  1. I'd tender everyone except Kintzler. He did well last year, but I'm having flashbacks of Casey Fien thinking about him. I'd rather give the spot to one of the awesome RP prospects we've been waiting for the last 2 years.
  2. You got it! TR found his target and made the deal in mid-November. Followed up by Park signing in early December. After that, 2-3 minor league signings the rest of the way.
  3. Let's hope they continue this "strong start" throughout the off-season. TR was working pretty quickly himself the last couple of off-seasons then went radio silent from December through March. Let's try to get some trades done, then everyone will jump on the love train patting these guys on the back.
  4. Welcome to Twins Daily! Excellent first impression.... Hope you can keep it up! You're right, I wouldn't put it past the Cardinals to make a play since the Cubs are now the team to beat in their division. Reyes would be a great get from them, and I would have zero issue including a prospect or 2 from the Twins to make it happen.
  5. I guess it's going to be Claeys for the foreseeable future.
  6. We got our answer this afternoon.... Claeys has the AD's "full support" and an extension should be announced soon. Ugh.
  7. Sad, but true. Realistically, I don't expect this program to ever get up to Ohio State, Penn State or Michigan's level of excellence... I think Iowa is a good comp for what the Gophers could do. Have a couple of down years every now and again, but once every 4-5 years, produce an excellent team (10+ wins) that contends for a Big 10 championship.
  8. Pictured: Dinger and his cat prior to getting kicked off the couch for the Gilmore Girls Reunion show.
  9. The first episode of the series was a complete mind bleep.... Didn't realize this was a show that reset after each episode like the Twilight Zone. That one still sticks out to me as a crazy, but completely believable concept that could happen.
  10. My perspective on TR's All or Nothing mentality was he wanted ALL of Mike Pelfrey's years and sold him for NOTHING.
  11. U of M Regents Chair Dean Johnson voiced strong support for Tracy Claeys in the fish wrap west side. “But when you look at these matters, you have to look at the totality of the season, and 8-4 is very respectable,” Johnson said. “Tracy Claeys, in my opinion, has done a very good job. He’s assembled a great coaching staff with great values." “When all is said and done, stability is a good thing. Stability in any program — and yes, with appropriate adjustments — but you start changing out personnel, you’ve got these players who have to get to know new coaches. So I err on the side of stability.” So he's fine with mediocrity....
  12. Concur. Claeys should be let go on Monday. Even though this is technically his 1st full season as HC, I view it as his 6th year running the program. There hasn't been enough improvement to prompt an extension. As soon as he's out, I'm calling the NDSU head coach for an interview.
  13. Pedro Martinez... what a scrub. #3 pitcher at best since he's 5'11"
  14. He may or may not regress. There are plenty of catchers in their 30's that are doing a fine job behind the plate. Bottom line is this 3 year contract isn't going to cripple the payroll for the Twins. There's a solid 3 year window before Buxton, Sano, Kepler, Berrios, and pick your flavor prospect become multi-millionaires. This is a perfect time to pay a premium price for someone who they feel is going to help a young pitching staff, and bring stability to a positional need in the organization.
  15. If there's any consolation in that trade, Aaron Hicks was pretty bad too. So no blood lost in this trade battle. I do agree that the clock is ticking for JRM. He probably gets one more shot next year to prove he's a worthy backup. Otherwise he'll be AAA fodder and Garver takes over the backup spot.
  16. Thanks for helping me waste soooo much time during the week days... I wouldn't change a thing! This is an awesome community of people who love Twins baseball.
  17. Woah man... It's way to early for our minds to be blown like this. http://img.pandawhale.com/post-28553-Steve-Jobs-mind-blown-gif-HD-T-pVbd.gif
  18. Stumbled upon Black Mirror on Netflix... Holy buckets is that an interesting show! Anyone else dive into this yet?
  19. Hope he is a defensive wizard behind the plate! Anything to help out a young pitching staff gets a thumbs up.
  20. Plouffe was a valuable piece for the roster when he was hitting in the .750 OPS range making $1-4 million. He's no longer valuable at $8 million without improvement at the plate, and declining skills in the field. I could see the Brewers or some other rebuilding team giving him a shot to start at 3B for 2 years in the $10-14 million range. He may have to wait until March to sign that kind of contract though.
  21. Nothing better than a good fall cleaning. Good luck to both of them. Keep it coming, Falvey & Levine!
  22. Concur with Nick. The Twins need a starting caliber C this off-season... Not sold on JRM or Garver as Option A to start the season. That being said, this list is gross. They need to aim much higher than this. Castro is the guy we all seem to have our eyes on. gSutter brought up some good potential trade targets with Plawecki / d'Arnaud in New York, or one of the 3 C in San Diego. If Castro can't be had, call up San Diego, who's in tear down mode, and toss a prospect or 2 their way for Hedges, Norris, or Bethancourt.
  23. He's another year older and hasn't progressed past AA is my guess.... Wouldn't lose any sleep if he were drafted by another team again.
  24. Sano and Berrios are the top priorities for bounce back seasons since they're integral players for the future. The Twins need any and all pitchers to do well, so let's go Gibson! Plouffe's gotta go.
  25. I know the NFL is experiencing a lack of good QBs in the league.... But if Leidner is in a QB competition 5 years down the road, shut down the NFL.
