  1. Sorry to quibble, but isnt "bad" worse than "pretty bad"? Being bad is just bad. But if you're pretty bad, at least you're pretty.
  2. A liitle more on Brusdar's performance: the only hit he surrendered was a bunt single. He then picked that runner off first base. Only one ball left the infield - a fly out to center. Very worthy selection for pitcher of the day and an exciting young pitching... Well I've heard there's no such thing
  3. Albanese didn't steal just any base either. He stole home in the 8th to cut the lead to one, setting the stage for his further heroics in the 9th.
  4. Javier was assigned to the Etown roster at the beginning of June (prior to the draft)
  5. 6 rounds, 7 picks and no college relievers? Wtf indeed
  6. This all seems to jive with what I've consistently seen Falvey quoted as saying. He has talked about the entire draft portfolio. Valuations of players seem to get much more complex as these determinations are made. What algorithms have they put in place to compute valuations of collective upside/talent of groups of players?
  7. Thanks for the thoughts. Just curious about people's opinions. My personal feeling is that Gordon has done enough this season at AA to solidify his position as the Twins top prospect even after selection 1.1. I suspect/hope though that both #35 and #37 would be in the Twins top 10.
  8. Where would you rank the prospective #1 picks (Greene, Wright, McKay, Gore, Lewis) among current Twins prospects?
  9. Appreciated this series very much Seth. Was just thinking about the rankings and the draft. At the beginning of the season, there was quite a bit of discussion about the lack of top-end talent in the Twins system - though overall having pretty good depth. Many seemed to think that the #1 draft pick would immediately vault to the top of the Twins prospect list. With the season Gordon has been having though and his relative proximity to the majors, he seems to have a pretty solid lock on that position in my eyes. Of course opinions will vary and it depends some on who the Twins end up selecting with the first pick, so I'm curious to see where the #1 pick (and #35 and #37) will rank among the Twins prospects.
  10. I get it. I don't think McKay would be the top of my list either. My post was mostly in jest - wondering what the opposite of tar and pitchforks would be. From what I've seen, the Twins draft team has been very diligent - and I'm excited to see how their entire draft looks, especially with 3 picks in the top 40.
  11. Very intrigued by this ... would love to hear more about what things Falvine are doing/saying that are so impressive.
  12. What should we prepare if he succeeds?
  13. Cavaness must have decided to save his bat for a time when hits are more needed. Smart thinking.
  14. Longenhagen mentioned something to this effect in his prospect notes from 5/17: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/daily-prospect-notes-517/ "Gordon is slashing an impressive .322/.383/.507 at Chattanooga but remains erratic and mistake prone on defense and now profiles as a bat-first middle infielder for scouts with increasing sentiment that he might need to move to second base."
  15. Rough day for Park. Not only was he the only Red Wings hitter not to reach base, he was responsible for all three outs in their huge 4th inning - flying out to start the inning and grounding into a double play to end it. Also, I think I'd vote for Davis as the hitter of the day - I sense a Midwest League Player of the Week award in his near future. Lastly, great to see Lewis Thorpe will finally be taking the mound in game action - been a long road for that young man.
  16. Yeah, I knew he'd be splitting time with Murphy at catcher. I'm just a bit surprised Garver is not playing more at 1B/DH, especially with Park & Vargas not currently on the roster.
  17. Mitch Garver seems to be playing pretty sparingly. Anybody have any insights into why that might be?
  18. LaMonte Wade's last 18 games: .420/.557/.680 4 doubles, 3 homeruns, 17 walks, 11 strikeouts
  19. Here's another thing I enjoyed reading: Soft Hit % - 2.1% (that is ridiculous) Med Hit % - 42.6% Hard Hit % - 55.3% I'm thinking this probably has something to do with why he is the Exit Velocity leader.
  20. I have enjoyed reading the quotes from Sano about his at bats recently. They show that he is continuing to learn and grow as a hitter - and committed to making adjustments to be successful. From Bollinger's report : "My first at-bat, I didn't see the ball very good so I put on my sunglasses," Sano said. "I watched video on the computer and his last pitch was a fastball away. In my second at-bat, I knew he'd try to go with the fastball inside and I was able to pull the ball." "The other night, he threw me a lot of sliders and changeup," Sano said of Moylan. "Today, I let the ball come to me and tried to hit to right field. It was a 2-0 fastball away." "I've been working really hard every day," Sano said. "I know I need to improve every day. I've been working hard and putting it into the game." From Berardino: On the single against Moylan: “The other night when I faced him, he threw me a lot of sliders, a lot of changeups,” Sano said. “He didn’t throw me any strikes, but I don’t want to say anything about the umpire’s calls. Today I worked the count in that situation. I let the ball come to me and hit it to right field.”
  21. ... decided to stop being lazy (well maybe actually start being lazier) and look it up. I believe it is 20 days. It looks like his rehab assignment will be up around May 11th (I don't know exactly). Will be interesting to see how much time in the OF he gets.
  22. Replying to my own post because I see that Adrianza is playing LF today. First career start in the OF according to @joshwhetzel
  23. How much longer can Adrianza be on rehab assignment? What will the Twins do with him at that time? If everyone's still healthy, they don't really have a strong need for him with the big club. As much as TD'ers would like to see DanSan off the roster, Adrianza isn't really his replacement since he doesn't play OF.
