  1. With the numbers Minier put up last season, I would be shocked if he returned to GCL. I'm hoping he can make his way up to Cedar Rapids this year. It might be a bit aggressive, but they could use an impact bat. Hope he pushes the issue once the Appy League gets rolling.
  2. Yeah I was thinking of those examples, and if I recall correctly, Minier just came straight to the GCL. I wondered if they might follow a similar plan with Ynoa, but of its a different scenario with him being a pitcher. Perhaps it will be primarily decided by the number of pitchers they already have on the GCL roster?
  3. What is the likelihood if any that Huascar pitches in the GCL at all this year?
  4. It was interesting to see Sano in the 5th spot for the Lookouts. Anybody have any insights as to why Dougie did so?
  5. 8 isn't really all that many for 2 teams when you can play 6 of them (3b, 1b, DH), specially since these guys are not as accustomed to playing games everyday.
  6. With Jay's 66 innings already being a career high, how many more innings do you believe the Twins will have him throw this year? FWIW Burdi threw 20 innings between CR and FTM last year. But he also only threw 37 in his college season. I would be very surprised to see Jay with the big league club this season mostly because I don't see him throwing more than 20 innings.
  7. Its interesting that they've taken 3 corner infielders already, but it seems like they've gotten some potential upside bats with those picks. I was a bit surprised they haven't drafted any catchers yet. I'm sure we'll see a couple added soon.
  8. Like many, I too am a bit puzzled by the number of college relievers the Twins have been drafting. My hope is that it will pay off in a few years. My bigger hope is that it will pay off in a huge way in a few years if they can construct a bullpen of cost controlled guys and spend that savings on a frontline starter or impact bat. I know that is a lot to hope for but I do see some value in having a system with a bunch of potentially strong bullpen options. At the least, hopefully it keeps them away from Stauffer-like signings.
  9. Congrats to Gonsalves on the promotions. I'm sure we're all excited to see what he can do at the next level. Hope he continues to develop his stuff as he faces new challenges. Corcino is off to quite the start with the Kernels! Bit of an interesting journey for the 22 year old as Seth writes here. Obviously its a very small sample size this year, but it would be terrific if the Twins have found a late bloomer to add to their prospect talent.
  10. 2 straight days without Lookout box scores - Not sure what I'm going to do with myself.
  11. According to this article he has "advanced command of his 90-92 mph fastball" but "sometimes he'll throw it 88, 89 and it'll go by guys."
  12. I wasn't sure about including the link since there is already one on the page - but here is the direct link to the pictures. Brace Hemelgarn Chattanooga Photos Seems like there's pretty good "chemistry" on the club with lots of personality and enjoying the game.
  13. If anyone hasn't already, I highly recommend checking out the link to the Chattanooga pictures in the "Twins Blogosphere" section. Some awesome pics from Brace Hemmelgarn - game action, behind the scenes, stadium shots - just phenomenal!
  14. Sano's May numbers were looking pretty solid. Last night made them look even better. Here's a link to his second home run. That Chattanooga lineup is as scary as advertised.
  15. If you're that depressed by Buxton, Sano, Burdi, and Reed in a 2 week sample size, shouldn't you be equally excited about Hicks, Harrison, Walker, Polanco, Duffey, et al?
  16. It seems Mike Gonzalez would/should draw the short end of the playing time stick. Sorry Seth and Shane if you've written this elsewhere, but I thought it should be mentioned directly here. Unless I'm missing something/someone, Kepler, Hicks, Harrison, and Walker can all be in the lineup together regularly.
  17. It seems that Gordon is more in the Polanco mold of prospects then. Its great to have a mix of guys with "loud" tools like Buxton and Sano, and guys who can just flat play baseball like Gordon and Polanco.
  18. Really encouraging to see such an impressive start from Felix Jorge after his struggles last year. I know it's just one start, but hopefully it's a sign of a big season for him.
  19. Does Berrios regularly do a lot of fidgeting and shaking his arm? It caught my attention in the video of his 11th K and made me a little nervous that he was experiencing some discomfort. But maybe its something he does, maybe his jersey didn't feel quite right or maybe it was the weather.
  20. 36 strikeouts for the lookouts lineup in 2 games. Yikes! Hopefully they get their timing down quickly. Yet they still almost won both of the games. Also, While going 2 games without striking out is not amazing, the fact that Polanco doesn't own any of those 36 is pretty impressive.
  21. I think the number of pitches he had already thrown probably factored into the decision.
  22. Just a note on Gordon - I believe the picked off and caught stealing were the same play and not two separate instances.
  23. Thorpe's ERA actually moved in the right direction (by .01) since only two of the runs were earned.
