  1. I see what you're saying. But does Sam Fuld hold absolutely zero value? Would a team who needed SP, and potentially had an excess at another position be okay sliding Milone into their spot and giving up something potentially somewhat useful? Milone is NOT good. But does he not have value as someone who can throw a ball for potentially 6 innings, irritate some particularly sensitive LH hitters, and be relatively inexpensive? There is value there-- not a ton--but it is there. Teams need starting pitching, in excess amounts, and Milone is just that: A somewhat sub-replacement level, soft tossing, south paw. No one expects him to dominate, but then again, most pitchers don't dominate. Aside from teams that stock pile Cy Young winners, most teams have one or two below average guys taking up spots on their roster. Why couldn't Milone be one of them for another team? Remember in SuperBad when the two main characters are lamenting about their bad luck and poor prospects with women? One of them says, "You always hear about women talking about how they made a mistake when they slept with such and such a guy? We could be that mistake!" Milone will pitch for someone this season, and it may be the Twins, or possibly someone else. Bottom line, someome will have use for his very specific skil set.
  2. I think Suzuki will be very valuable as a trade chip if he has a similar season to last year. People make stupid trades for established talent (See: Matt Capps), especially if they feel they are one piece from taking the jump. I do see Catcher as the Twins most glaring hole for the future. We have legitimate potential options pipelined for CF, MI, Corner spots, Starting Pitching (though never enough ), and some great flamethrowers for future 'pen usage. Unless Pinto takes on the backup DH, 1B role, or magically gets good at throwing out runners and framing strikes, he doesn't have much value anymore. Anyone know of potential catchers on the trade market?
  3. I can't help but feel like the Twins have had plans to trade either Milone or Pelf depending on what they saw this spring. I'm betting that posturing Milone as a starter, as well as his middle of the road numbers (and left handedness) will bring him some attention on the trade market. They're banking on there being interest, and moving Pelfrey into the rotation as soon as Milone has been moved. Seems like a solid strategic marketing/sales move on the Twins' part. Regardless, Pelfrey will pitch in the rotation at some point this year if he continues to perform. If his velocity does in fact increase with a decreased work load, than we could have a pretty solid RH, and LH option at the back of the pen. :-)
