  1. Can we get Greg Oden too? Actually, we might be better off getting Oden: Greg Oden reportedly ?looks unbelievable? as he continues to attempt NBA comeback | The Point Forward - SI.com
  2. IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!! As we know it. And I feel fine. Over-under = 32. Mine doesn't count.
  3. It might have. How bad would you have been if you grew up in Florida or California?
  4. It sounds disgusting. But it has sugar so I'd probably buy it.

    Twins Birthdays--June 4

It looks like J.C. is going to get squeeze every last mile out of his playing career. I can't say I blame him - I kept playing slow-pitch softball until it hurt too much to run around the bases, and there was never any money in that. Some people are critical of guys who hang around way past their primes. Not me - if you're having fun playing and they are willing to pay you...
  6. Then when MLB started testing for steroids the HR totals went way down, which was completely unexpected, given that studies showed they don't help much. I don't know if there have been studies done or not. My point above is that even if there have been studies done and they show little or no correlation, there is reason to be skeptical of the studies.
  7. I don't remember ever hearing about plus velocity for him. I think the best was average with possible plus potential due to his size.
  8. Vargas keeps on hitting. Only one walk in the past 10 games, but if pitchers are going to throw strikes he's doing what he needs to do. I agree with Shane - time to send him to New Britain and see what he can do. 9. The games won't be the same for you with Farquhar and Furbush leaving town. Maybe TR can work a trade.
  10. I'd guess it's because he just doesn't look very athletic. Non-athlete = bad defense. Actual results are irrelevant.
  11. The difference in reward has to justify the difference in risk. The odds of ending up with nothing are high with a HS pitcher. He needs to have a much higher upside to justify drafting him at #4. I would much rather take the high risk picks a bit later in the draft.
  12. I was in the Correa camp, but I try to keep quiet about it now. I am very glad the Twins chose Buxton. That's not what the team that actually drafted him is looking at. Had the Twins taken Appel, we might be trying to figure out who the Twins should take with two high draft picks this year. I'll grant that at #2 he would have been a lot more likely to sign, but he might have held out for #1-slot money and that might have sent him back to school. Also, pitching is always a higher-risk proposition. We might be reading about him dominating AA, or we might be reading about medical reports and TJ surgery. Yes, position players have injuries too, but nowhere near the rate of pitchers. Meanwhile, Buxton is looking like he could possibly turn into a once-in-a-generation kind of talent, and Appel could still possibly fall to #4 this year. I am very glad the Twins chose Buxton.
  13. I met someone who was 33 and a grandmother, so I guess it depends on your perspective. My younger kids would say 33 is old and I'm older than old, but at least I'm not a grandfather yet.
  14. A Matthew Lawton III was arrested for trespassing in Harrison County, MS, on March 26, 2013. I'm guessing that's his son (the former Twin is a Jr.) and wondering if the events are related. I can think of a broad range of possibilities, but they would be just speculation. His wikipedia page mentions he is married with no mention of divorce, although I don't know how well those are updated once players are done playing. I always liked him and he represented the Twins well during some difficult times. (The PED thing came up later and his reaction to it leads me to believe his regret was sincere, not just for being caught but for doing it in the first place.) I want things to go well with him and I want justice to be done. Hopefully this was a misunderstanding of some kind, although "remained in custody a week later with no bond" doesn't sound too good.
  15. If the Twins were drafting #1, Gray would be my preference. (Call it a tie with Appel + a little Oklahoma bias from living here 5 years to break it.)
  16. Is "subtle" code for "not funny" or am I reading too much into that.
  17. You mean the Twins finally found a team they could beat and they only get to play them twice? Bummer.
  18. It could be worse. It could be... Never mind. Where's Drew Butera when you need him?
  19. Who is this "we" you're talking about?
  20. Gomez was with the Twins for 2 years. After 3 seasons in Milwaukee with basically the same stats as he had in Minnesota, he suddenly, at age 27, puts together the start of what could be a career year. Now all of his struggles for the past 5 years are the Twins' fault? Maybe he was still doing things the Mets way.
  21. You couldn't have wrapped up the meeting 45 minutes ago, before the blown save?
  22. He predicted a pinchhit homer, so I'd say they would have a case in this instance.
  23. And Frankie Rodriguez, Scott Klingenbeck, Mike Trombley... When your pitchers stink, you go through a lot of them.
