  1. If the Twins don't keep him I think his career will continue, either with a team like the Yankees who can afford to pay more for a bench player or a team that has no better alternative at SS or 3B.
  2. This is a more serious issue than most think. Michael Cuddyer injured his back a few years ago falling on his helmet after it came off. And I think it was last year that a Twins player (Danny Santana?) had to go on the DL with a cut to the face from his loose helmet falling off and bouncing back as he slid. My guess is that Nunez wants his helmet to fit loose but I think the equipment manager and PM should insist on him wearing a tighter helmet.
  3. Sometimes I wish we had "Dislike This" buttons to click.
  4. Corey Provus made a point during last night's broadcast that Dozier scores over 50% of the time he reaches base and that there are very few players who do that more frequently. I thought that was interesting. Any of the stat heads here care to flesh that out?
  5. I'm having a last-four-years flashback.
  6. I think that's it in a nutshell; they don't feel he's fully rehabbed yet.
  7. blairpaul715 and nicksaviking, I agree with both of you. Based on suggestions (or demands, which is probably not an inaccurate description) I have read, many fans seem to think calling up all the prospects will result in the team playing in the postseason. This is, of course, ridiculous, and I'm sure the front office feels the same way or said call-ups would have been made. I think the front office makes their roster decisions based on, first, what they feel is best for the development of the team's prospects, and, second, winning games at the major league level in 2015. Buxton would not have been called up if Hicks hadn't been injured. Meyer wouldn't have been called up if Nolasco hadn't been injured. And Sano won't be called up unless Plouffe is injured or unless he is totally en fuego.
  8. This is an accurate statement. This is not your 1927 Yankees. This is a team that will finish at around .500 if its players do as well as can reasonably be expected. And that's better than almost everyone expected when the season began. So don't worry. Be happy!
  9. This reminds me of the discussion we had a month or two ago about having a pitching staff with only relievers. The only difference with this approach is that the starters go 5-6 innings instead of 2-3. And as has been said before a reliable power pen is required for this to work.
  10. I do not agree that Hicks has failed again.
  11. 21.6. Must have been a fat-finger slip.
  12. So this game could be significant for a pitcher. Lohse defeats his 30th team or Meyer gets his first win.
  13. OK, here's the answer. It's Felipe, Matty, Jesus and Boog.
  14. Moises was a son, not a brother.
  15. The bullpen has been activated...
  16. Can anyone name the four Alou brothers?
  17. Cripes! Do we have a hard-throwing right hander in the pen?
  18. The Yankees used to have one too. Babe.
  19. Well, at least you look older than your brother
  20. Uh, you do know that Miller Park has a roof on it? And that it's closed tonight?
  21. The Twins are the only team Lohse has not defeated. But in spite of his extensive experience he still doesn't know that you never, ever throw Dozier a high fastball.
  22. Even experienced athletes can injure themselves on clumsy plays, but looking at the slide this injury looks very much like a rookie mistake. I agree with those who have said that minor league coaching should include teaching proper base running techniques, especially sliding. This is not something players should be learning on their own on a trial and error basis.
  23. The thing is, there are already six other starters on the Ft. Myers roster. I thought I had read that the plan was to use him in relief for now and then work him in as a starter next spring. Guess we'll see.
