    Yet the bigger MLB markets have gone above and beyond in the international market. Yoan Moncada was a $32 million player. SP Yadiel Alvarez for the Dodgers was a $16 million player SS Lucius Fox for the Giants $6 million. I don't agree they have done enough to not warrant criticism.

    Concur with roger and Thrylos that only players that actually signed should be included on the list.... Also, there should be something said about what exact value the teams see. Sure, Matt Garza has 12.5 bWar, but how much did the Twins see of that? 1?

    To start the year it's probably E San, Gibson, Santiago, Berrios, May or Hughes. Though I would hope once the season gets rolling that they shuffle the cards until they find something that works.

    Oh boy! Those PTBNL trades have worked out so well for the Twins in the past....

    It's nice when they have legitimate MLB players to trade, unlike the Twins at the time.... It all depends on the White Sox ability to develop these guys. They are notorious for rushing guys through the system and letting people sink or swim in the MLB.

    I think in the ESPN article I read they said Eaton has 2 team options for 2020 and 2021 for a reasonable price in the $10 million range.

    Fine with me. Though I would like to strike while the iron is hot... And apparently some of these GMs are getting drunk at the hotel to make some of these trades.

    Well, we as fans tend to over rate prospects every year. Eaton's been sneaky good the last 3 years, and topped out at 6 WAR this year. He's 28 and signed through his age 33 season where you'd want to get rid of him at that point. The ball is in the White Sox' court to make this a good deal from their side. Fix Giolito and develop the other 2 prospects.

    Yeah Eaton was a 6 WAR player this year and under contract for another 5 years at a reasonable rate. He certainly has a lot of value as a top of the order hitter. I'm wondering if the Nats are trying to get out while they're ahead with Giolito. They seemed pretty hell-bent on trading him this winter.

    Why do I have a feeling that the Nationals know something about Giolito that they're not telling us? I get he's their best trade chip from a prospect standpoint, but he's been involved in a ton of trade rumors this off-season.

    That is quite the head scratcher if Desmond is really going to play 1B for them... Hell, the Twins have plenty of them to trade away. No reason to pay Desmond that kind of money!

    Yeah good points. I could have just looked at myself in the mirror and think about my fandom with the Minnesota Vikings.... If they're doing good, everyone's excited and shouting from the rooftops "Super Bowl Homeboy!!" When they're struggling, and it's a nice day outside, I'm choosing to golf instead of watching them play.

    Wouldn't you say most Twins fans are casual fans because they haven't been competitive for a long time?

    Concur. No one is buying tickets specifically to watch Dozier or any other player. If they did, then Target Field would have been sold out every game last season during Dozier's historic tear at the plate. They buy tickets for winning teams.

    That's a risky proposition to keep Erv... Crossing fingers that he can put together another solid season at 34 years old.

    Drew Pomeranz is also rumored to be expendable for Boston too. Do you like Bucholz more than Pomeranz?

    That and Soler has been hurt quite a bit throughout his career. He would get hot for a bit, hit a few HRs, then land on the DL. Knowing how they've built their team the last couple of years, I'm surprised they felt Soler was their guy. Someone with more defensive flexibility like Almora makes more sense for them.

    Davis to the Cubs makes a lot of sense. No idea why the Royals are in love with Soler, but good luck to them.

    Never imagined Ramos in a Rays uniform. I like the gamble by them.

    Pomeranz was relegated to the bullpen from 2013-2015 and did pretty well last year back in the rotation. Sounds like someone we could estimate pitching 180-200 innings next year if he's on some team's rotation. With Santana it's simply selling high after a good season, and getting out of the contract before that comes to bite the Twins. I think it's pretty risky to anticipate another great season from him. 34 years old, a lot of wear and tear on that arm, and a couple of clunker seasons in his past. Full disclosure, my ulterior motive is to find suitable trade partners for both Dozier and Ervin this offseason.

    I understand this argument. However, prospects traded away for Pomeranz could be replaced with other prospects obtained from an Ervin Santana trade.

    He's got 2 arb seasons left. Was making $1.35 MM in 2016... So he's probably on the same projection as Gibson? Maybe $3-4 mill for 2017 and who knows in 2018.
