    I assume so. Just saw the note this morning that the 1st round pick is protected since the Twins are a bottom 10 team.

    I wouldn't call signing Joey Bats a contending move... It would be a strategic move for the team if he continues to mash at Target Field, and flip him to a contender in July.

    Also, Jose Bautista related: His career numbers at Target Field: 21 games played, .349/.429/.895 (1.324 OPS!!) 14 HR 23 RBI It may be a pipe dream, but I'd call him up today to see if he wants to rebuild his value with the Twins.

    Doesn't appear that the contending teams want to give up the 1st round pick to sign him. BUT, a bottom feeding team like the Twins? Why the heck not is right! Even in a down year he still managed a .817 OPS. There's room for him here.

    Our old friend Chris Collabello is now a free agent.... Another interesting note I read on MLB Trade Rumors.... Ken Rosenthal explained if Jose Bautista signed with a team that had a bottom 10 record, they wouldn't have to give up a 1st round pick. I'm back on board to signing Joey Bats... More bat flips please!!

    I'm glad the Twins are moving on from acquiring anyone with a pulse that can throw over 95 MPH... They could find someone throwing 115 MPH, but if they can't locate the pitch, then it provides little value for the pitcher.

    Maybe Falvey wants a couple of his former Cleveland prospects back from the Yankees.... Luis Severino would be high on my list of Yankees players to acquire.

    Closer Mark Melancon signed with the San Francisco Giants for 4 years, $62 million.

    So we watched the Shut Up and Dance episode this weekend. Good god that is a mind bleep.... That takes the cake as the best episode in the series.

    There's all these rumors out there that the Nationals are interested in acquiring both Sale and McCutchen. Along with being involved in both Melancon and Jansen for the open closer role. Are they coming to the conclusion that they won't be able to afford Harper and are trying to go for it right now?

    Twins fans could go back and forth about who to trade and what to target in the past, but know nothing really was going to happen. This year with the new regime is a different feeling. I do think Falvey and Co. could trade Dozier in the next couple of days, and maybe make another splash at these meetings.

    Also, don't forget inexplicably starting Logan Schafer for 19 (!!) games during the month of September. It was a very clear message of why bother from August until the end of the season.... They were done trying to work in any young position players

    The whole rule to make the ASG winner have home field advantage was silly from the get go. A cheesy marketing ploy "This time it counts!" that lasted far too long. Cleveland was able to get home field advantage because Johnny Cueto was hit around by the Royals' Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez.... Let that sink in for a second. Players that had minimal impact, or zero impact on a playoff team playing a significant factor on who gets home field advantage for the World Series.

    I'm having flashbacks of the same arguments we were making last year.... That being Fien is cheap and pitched well last year (last year being 2015), let's roll the dice again! Don't know this as fact, but I would assume that Kintzler was floated around as trade bait and no one was hooked. Though it's possible they didn't float him at all and wanted him on the team all season.

    I'd tender everyone except Kintzler. He did well last year, but I'm having flashbacks of Casey Fien thinking about him. I'd rather give the spot to one of the awesome RP prospects we've been waiting for the last 2 years.

    You got it! TR found his target and made the deal in mid-November. Followed up by Park signing in early December. After that, 2-3 minor league signings the rest of the way.

    Let's hope they continue this "strong start" throughout the off-season. TR was working pretty quickly himself the last couple of off-seasons then went radio silent from December through March. Let's try to get some trades done, then everyone will jump on the love train patting these guys on the back.

    Welcome to Twins Daily! Excellent first impression.... Hope you can keep it up! You're right, I wouldn't put it past the Cardinals to make a play since the Cubs are now the team to beat in their division. Reyes would be a great get from them, and I would have zero issue including a prospect or 2 from the Twins to make it happen.

    I guess it's going to be Claeys for the foreseeable future.

    We got our answer this afternoon.... Claeys has the AD's "full support" and an extension should be announced soon. Ugh.

    Sad, but true. Realistically, I don't expect this program to ever get up to Ohio State, Penn State or Michigan's level of excellence... I think Iowa is a good comp for what the Gophers could do. Have a couple of down years every now and again, but once every 4-5 years, produce an excellent team (10+ wins) that contends for a Big 10 championship.

    The first episode of the series was a complete mind bleep.... Didn't realize this was a show that reset after each episode like the Twilight Zone. That one still sticks out to me as a crazy, but completely believable concept that could happen.
