  1. I don't think the Tigers are going to quite drop that quickly. I do think this is their last season of being a good team though. After this year, I think they're going to be in the cellar for quite a while again. I think they Royals will be very similar to last year, but probably lose a few more games, but will be in contention with Cleveland all year. I think the White Sox are going to be incredibly mediocre, much to the chagrin of many Chicago fans. This opinion could be a little biased, but I think they still have some holes in the lineup, and I don't think Samardzija will be as good as people think (especially when he gets knocked around in the Cell). I think the Twins will turn a few heads this year and people will start to realize that they are an up and coming team. That doesn't mean that they won't end up last in the division though. I'm hoping for a record around .500 or better, but realistically thinking they'll win about 75. But overall, it's going to be much more fun to watch. I hope I'm wrong and the Twins kick the crap out of everyone and win the world series, but I just don't think that is super likely.
  2. Halsey reads --> Head explodes. Please, ABJ, check your facts before making Halsey's head explode.
  3. It looks like the top of the 4th went pretty well too.
  4. I think I got what is going around down there too. I had some flu like symptoms when I got home about a week ago. Something is definitely in the air down there.
  5. 1.Twins very, very distant 2. Oakland - That is almost entirely because of the elephant logo and how the story behind it. 3 - 28. - Most everyone else. Constantly shifting between 29-30 - Yankees and White Sox.
  6. This is why I hate the Yankees. Exactly why I hate them. I don't really "hate" the Cubs, I just hope they never win the World Series ever again. It's a subtle difference. I can say, I don't like the White Sox. I really enjoy watching the Twins beat them. I can't say that I actually hate them though. I like the rivalry without the hatred.
  7. I'm going to go with 0-0 at this point.
  8. I just got back from Florida on Monday, and this makes me want to go back.
  9. Someone always seems to post this Forbes article every once and a while here. It seems like I'm always explaining that operating income and profit are not the same things. It seems like Phil Miller fell into the operating income/profit trap this time around.
  10. When I saw Plouffe on Saturday, he made a few nice defensive plays including one perfectly timed jump to steal a hit away from an unlucky Oriole. From what I could see, his defense seemed to be back up to where it was previously. I probably wasn't paying close enough attention to really give any real analysis of his hitting. I seem to remember him in a extended battle at the plate where he fouled off a bunch of pitches. So, he was at least doing that on Saturday.
  11. And Eddie Rosario decides he'll end the game with a walk off hit. You have to like at bats like that.
  12. Schafer fails to bunt the ball, decides to hit a homerun on the next pitch instead. I like his approach on the second pitch better.
  13. Strike my previous comment. Good job, Twins. Keep getting those hits.
  14. One hit? That's all we got? One G*@%#$n hit!?!?! -Bob Ueker as "Harry Doyle"
  15. Just the thought of the Twins trading for Howard makes me cringe. I can't imagine any scenario where he would be a good fit for this team.
  16. I'll be at the games on Friday and Saturday. If I remember, I'll try to post some velocities.
  17. I've haven't had a speed check on my fastball. but I'm left handed and can place the ball within 6 feet of the strike zone at any given time. So, at least I have that going for me.
  18. If the lesson is that naps are awesome, it sounds like you already learned that lesson.
  19. It appears that the Twins decided that they would only score runs via the long ball today. I'm ok with that.
  20. This has been discussed many times around TD. I think idea that it is not the "Twins Way" to promote from AA is not really true. Last season we saw Vargas and Santana get promoted from AA. Now, that doesn't mean that they won't make a player go to AAA to prove that he can handle things there. I think some guys need to have that intermediate step. But, to say that the Twins, as an organization, won't promote a guy to the MLB straight from AA is ignoring some of the facts.
  21. I know I declared that the season was over after Hughes' second inning yesterday, but after today's game, I think I can say that the season should be back on. Sorry for the earlier confusion. Go Twins.
  22. And Rosario hits an opposite field home run. So, that's fun too.
  23. Vargas is now 3 for 3 in the game. That's something to be happy about.

  25. I agree. It is time to hit the panic button. Season. Over.
