  1. The GM for America's Team was hired several weeks before TR and King Theo. With the Reinsdorf checkbook, he was able to thrill Chicago fans with 7 consecutive losing seasons. Why not check back prior to the 2022 season, to see if they have figured out they're a large market team yet?
  2. Name 5 teams where Berrios would clearly be a middle rotation guy. For your convenience, MLB.com just listed every team's rotation.
  3. MLB.com just rated our overall offseason as excellent. Their power ranking have us 4th. But you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
  4. The Twins ended 4th. All's well that ends well. Also, they recently said our overall offseason was excellent.
  5. MLB.com currently has Cleveland rated 14th on their power ranking, down from 11th where they ended lasted season. They spent pennies in free agency. I don't expect them or America's Team even hanging around til the deadline.
  6. We've already won the numbers game for relievers.
  7. Give Cleveland credit for being a well run organization. IMHO, we are roughly following their model for developing starting pitching.
  8. Virtually every team has had pitching issues the last 3+ years and this trend shows no signs of going away. I never thought I'd live to see dumpster diving become fashionable. Being ranked the 4th best team by MLB.com, means the corner we've painted ourselves into is huge.
  9. Couldn't help noticing MLB.com power rankings have us 4th, and your favorite team 8th. We appreciate your help, but are you comfortable leaving the Cards behind in their time of need?
  10. No team in baseball is going to pay anywhere near 96M for Price. We can afford to wait the Sox out. If we offer 3 years for 10-12 per, the Pohlads may bite.
  11. We have signed 8 free agents for 152M. 4 of which were in MLBTR's top 50, and 2 in that group starting pitchers in their top 20. We have 3 healthy starters who have already spent time in The Show, fighting over 1.25 spots. Our highly rated and deep farm system remains intact. No doubt we will trade for a #3, before we do battle with our old friends, the Yankees.
  12. One of 4 starters added at the 2018 trade deadline. At some point in time, starting pitching becomes a numbers game.
  13. Agree, Pittsburgh wants young prospects. I wouldn't move a starting pitching prospect over A ball. Use Cleveland as a road map.
  14. You need to be very careful about saying anything positive about TR. LaVelle personally told me, and others who read the Sunday sports page, TR was in charge of IFA during the Bill Smith era.
  15. I'm confident we will pick up a #3 at some point in time and deal with the Yankees accordingly.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe last time you blamed coaching. Mindset, coaching it really doesn't matter. There are 29 other teams out there, if our favorite team is offered starting pitching value I'm sure they would consider it.
  17. Thorpe and Smeltzer foretell the future. Thorpe comes from TR's IFA initiative and Smeltzer from Falvey's storied 2018 trade deadline moves.
  18. I can't believe the board is embracing dumpster diving. Thorpe and/or Smeltzer will handle the 6 game or so Pineda void just fine.
  19. Toronto flushed 80M down the toilet on Ryu, we gambled 3M on Hill. Baseball is indeed a weird business.
  20. During an offseason where dumpster diving suddenly became fashionable, I like this move.
  21. The Astros drafted 1-1 two years in a row. The first is out of baseball. Last I heard, the second is injury prone and/or buried in A ball.
  22. They are not going to develop starting pitchers just to turnaround and trade them. Unlikely they move any starting pitcher over A ball.
  23. The pain will go away quickly, as the rich get richer.
  24. America's Team still hasn't decided if they are a large market team or not. Reinsdorf is the only owner I'm aware of worse than the Pohlads.
