    I'd accept this if I were the one asking. I wasn't. And I find anyone who doesn't consider court appointments and ramifications of policies while voting short-sighted. But most voters vote for candidates without any reason, really, other than they either like how things are in their lives or they don't and vote candidates in or out based on that and little else.

    Yeah ... I know. I just find that sentiment to be ... short-sighted ... which most voters are.

    Well, it could fall under elections ... dog-friendly bars/restaurants would be covered under local ordinances which could be referendums.

    I work many weekends, rarely both Sat. and Sun., but then have Mondays off. I LOVE having weekdays off. So less crowded for the things I want or need to do.

    Yeah, unfortunately that doesn't help me when the Sox play the Twins at Target.

    And maybe I love my job that much, or enough, that it isn't a better way to spend my time. Just sayin' ...

    So, word on the street is ... and, literally, I heard it on the street as a couple of people in front of me were talking about going to the Sox game tonight ... that it's Polish Night at the Cell tonight ... they'll be serving perogis and potato pancakes!!! Now ... if I weren't working tonight, knowing that might have changed my mind about going to the game. I didn't bother to switch my work schedule around because, well, it's miserable enough watching these games on TV, I didn't really want to be surrounded by chiding Sox fans and be more miserable in person. But man ... a night with perogis????? That might have been a draw for me.

    Yeah, I'm not denying our claim to him ... just that van mentioned a single statue in MN, and I was pointing out, not only are there more than one statue of him in MN, but that there are others in the country that received more notice from Wikipedia.

    I have a friend who answers and speaks German to them. If I'm caught off-guard and answer the rare call, I usually just say, "She's not here right now" when they ask for me. And on some days, there could be truth in that.

    As well as Paul Bunyan Day, it's also Tapioca Day! That's something I could like today ... mix it with some fresh berries and I'm good to go!

    Unless I know the number or name, I just don't answer the phone. And by never answering, I get a LOT fewer calls from telemarketers. I'd give up the landline altogether except that conversing with my hard-of-hearing parents is much better from a landline.
