  1. Heh ... reminds me of a Reggie Jackson story. Don't remember when it was, but it was against the Twins; and I don't remember if he was trying to steal or was just running to second for a double, or what. But what I do remember was him reaching 2nd after sliding head first and after the play rolling over in fetal position holding his 'man parts,' rocking back and forth. He must've clipped the bag somehow, but something got him 'there.' Reggie being Reggie, so beloved as he was, many in the stands were laughing.
  2. What do you do for that ... a lot of ice?
  3. He probably WAS wearing a cup. It just wasn't enough on something hit that hard coming straight at him.
  4. True story. I was in München during Oktoberfest several years ago. I wasn't there for Oktoberfest but for work and had about 2 hours of free time in total to ... see the city ... so I didn't go. It wasn't exactly close to where I staying or working and is just large and crowded. So, instead, I walked over to the Hofbräuhaus, another Munich institution for a beer and whatever. I don't regret not actually going to Oktoberfest as it truly is just one, large beer garden. Another true story. Another work trip took me to Berlin. We had a day off so some friends/colleagues of mine and I rented a car (a Mercedes, of course, 6-speed manual, don't remember what series) and drove to Dresden. I was behind the wheel driving, on the autobahn, when one of my friends said, "Let's see how fast this will go." He wanted to take a picture of the speedometer, which we switched to mph for this 'experiment,' to send to his brother who was a State Tropper in California. So as I'm gaining speed, he says, "Just push the pedal to the floor," so I did. We topped off at 131mph. There were some cars on the road ahead and they were just coming up too quickly so I slowed down. But because I was only going 85-90mph I need to get out of the left lane. Checked in my rearview mirror, all clear, put my signal on and started to switch lanes when "ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" A car that wasn't there two seconds ago, sped past me on the right. That was it for me. When we get to an Italian themed thread I'll tell you about driving in Italy.
  5. Well said.
  6. And in other news, another mass shooting, involving an assault rifle, which is being called an act of domestic terrorism. I won't post a link because it was carried in just about every news site I follow so I assume you all have read about it already. I'd repost the video of Obama responding to a question by a gun-shop owner, but, well, not sure it's pertinent because I don't know who the shooter was or what his motivation was. Anyway ... only in America.
  7. Perhaps if you didn't use extremely conservative and biased websites to make your case it would give your response more credibility. But for me it doesn't, not one iota. Millions and millions of taxpayers' money were used to 'get something' on the Clintons in the 90s and failed. Are you saying that years of investigations, that uncovered nada, investigations that were done out of dislike for the Clintons by people who disliked them probably more than you, weren't able to find anything because the Clintons were able to make them disappear, that the Clintons were able to do so because they had more resources to do so? Really? Were they really that much more clever than the millions spent and the personnel investigating them? It wasn't that it just disappeared, it was that after years and years and money wasted, there was nothing to find. But what was done was to implant in the minds of many, suspicions and hate that will never die. In the end they impeached him for having an affair and lying about it. And I'm not saying those actions were a good thing, but if that's what we want in a president there should be no reason for anyone to vote for Trump. None. Good for you to vote for Johnson. I hope more on that side of the fence do so. I really do. As for Hillary, the scrutiny she receives, the criticisms she receives, the responses she receives are exponentially worse, more so, than male candidates. The hate she receives from a certain portion of the populace is in the same vein as the hate Obama receives. Much if what gets thrown on her to the degree it gets thrown on her is for one reason only, and it has nothing to do with her politics.
  8. Just no.
  9. I have two words for this ... A and MEN! http://qz.com/644985/privilege-is-what-allows-sanders-supporters-to-say-theyll-never-vote-for-clinton/?utm_source=atlfb
  10. I'm just trying to say ... let's not lump it all into the same category. Believe me, I know it exists. Being female, I know first-hand it exists. I just find it ... I don't think as a society we have made the progress we think we have.
  11. Let's quit perpetuating the 'Clinton hate' meme. Most of it ... yes, most ... is manufactured through years of right-wing propaganda. Yes, she is most definitely a flawed candidate and posters here have given good reasons for not wanting to vote for her, and I respect that difference of opinion. But the hate I see this time around is the same kind of hate Obama got where people can give no coherent reasons, it's just hate ... 'she's evil, she's a horrible human being.' And I think we casually perpetrate it when we don't distinguish between real, genuine hate and political dislike. When I read articles like this, and I still hear Clinton being compared to 'evil' (as in the lesser or greater than), I really just think our society is doomed.
  12. Geez, and there goes Joe swinging at the first pitch again. /snark
  13. Curious if they've added roasted tofu to their selections?
  14. This is why good pitchers don't want to come here. Just awful. I'm really, really soured on Dozier this year.
  15. ****. I blame Dozier, twice, for that.
  16. Do you see the bright red box next to the post that says 'Like'? Click on that. If you are on your phone, touch that check mark on the upper right side of the post you want to like.
  17. Click on the notification icon. When the notification list drops down, click on 'View all notifications.' Then start checking the boxes to the right of the notifications you want to delete. At the bottom of the page click 'Delete.' Done. If you want to mass delete, just click the top box on the right, opposite 'Saved Notifications' and it will check all of them on that page. Then click 'Delete.'
  18. It wasn't so much a question as a statement of gasping wonder.
  19. Wow, mine too! And NE MN, too! What are the odds!
  20. That was never my claim, so it's already rested.
