  1. Someone who finally gets it!
  2. Maybe because it's not true.
  3. Molly is working diligently to make our favorite team better defensively. Can't imagine he will take a step backwards and allow Pinto behind the plate.
  4. I had that same thought. I've read 3 or 4 minor league scouting reports when he was younger, and there is no hint he can't be an average defender.
  5. There are so few of those, they are real easy to miss. The handful of Good Winners on the board would certainly endorse this practice.
  6. There is no way everything a catcher does is measurable. If the guys on the team really like the catcher, he's a good player. If Glen Perkins rips a catcher in the paper, that means Pinto sucks.
  7. If the key word is "phenom", I'm going with Stewart.
  8. Stewart. It's a big deal for a multi-sport athlete to go from a thrower to a pitcher, while battling heath concerns. 50% is makeup, 25% is scouting, only 25% is stats. Still on the path to being a frontline starter.
  9. I agree, time to deal for bullpen help. Long term, the draft classes of 2012 and 2014, and our two Rule 5 pickups will fix it. But, to win now we need to deal.
  10. I think their exact words were, Rosario will play second when Mauer catches.
  11. He sits out there with the bullpen guys. He can't throw the first pitch, but is eligible to throw every one thereafter. Doesn't sound like limbo to me. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the David Ortiz situation in 2002, what # would you assign this limbo?
  12. That's an argument they know they can't win. Several teams draft better, several draft worse. The majority are right in the middle with our favorite team over time.
  13. Dave, I never took you for a hindsight guy. Add Hughes and increase it to 150M, and I would say no. Then again I don't play fan board fantasy.
  14. Way too much hindsight. Our favorite team has all kinds of money they can spent, and Hughes, Santana, and Nolasco are far from non-performing contracts at this point. Six or seven competent starting pitchers is not too many.
  15. The Ortiz deal was 13 years ago.
  16. Yeah, our favorite team has done that historically every 13 years.
  17. Why? He's made the HOF as a scout and it's just a matter of time until he does as a GM.
  18. Mike, maybe the guys will hold you down and give you a dose of patience.
  19. When you have the ability to sign a Sano, Polanco, and Kepler in one class, does it really matter?
  20. The past several years when our favorite team couldn't possibly compete, the win now guys were thick as mosquitos. I wonder what happened to those guys. Regardless, Ryan is going for the jugular.
  21. Buxton didn't look embarrassed to me in his first 37 AB's.
  22. Continuing to use a vet who has been lights out is hardly appeasement. May, may or may not be a cornerstone of the future. Also, there are some on the board who believe the future is right now.
  23. I would guess we won't need them for at least a year. Now that they're healthy, I would watch the 2012 Draft Class. Also, I would be surprised if we don't acquire a veteran lefty at the deadline.
  24. I think the board has been showing remarkable constraint. After all, Buxton struck out in his first PA and no one berated the FO for not selling high.
