  1. Does Dallas Keuchel interest anyone and if so what do you think he'll cost this offseason?
  2. Man it seems like this team has just stopped playing.
  3. He covers up so many warts on the Packers it's unreal. They're a terrible team if he's not playing and last year and the first half yesterday proved that.
  4. Good start yesterday for the Vikes. Defense had some mistakes they will need to correct and the offensive line needs to play better but overall I'm happy with the way the team played. Hopefully Pat Elflien comes back soon and maybe they can move Jones to LG to take over for Compton. Tough game this week going to GB but hopefully Rodgers is still gimpy. The Vikes pass rush is much better than the Bears so they should be able to make him feel more uncomfortable and make him move around more than he would want to on that leg.
  5. https://www.news-press.com/story/sports/2018/09/06/minnesota-twins-prospect-alex-kirilloff-leads-surging-fort-myers-miracle/1210227002/ Here is another good story an Kirilloff. https://www.mlb.com/news/2018-pipelines-prospect-team-of-the-year/c-293675566?tid=151437456 Kirilloff made the 2018 Prospects Team of the Year.
  6. I agree that if Mauer and Kepler aren't performing the FO and Molitor would be less likely to bench them for rookies but I don't know if they would for Odorizzi especially if Gonsalves or Thorpe are dominating AAA.
  7. Acuna Jr. played 57 games at AA and 54 games at AAA last year. He then played another 23 games at AAA this year, so he got plenty of experience at the top two levels before moving up to the Braves. Albies played 82 games in 2016 at AA and then 56 games at AAA. In 2017 he played 97 games in AAA. So, the Braves top two young talents both played a minimum of 77 games in AAA. Kirilloff could be on a similar path next season. He could play 60 games at AA and then moves up and plays another 60 games at AAA but that would basically be the entire minor league season. At that point he could then be called up in September, which would be an exceptionally quick track for him since he missed an entire season. Gordon would have likely been on the Twins had he performed at all in AAA this season. Based on how the new FO is operating prospects are moving up much quicker than they did under TR.
  8. So you’d bring all four of them up next year just to see if they sink or swim? Worked great for Hick and Buxton.
  9. There is zero reason to move Gordon up to the MLB until he proves he can actually hit AAA pitching. He has done nothing to deserve a promotion. Lewis will most likely start next season in High A so there is no way he's going to move all the way up to the MLB in 2019. He'll probably spend a month in High A and if he's doing well then move up to AA but I highly doubt he makes it to the MLB. Kiriloff definitely has a chance since he'll start next season in AA but most likely won't get a call up until September. Rooker is really the only one who has a realistic shot since he should start next season at AAA but he definitely needs to cut down on the strikeouts or his bat will never make it.
  10. After looking at the schedule I'm guessing 12-4 with losses @ GB week 2, @ LA week 4, @ NE week 13 and @ Detroit week 16. This defense is legit and got even better with the additions of Iloka, Hughes and Richardson. Offense will be better with the addition of Cousins and having Cook back as well.
  11. My only question is if the Twins do go this route would the good FA pitchers they could potentially try to sign shy away from signing with the Twins because they don't want to go to a team that might use them out of the bullpen? I'm assuming the top couple of FA pitchers every year wouldn't be the type of pitcher used in this scenario but what about the next tier down? The second tier FA pitcher that might fit in this mold - would they be more or less likely to sign with a team like the Twins or a team that doesn't use the "Opener" role?
  12. I think he'll be back for 2019 for sure and depending on how the team does, how he does and how the minor league prospects do he might be back for 2020 as well. If he hits close to .280 with an OBP above .360 and an OPS above .750 I could see him back if the Twins team is progressing. How prospects like Kirilloff and and Rooker do next season and how close they're to the MLB will determine if the Twins want to bring him back in 2020.
  13. Sounds like the Twins won’t be calling Bucton up.
  14. I'm excited to see how Jax, Davis and Rooker do for sure. I was kind of hoping Kiriloff would have gotten a chance but I can understand since this is first full season of pro ball to let him rest in the offseason.
  15. I agree with this. Bring him up in September and let him hit against MLB pitchers. I feel the Twins are going to be in a much better position next year if Buxton does struggle out of the gate. They can easily send him back down to AAA or wherever and go with an outfield of Rosario, Cave and Kepler. The Twins also have some prospects at both AA and AAA they could bring up in a pinch to get them some at bats. AAA: Wade and Granite AA: Rooker, Wiel and Davis
  16. There was only one person on base and two outs. I could totally understand taking him out if Molitor was going to bring in a left to get the final out but he didn't. He brought in May who gave up a pretty hard hit out to center field. Zero reason to take Stewart out in that situation if you're going to bring in another righty.
  17. I don’t like how Molitor pulled Stewart with two outs. This is a lost season and Stewart was pitching better than he had in any other start. Let him try and get out of the inning.
  18. They have done a good job in the two drafts and trading players away, who won't be on the team moving forward, for prospects. The Twins farm system is in the top 10 and some consider it in the top 5. They definitely swung and missed on a number of free agents this past season, but at least they didn't lock any of them up long term. They have set themselves up quite nicely for this offseason because they have a ton of money they can spend. I doubt they will match what they spent this year but they should still be in the $120M range - hopefully more. It's tough to give them an overall grade just yet because the on the field product has lacked. I completely agree with Vanimal that this is a very big offseason for them. How do they read the team this year? Was this a fluky season where a bunch of stuff went wrong and they try to add top talent or do they think the Twins are still a few seasons away and they keep building with some smaller deals?
  19. Seth I appreciate how you almost always see the positive in a situation no matter how things are going. I guess for me it has become frustrating not being able to watch a Minnesota sports franchise win a championship.
  20. Maybe it was a bit harsh but it doesn't change the fact that he's been bad this year. I'm not rooting for him to be bad and in fact I would love it if he turned out to be a great pitcher. I'm just stating the obvious and if the Twins want to take the necessary steps forward players like Magill shouldn't see the field. At least not for extended periods of time. Sure he strikes out roughly a batter per inning but that's really the only thing he has going for him. To take the next step the Twins are going to need at least 1 more shut down BP piece and realistically 2 to go with Rogers, May and Hildy. Edit: Maybe it's fine the Twins have given him a good look this year since it's basically a lost season but he isn't someone I would want as a main bullpen piece going into next season if the Twins are serious about contending. Maybe if he's the 25th man and the FO is willing to drop him if he isn't performing or there is someone better coming up from the minors.
  21. That's the thing he hasn't been good. Below are his numbers on the season. ERA: 4.05 BA: .272 OBP: 337 SLG: 500 OPS: 837
  22. If the Twins want to make a serious run in the playoffs players like Magill shouldn't see the field. He has no place on a championship team.
  23. Yikes. I don't know if I'd give OBJ AKA the headcase that kind of contract.
  24. Yea, it doesn't look like it. But I like this move since Jones started 12 games last year at center and one at guard. It sounds like the reason the Vikings only had to give up a 7th rounder was because the Giants were trying to unload his salary cap as they didn't have much room.
  25. The Vikings traded for Brett Jones who was a center for NY Giants. I don’t know much about him but I’m glad they’re trading for more OL depth.
