  1. ?? I think he started yesterday (which was his worst start of the year). From Fangraphs
  2. And this will probably irk some folks: Chih-Wei Hu - K - 22.9%; B - 6.2%; K/BB - 16.8%; FIP - 2.67 in 8 starts in AA (He also made a start in AAA that didn't go particularly well.)
  3. Posted these guys FIP stats about a week ago. Thought I'd provide a few more stats. Jorge - K - 21.3%; BB - 4.5%; K/BB - 16.8%; FIP - 2.62 Jay - K - 24.3%; BB - 7.2%; K/BB - 17.1%; FIP - 2.68 Gonsalves - K - 23.6%; BB - 9.3%; K/BB - 14.3%; FIP - 2.95 Stewart - K - 21.9%; BB - 10.2%; K/BB - 11.8%; FIP - 3.00 Many people have been wanting Gonsalves to be promoted. I'm not arguing he shouldn't be, but I wonder if Jay and Jorge might actually be more deserving. Of course scouting a stat line can be precarious, but I'm impressed that Jay and Jorge lead in K/BB (Jay because of the best K% and second best BB% and Jorge because of his very impressive BB%) and FIP. Jay is the only one of the four whose FIP is better than his ERA. Also impressed by Jorge's consistency - he's pitched the most innings through 8 starts.
  4. I'm assuming Wade is sticking around Cedar Rapids to try to help them clinch a playoff spot. Unfortunately the first half standings are pretty tight. Would definitely like to see him back to back in the lineup with Gordon in FtM. (Actually I'd like to see both of them pushed up to AA at some point this season but that seems pretty unlikely.)
  5. LaMonte Wade has an absurd 12 walks to 4 Ks in his last 10 games.
  6. Add my vote to giving Polanco a chance to hit leadoff. Or at the very least a chance to play every day.
  7. Yeah, that's why I'm curious if someone has a scouting report or update on him. It doesn't seem like he's been very hittable so far this year with a 0.95 WHIP.
  8. Found myself checking out the Miracle starting rotation numbers and just thought I'd share this: FIP Randy Rosario - 3.59 Keaton Steele - 3.53 Tyler Jay - 3.02 Stephen Gonsalves - 3.01 Kohl Stewart - 2.81 Felix Jorge - 2.43 (Before last night)
  9. Anyone have any insight on Jason Wheeler? Has he made any changes that might correlate with his improvement this year, or is this more just a product of a small sample size and a streak of productive play? His AAA BABIP (.250) and LOB% (91.7) may indicate he's been a bit lucky. But his K% (24.5) is a career high. (These numbers are from fangraphs, and I just realized they don't include last night's start.)
  10. Kepler is trending in the right direction hitting .381 over his last 10 with a .296/.375/.507 line in May. Overall, he's got 13 walks to 12 K's. Also, an impressive (SSS) 1.096 OPS against LHP in AAA (His triple and HR last night w off a lefty).
  11. Well Dozier has performed so well when they dropped him down, it was clear he earned that spot back. And it's not like they have another second baseman on the roster who might profile well at the top of the order.
  12. Checked gameday yesterday in the middle of the Miracle game and saw that Jay was very efficient early on, needing only 40 pitches to get through 4 innings. The fifth was where he ran into a bit of trouble and surrendered his lone run on two singles and two walks. But he bounced back with a 1-2-3 sixth. He was still only at 81 pitches after six. Very strong outing.
  13. I'm going to need some of those new fangled sabermetric thingies to back up your position.
  14. Just looked at Baxendale's player page. Talk about splashing a little cold water on my excitement about the current Miracle starting rotation. I had forgotten how dominant D.J. was there in 2013 - 9 starts, 57.1 innings, 1.10 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, .171 BAA, 48 K's, 11 BB. I know he wasn't regarded as highly as the current Miracle guys, and he's also struggled with injuries so it does not necessarily mean anything for the younger guys, except maybe to remind us that they still have a ways to go. Good to see D.J. pitching will again this year and hope to see him move up to AAA soon.
  15. A.J.Murray had a decent week. Over 7 games from Saturday to Saturday he went 15 for 28 (.536) with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers, 9 runs, 11 RBIs. Raised his season BA from .226 to .304.
  16. Yep, which is why he needs to be playing. I'd like to think he'll have an easier time adjusting because he's a different kind of hitter than the other prospects that have come up. But of course that's no guarantee.
  17. I don't agree with the way the Twins have called up Polanco only to sit on the bench, but he's not out of options next year because of it. I'm pretty sure he's out of options because they had to add him to the 40 man roster heading into 2014, so they then had to use options to keep him in the minors. The only reason he was called up in 2014 is because he was already on the 40 man roster (but his option had already been used that year). That being said, they need to play him or as you suggest trade him. I'd prefer they keep him and play him because he better balances the lineup with his higher contact and OB skills. He profiles better at the top of the lineup than Dozier.
  18. For whatever reason, I was anticipating a great start from Jay and he didn't disappoint. Nice to see him bounce back strong after a rough start on April 28. In looking at the recap, the three hits he gave up were all ground balls and two of them were infield hits (one being a bunt). Seems like he was in a pretty good groove last night.
  19. Travis Harrison is hitting .432 in the month of May (9 games) and has raised his average from .230 to .297. Unfortunately the other numbers during this stretch aren't all that impressive. Only 1 extra base hit, 2 BBs, and 10 Ks.
  20. I wouldn't have any complaints with this. Don't think the Twins have scored 3 runs in one trip through the order too many times this year. 3 solo homeruns are just as good as a 3 run homerun. Maybe even better if you believe as some TV announcers do that such a homerun is a rally killer.
  21. At least this shows signs that Molitor may be opening up to considering some new ideas. At least that new idea wasn't Mastro 3rd and Centeno 4th.
