themselves out of a top 10 draft pick next year.
  21. If he could get $6-9M per season (wild guess) for three years or more, he might pass up the $13 for one year. Who knows how well he throws next year. Next offseason might end up being the peak of his value. He will be 30 all next season, so this offseason might be his only chance to get that 3-4 year bigger money deal. So there's a chance that he would go for years over money for one season. There also nothing stopping the Twins from making the QO and also offer him a 2-3 year deal for less money at the same time. Of course, this is all dependent on Pelf continuing to pitch like he has in June/July. If he doesn't... well, we're probably not getting anything of value in trade anyway.
  22. It's an intriguing idea. It would definitely be an overpay, but by how much? If he takes it, so what, it's not like they don't have some money to throw out there. If he doesn't take it, the absolute worst thing is the Twins are able to resign him or another teams signs him and we get the draft picks out of the deal. Would Pelfrey be worth a supplemental draft pick? I would say absolutely.
  23. I thought the infield fly rule was created to prevent that exact play from happening...
