    Ya, sure, you betcha. We were like Garrison Keillor's family. Never had an AC unit growing up- and my sis and I would find some reason to go to the neighbor's, whose kids we didn't really like, to bask in the coolness of their one window unit. And in the car, my dad would tell us we had "4-60" air con: 4 windows down, 60 Mph. Here in sultry, sweltering SE Asia, AC is a necessity. It's always just perplexing, though, and so utterly wasteful, that thing that I'll never understand as long as I live, and I'm sure you'll all concur- why in the H, do they have to make every single air conditioned space as freaking arctic-cold as possible? It's a shock to the system- and why you see HK ladies on a blisteringly hot day carrying their sweaters and shawls around, because as soon as they go into a building, it's a freezer. Today, for example, 8:30 AM right now, and, let's see-- oh, heck, it's only 30, with 85% humidity. Pretty good start to the day. And then, of course, the usual monsoon around lunchtime... (that's 84 for you imperialist Western running dogs).

    They didn't get off to a great start, but things are looking better there lately, and with the addition of pitching from Ft. Meyers, they could have a heck of a 2nd half. Palka has been a breath of fresh air, but he is a bit above AA age level, no? But the one guy who excites me the most is that Granite kid. #1, he's got the most awesome name for a ballplayer. #2, jeepers, for how long have we needed a legit leadoff hitter on the big club? I'm looking forward to seeing him in AAA next year, and maybe the big club the year after that-- fingers crossed.

    I think a part of the Arcia problem is the lingering hangover of David Ortiz. They don't play him nearly enough because they're afraid of Ks and poor defense. But they don't trade or release him because they're afraid of giving up the next Big Papi for nothing. There have been injuries and bad roster decisions that have necessitated some moves, but in light of that, Molly has seen fit to sit the guy for weeks at a time, and not even PH him in situations that just scream for a lefty with potential pop- heck, he wasn't even getting garbage time for long stretches. One of the silver linings of a lost season like this is the opportunity to see what you've got in the youngsters; let 'em take their lumps and learn, while being evaluated. Good for the team to get a look, good for the fans, to keep them interested. But Molly has mis-managed so many of the young guys both last year, and especially this one, (Sano to the OF, fer cryin' out loud), and Arcia is maybe the biggest casualty of all.

    Aw, AJ! Missed ya, buddy! Heh... gotta love that GameDay thingy, what with the "84 mph 2-seam fastball," followed by that "83 mph changeup." How to tell the difference, hmmmm... That's really got to throw those MLB hitters off, even Twinkie ones.

    Boy, it sure is nice to enjoy a game into the latter third for a change. But, while most teams' fans can relax a little at this point-- let's see- 6 runs, with 9 outs to go... still feels like a ticking time bomb.

    Wow, letting the runs pile on in the later innings, kicking the ball around every which way... Is the "Twins' Way" contagious? Them Angels got it ba-a-a-a-a-d.

    Heh... I HATE those rocks. I lived in LA for the 2000's, til I mistakenly took a wrong turn and came East- But had to go to that godforsaken OC for my Twinkie fix every year- (and also the Yanks- cuz it would get ROWDY- that's another tale for another time) But, in those early 00's, Disney still owned them, and also the Ducks, and it was nothing more than a cross-marketing opportunity for them. Get those turistas to stay in the same Disney hotel, and hit Disneyland and a ballgame or hockey game on the same trip. $$$ That's when they had those truly, truly, worse-than-the-70s-Astros uniforms, with the angel wings on the PERIWINKLE jerseys, (cross marketing for their 'Angels in the Outfield" movie), and the Ducks, of course, (cross-marketing for their 'Mighty Ducks' I-VII), in their signature maroon-and-teal. (TEAL!). So, Disney had just opened their "California Adventure" theme park, and that's when they put those ridiculous, stupefying rocks in the ballpark- to slyly suggest to baseball fans, that, 'Hey, I wonder why I suddenly feel the need to visit Disneyland's least-attended theme park..." When Artie Moreno took over mid-decade, and made the Angels be from LA again, and got rid of those unsightly periwinkles for major-league red, I thought he'd maybe get rid of those stupid rocks, too, but.... bridge too far, I guess.

    Hey, Ricky battled Trout pretty well there. Aggies, I'm calling this one- we don't trail today. For what, the 3rd time ALL SEASON?!? I'm still callin' it.

    Well, carp.... Looks like they even got my Russian gambling stream. Half the male teachers in the office have some NBA game streaming. And the same site, I can get freakin' Portugal vs. flippin' Iceland in some stupid soccer competition, but baseball? Nooooooo......
