Haha. This is fantastic. I don't think you really have to root to much. He seems to be pretty close to there all by himself. -
I don't know about that one. I'm betting that Diamond, Mauer and Butera all got together to keep Diamond's strategy going. Whatever they have been doing seems to have been working, so I don't think they're going to switch it up too much. Will he go another 7 scoreless? I don't know, but I certainly hope so.

I totally agree with you that we need starting pitching. I think the argument other people were making was that you would take Buxton, and then trade some other outfield prospects for pitching prospects. You would have to assume then that other teams would give up pitching prospects for a guy like Aaron Hicks. The more I read up on the draft, the more I'm convinced that the Twins need to take Gausman or Zimmer. Appel still makes me a little nervous because of how much he has been used, and every thing I read said that his stuff should translate in more strike outs, but somehow doesn't.

Gave up on Plouffe at 3rd, or are they looking for better infield defense? Or just a day off for the other guys?

To me, it looked like he was hoping it would hit him on the bounce. If he wasn't trying to hit the ump, he could (and should have) directed it off to the side. To be fair, I hope the ump gets suspended as well. That "3rd Strike" looked like a retaliation for trying to go to first on his first blown call.

Dozier would be a tough call, especially compared to other short stops around the AL. I hate to even say the name, but I'm pretty sure that Jeter has that starting position at the all star game locked up. Assuming that he doesn't turn down the invitation.

After one full week of AAA baseball, Pedro Florimon is hitting .290/.313/.484, with 2 HRs. He also has 3 SB. Keep up the good work, Pedro!

Willingham has earned it. Doumit is starting to make a case for himself as well. I would expect that Mauer is going to get a ton of votes regardless of performance, but if he goes on a little hot streak, he could actually earn his spot.

So, this doesn't really tell me that he is over paid, more that maybe Gardy should look to move him to a different spot in the batting order, like, maybe #2.

Let's hope everyone saying Sano is kidding. I have to agree that you let Ploufe have a shot at it for a few more games before you make that decision, but for argument's sake, you move Carroll over to 3rd for a bit. If you don't trust Lexi at 2nd, then you maybe call up the Florimonster to take over there, but he's my adopt a prospect, so I'm a bit biased.

Dominican players are not part of the draft. The rule 4 draft only covers the USA and Puerto Rico. Dominican plays sign as international free agents. The MLB is working there way toward an international draft, but is there yet. -

Sometimes they have higher ceilings. But I don't think that is what he was getting to. College players are generally considered safer (as in actually make it to the major league team). It's not all due to the competition they see though. With college players, there is much more data on performance than a college player. So, you have a better idea of what you will be getting. -
The reports I've been reading are starting to question Appel a bit. He has good velocity, but something in his delivery doesn't translate to strike outs. The more I read on college pitchers, the more I am like Gausman. But it's all speculation at this point anyway. Let's hope whoever they pick turns out to be a future Twins HOF member at their respective position.

The expanded gambling is actually just the state's contribution. There is also the contribution from the city, coming from extra hospitality taxes and bumped tax rates in Minneapolis. Which happens to be where I live. So, yes, my tax dollars are paying for a stadium that I will probably not use because I'm not really a football fan. For the record, I love Target Field, but I was against using public money for that too. But, I'm not an elected official, and I didn't tell me representatives how I feel, so that part is my fault. Not that it would have done much good anyway.

I'm don't usually think firing Gardy is a good idea. I did vote yes today though, but I struggled to do it. I think that Gardy will make it through the season and he will (or be asked to) resign, but it will be mostly mutual. It may not be the best thing, but it will be a PR move to show that the ownership is at least trying to give the fans a quality product (if you believe that is genuine or not is up to you). This is just what I'm expecting to happen if the season continues like this.

I agree. That was the thing I noticed the most. Sure, he got to the ball, and obviously that is the most important thing, but he gets a lot on those throws. I guess I wasn't quite ready for that when I first saw him throw. Let's hope he keeps up the good work.
