  1. Congratulations! You've just composed a sentence that has never been made before!
  2. We also have several years of data that suggests that he is capable of continuing these numbers. So, I'm just going to enjoy this ride while for as long as possible.
  3. I seek out some of new stuff. I was a big fan of Hot Indian Foods last year, but I had also already had some things from their food truck, so I knew that I'd like that. Every once in a while I'll go searching for something, but sometimes you just have to go and get yourself a nacho helmet.
  4. They let Joe talk about that on camera? I would have thought that was a little too racy for television.
  5. I'll be at that Wednesday night game as well. Should be fun.
  6. The good news is, with that many strike outs, Tillman should reach his pitch count fairly quickly.
  7. I was just at their taproom yesterday. Had myself one of their tasty sour beers. I need one of those fancy refrigerated drawers at my desk for beer.
  8. That 6pm suggestion would have been nice too. I would have been able to be at home on the couch and watch it. Now I have to listen to it on the radio while I pretend to work.
  9. See, I assumed you were asking who would be the first to crack a beer. That is a solid choice though. Mine will be one of a Surly Xtra-Citra Pale Ale, Schell's Maifest, or some sort of home brew.
  10. I wish it were me, but I'm pretty sure someone has already beat me to it.
  11. I see what you did there. Sneaky.
  12. It was a grand slam. That is an appropriate time to use the bat flip. I'm really excited to see Park crush a homer to give the Twins a late inning lead and watching the ensuing bat flip.
  13. There is definitely still a lot of hope for Stewart in my mind. Yes, I would also like to see a lot more strikeouts, but I think that is just a little bit away. Anyone who is inducing groundballs at 59% is doing something right. Some of those pitches are going to turn into some swinging strikes, some will probably turn into more line drives/fly balls, and many of them will continue to be groundballs. I agree this is big year for him, but I'm putting money on him making some improvements. There's still a lot of potential there and no reason to give up on him yet.
  14. You're right, we did hear a lot of pre-trade rumors about Morneau and Willingham and Liriano, but those were also obvious trade candidate. All of them were on expiring contracts on a team that was pretty much already out of the playoff picture. From the other FA guys that we were pursuing, there is always a chance that this sort of info was leaked by the agents to help increase their players value. But, it could have been leaked from the Twins FO. There's no way of knowing. I agree some stuff leaks out about the Twins and FAs though. A more recent example was the Hicks/Murphy trade. That one had no trade buzz leading up to it. So it could be reasonable to assume that they had also talked to teams about Plouffe during that time, but we really have no way of knowing.
  15. I will say this, we don't know how hard the Twins' FO tried to trade Plouffe. They probably were waiting for some other teams to ask for him, or ask for someone else so they could use Plouffe as a counter offer. The other thing I will say is, that Twins trade rumors almost never pop up until something is about to happen. The FO doesn't let a lot of things out to the media. So, in actuality, we don't know how hard they tried to trade Plouffe, if it all. They very well could have had plans to trade him and it was obvious that the market wasn't there, or the might not have tried to trade him at all. But no one who isn't in the FO can say for certain that they made no effort just because we didn't hear any rumor before hand.
  16. I'm sorry I missed it this year. Sounds like everyone had a good time.
  17. Now, all we need is for Bark to photoshop that picture to make it looking like Molitor was doing a mic drop and we'd have a game thread vibe going on here. Good job with the article.
  18. I don't think the ship has sailed on trading Plouffe. It could be that a team that is interested in him might want to know exactly how much they'd have to pay him before pulling the trigger on a trade. A team that would be interested in him should have a good idea, but they may want to get that number nailed down as he's likely to get a raise next year as well.
  19. I think Wimmers still might have a shot to do a little bit in the MLB. I don't think he's completely cooked yet. We'll see.
  20. You are correct. They won't necessarily go before an arbitrator. As I mentioned before, they have until the arbitration hearing is complete to negotiate a deal. Tendering a contract to a player, is the same as saying the team is willing to go through the arbitration process to keep that player around. I'm not sure what the conversation has turned to here. The original question was whether the player could reject the team tendering a contract to them. The answer is no the play cannot reject it and become a free agent. I don't know how the QO thing got built into this conversation. That is a separate thing that does not apply to Fien being tendered a contract. As far as Fien goes, I don't think tendering him a contract is the worst thing. I have to agree with others that he shouldn't be the 8th inning guy, but he does have some upside if he's more of a 6th inning guy.
  21. Or confusing the qualifying offer system to the old system with type A and type B free agents. Under that system, players could decline arbitration offers, and the team would get draft compensation, but this system has been replaced with the qualifying offer. That system still wouldn't have applied to Fien though, as the service time requirements did not change.
