  1. I also wonder how this relates to Falvey's famed "weighted ball training" we've heard about.
  2. For those not in the know-- who do you look like?
  3. Tell Kennys to stop walking into your shot!
  4. To be fair to KLAW, I read his comment as he was the only one asserting that Berrios may not be a #2, and to not lump others into this stance, which may very well be incorrect.
  5. Interesting-- not to highjack the thread- but why do you think that is? Pitching has gotten better? Or is it that players are more focused on OBP, and K/BB rather than just BA, and so BA drops off?
  6. I suspect Castro will get most of the starts early versus RHP. Murphy will platoon against LHP. Hopefully Garver will play mgmt's hand and will be the RH platoon option against LHP by mid season. If not-- I sure hope it's cuz Murphy is crushing it. I still see him as a potential .270 BA guy.
  7. Gotta have Mary-Kate at the keystone...
  8. Over.
  9. We went to game 163 against Chi in 08. In fact, this game was just referenced in the Broadcaster thread for the amazing Carlos Gomez- Telly Hughes interview that immediately followed the game.
  10. Was that 08 or 09???
  11. Also, maybe Justin was always Joe's veteran mentor and that's why Joe hasn't been the same. SIGN BACK JOE'S MENTOR!
  12. I want to add to this-- It feels like the FO is doing everything it can to make it seem like the situation is ripe for a Morneau signing. For instance, a few weeks ago "both sides agreed there is no space right now." Then Park gets DFA'd, then there's talk of veteran leadership needed, then there's talk of a LH DH needed. It's like jeez, just sign him already so we can all start complaining...
  13. Out of those names, and if this is a must-- I'd want Justin out of all of them. He was okay down the stretch for the Sox last year, and probably wants to give the fans in MN something to cheer for. He's got a personal motivator to come back and perform. If they're looking for LH DH option who will act as a veteran presence and teach kids how to win in MN-- I don't really see any other choice. Also, I've been hyper critical of the Morneau reunion since the rumblings started-- now it's looking inevitable based on the logic of this regime.
  14. I dunnnnno, I do half-heartedly read a lot of blogs...
  15. I'm a 30 year old guy who grew up in various western burbs of the cities. Was a big Kirby fan as a little kid, but my love of the game and the Twins tapered off around the time he retired. However, around the age of 16 or 17 I had a rekindled interest and fell in love with the 04 Red Sox. This re-spawned my love of the game and interest in our local 9. While I was a Kirby fan as a kid, I've always actually preferred infielders, and still prefer to play there in my Slowpitch leagues. My favorite Twins memory is going to a Twin-White Sox game in 2008 (possibly 09???). With about a week left in the season, we were playing the White Sox who had been in first place for most regular schedule. As it happened seemingly every year in those days, the Twins made a push for first place in the final days of the season. I went to the game with my pops, and sat on the 3rd base side in the Dome-- maybe 15 rows up. The Sox had been up most of the game, in part due to a misplay against the baggy in the left center between Span and Gomez that allowed runners to advance. The Dome was packed, and a win would mean first place with a week left in the regular season. In the final inning, Span tripled and Casilla knocked him in with a blooper over the infield to win it. The place erupted. Excellent memory that I'm glad I was able to share with my dad. I currently live in Richfield with my wife and two dogs, and am an executive at a design firm, but have also been a semi-professional musician at various points in my life. I always come to Twins Daily to see the most up-to-date Twins news compiled for me, and to read through the generally thoughtful insight provided by its many users. Nice thread! Thanks for having me!
  16. The further we get, the more I realize a Bautista signing would have made all the sense.
  17. **start the chant** HIS NAME IS PAUL MOLITOR. HIS NAME IS PAUL MOLITOR. HIS NA...
  18. If they were keen on not using Sano at 3rd, wouldn't Polanco be the obvious choice rather than signing a FA, and move Sano to DH? Vargas then becomes a bench bat?
  19. Is today the first day this week where we haven't had a roster move to discuss?
  20. For better for worse, I'm the type of who will look at the same set of facts over and over as if I expect some new unexplored solution will pop out at me. Like for instance: maybe, just maybe there was a previously unknown clause in Mauer's contract that stipulated: "Joe Mauer, herein known solely as 'Employee': -Employee foregoes all agreed upon compensation should he fail to win three (3) or more batting titles within the first six (6) years of contract. -Employee forgoes his position on the roster should the Twins establish a new "Face Of The Franchise." -Employee will only retain all agreed upon positional fortitude and compensation if and only if Bert Blyleven can pronounce each and every foreign-born player's name correctly on his first try. -Should Employee abandon his iconic "Sideburns-for-days" look, contract becomes null-and-void." I dunno-- it could happen.
  21. I saw that this thread had gotten to 3 pages, and my initial thought was "how can they still be talking about this." But my second thought was "omg they found a loophole..."
  22. Were you also struck by amount of typos in that entire article? It was amazing.
  23. Haha yes, it's true. And yes, Polanco. Thanks for the discourse!
  24. Touche' But yes- you're right. I just don't see how he's not taking reps at SS everyday. I know this was discussed in another thread-- but he's also hurting his own earning potential. How is he not doing everything to be a Major League Short Stop???
