    I'm not there yet, but agree with your thinking long term. I would make Lynn or Cobb the "P" word.

    Which they were. We have already had one meltdown this week where members were allowed to direct their pent up hatred towards the FO. Time to move on, so stop trying to fan the flames.

    You don't break up a winning team. I remember before last season, members wanted to trade those 2 for pie-in-the sky which would have dragged out the rebuild until the 2020's.

    Baseball is cyclical for mid-market teams, but the period the competitive window is open varies. You should know by now we are a mid-market team, not a small market team. Let me repeat something I have said before. Note, I will not guarantee it, I will merely foretell it. When the 2021 seasons ends, we will look back and see we were in the hunt 6 of the past 7 years. I know this will be disappointing to some.

    TR completed the tear down process very early on when he traded for Alex Meyer and Trevor May. I have no idea where the thought of a 2nd tear down could possibly have come from. It's no secret Falvey asked TR to stay on as soon as he took the job. Also, Falvey and Levine have gone out of their way to give TR the credit for the foundation of the team. It's time to rock and roll.

    The Cubbies are a large market team. I read rumors the Darvish group was waiting for the Dodgers to dump Kemp and the Yankees to dump Ellsbury. Some people just don't like it in the land of the cattle and the wheat and the folks that can't be beat.

    That wasn't a spectacle, they were merely doing their jobs. After losing the Darvish derby, Falvey and Levine, went home, kissed the wife and kids, played with dog, and are now back at it. Everybody who's anybody, loses one now and then.

    I've been all for opening up the farm system for trades for the past 2 years, until I heard Kepler mentioned. I view him as a borderline All-Star sometime in the future. I'm all for dealing fat, but it's too early to be dealing muscle.

    Nolasco was marginal his first year. He was 5-1 in the second after a month, then missed the rest of the year, until a late start. He was marginal in the 3rd, before Rob Antony earned his place in Twins history, by dumping him on the Angels at the trade deadline. I don't downgrade players, due to injuries, I agree with the C.

    I agree with the original signing grade, but would give a B for the extension. Most extensions come after a good year, which it did, and 3 years for 39M was reasonable for both sides. Injuries are part of the game, and I refuse to downgrade a player, for what is part of the game. Also, I'm not big on hindsight.

    Since our position prospects have always been ahead of our starting pitching prospects, the thought of playing beer ball has crossed my mind. I'll start bringing my glove to the ballpark again.

    Without doing any research, it appears the mid-market Cardinals have had the window open the longest. Before them, possibly the Braves. I've said before, if a large market team is firing on all cylinders, it's near impossible for a mid-market team to compete. Fortunately, they often shoot themselves in the foot with large, long term contracts. I think very highly of Theo, but I doubt he will survive the 6 year anchor around his neck.

    They have made 4 solid moves already in this free agency period. It certainly looks like we have the numbers etc., to fix the bullpen. No doubt that fire you were alluding to, will be put out before the fat lady sings.

    I like Nola also. He was labeled quick to the The Show, but with a ceiling of a #3. I would take a shot if he's available.

    If he's great you have him for 2 years. If he sucks, you get him for 4 more. How can you not love that deal?

    I'm been getting the exact opposite read. I've had to listen for 2 offseasons now that Santana will regress, when there has been absolutely no signs.

    Correct. They did not get done what they prefered to do. They don't have to rationalize to go to plan B or even plan C. Did you think they were going to fall on their sword if they didn't get that one guy?
