    Sano Situation

    James commented on Doc Munson's blog entry in Fantasy GM

    Let's see what Sano does against more seasoned pitching before proclaiming that we have a log jam here. If Sano does seem to have something left in the tank against higher level talent, then maybe you can package him with a prospect to get a pending free agent reliver. There are a lot of ifs in that scenario. I could see a losing team taking on his contract for the rest of the season to get a better prospect. And that's what I think will probably happen.

    I doubt Detroit would care much about trading with the Twins for Fulmer. They would be giving up a guy that probably won't resign with them. Sure, they'd have to face him for the rest of the season, but they're out of contention, so that shouldn't matter much. It's the Twins that might be warry. They'd probably have to give up a prospect that could come back to haunt them for 6 years. I personally think it's worth the risk.

    As someone that appreciates stats quite a bit, BA is still one of the first things a look at. There's a reason it's the first thing listed in a triple slash line. If "stats geeks" didn't like it, they wouldn't keep using it. Arraez is great. I hope he's with the team for a long, long time. He's a special player.

    I also think Kirilloff is going to be something special. I love my prospects as much as the next guy, and it would take a heck of a deal to make me consider trading AK, but almost no one is untouchable, for the right price.

    Ugh. Can we stop with the cheap Pohlad for one thread please? This has nothing to do with saving money. This is about making sure AK is fully healthy and there is a spot for him to get ABs (I also think there are ABs for him). There is a small roster crunch, but these things work themselves out. Kirilloff is the casualty of that roster crunch at the moment. The crunch will be over when (if?) they limit the rosters to 13 pitchers, or someone else gets hurt/starts playing poorly. I think he should be up as well, but giving him another week to show that the wrist is not bothering him isn't that big of a deal.

    I'm happy that I was at Target Field to witness both #6 and #1. They were both great moments. For Dozier's, I was in the section that he hit it to. It was so electric.

    The baseball gods usually demand sacrifices of some sort. Let's hope Paddack's UCL was a big enough sacrifice for 110 games of Buxton. Maybe that's why Falvine traded for Paddack in the first place? Specifically to be the sacrifice to the baseballs gods. If so, they are sneakier than we give them credit for.

    Technically, they traded for Johan. You could argue that Johan was the Marlins' best Rule V pick ever, and the Jared Camp + Cash for Rule V pick Johan Santana was one of the best trades Terry Ryan ever made.

    Suzuki intrigues me. I think he's got a solid chance to be a good to very good MLB player. It would be a play if the FO decided to trade Kepler for pitching. Unless they wanted to try Kepler out in LF... kind of a crazy idea. I don't think they necessarily need to add an outfielder, but I don't see the season going super well if they roll with Larnach (who I actually think will end up being pretty good), Rooker, or Martin to start the season. I'm sure my predictions will be super off though. They generally are.

    I'm thinking you can watch Major league about 75 times in that span of time.

    I don't think he'll get into the HOF. I'd put money on him making it to year two of the HOF ballot though. He'll get at least 5% of the vote.

    Yeah. He did. That's why I don't get all the trade hate. Lots of people around here want to FO to "be more like the Rays" and build up a strong farm with good teams. But the Rays trade players when they're at peak value to keep the farm strong. That's exactly what Falvine did with Berrios. The trade hurt emotionally, but this is exactly what good FO's do with a guy that has made it clear he's not signing an extension. (Note: I'm not passing the Twins' FO is good or bad, just that I feel they made the right move in this particular case).

    I read somewhere (I can try to find a link to the quote) that Johnson didn't think Chase Petty was going to fall to them and that they were ecstatic when he did. So, that sort of thing can change a team's draft plan. After that, you pick the best players you can and the positions they play will sort themselves out.

    I was at that game too. That was such an amazing ending to that game. Definitely up there in terms of most fun I've had at a game. You can actually see me in the video with my arms raised up in the left field bleachers as my (now) wife watched some kid trip over the bleachers. Dozier had a great career and he was always fun to watch. I wish him luck in all his future endeavors.

    The first thing I thought about when I saw the headline was "Wait... they're not doing Zubazpalooza this year?" Fret not for your Zubaz. The Minnesota Twins got you covered.

    All I have to say is... Cheap Pohlads. They should have given him 93M (101M) with the option.
