Leave the judgements and personal assessments out of the discussion and stick to topic. I think we all can address a topic saying why we like or don't like something without the name calling.

    To everyone: There is plenty of judgement going on on both sides here. If you like the wave and want to make arguments for that, do so. Or if you don't think it's so bad, make your points. But let's stop with the personal comments of 'Get over yourself' or referring to the original poster as a jackhole.

    This is the confusion, though, when talking about this. It's NOT Game 163. Yes, while it could be the 163rd game of the year, it is not the 163rd game of regular season play. In an 'official' sense Game 163 is played when determining post season eligibility in case of a tie and is considered to be part of the regular season. The one-game WC game is part of the post season. They aren't the same. Edit: okay, see Brock's post above.

    There's more to that line that that! I think I like our chances better playing one game against the Yankees than the Blue Jays. But for one game it's probably really a toss up ...

    Thanks for answering that question and clearning this up. I wasn't sure. Between this and the 'game 163 playoff' or 'game 163 tiebreaker' or WC game ... lots of confusion!

    Why not eligible for game 163? If a game 163 is needed to determine which team will be the 2nd WC, it's still considered part of the regular season. I thought Santana was only ineligible for post-season play. Am I wrong? No, the WC game is part of the post-season. It is NOT synonymous with a game 163 playoff game. At least that is my understanding. This was discussed in another thread which became very confusing because of the title of the thread. As to when/how they replace Santana for the post-season, I'm not sure about that. I think it would likely work similar to a DL replacement? Would whoever takes Santana's place for the post-season have to be on the 40-man by Sept. 1st? I wouldn't think so but I don't know all the details of these rules.
