  1. Concur on all fronts. When I first started on TD nearly a decade ago now all of our news were broken by regular folks like us. And forum topics brewed over time when more information came along. Times have changed now… You might be 29 still, but I’m going to be 34 next week! As much as I enjoy that type of stuff, the forums are mostly dead besides game threads. Because we have over a dozen article writers who will cover it way more than we will in a short amount of time. This site has been cyclical over the years. I’m likely not going to be a guy who posts as much as I did 7-9 years ago. I’m happy to see it grow as much as it has!
  2. Dollar for dollar, of course the bloated cable contract is going to be more than what they would have made primarily streaming. But there is no more growth to be had with the old model. People like me in their 30s and 40s aren’t going to go back to cable, ever. I wouldn’t have Comcast today if it wasn’t included in my association fees. The only time I use it is for Bally Sports and the occasional National TV NBA/NHL playoff game. If MLB can’t figure out how to navigate past the old model, the league is doomed.
  3. Minnesota residents watching this game today. Thanks MLB!
  4. Agreed. MLB would likely get the most bang for their buck making MLB.tv their exclusive platform for TV broadcasts and forgo negotiations with the 300,000 other streaming services. All of this is a mess right now. If the music industry can figure out the transition from physical CDs to streaming, so can sports media.
  5. That’s what I’m wondering. Whoever was responsible on the Twins side knew this was a possibility, perhaps a high likelihood of happening. And they took the short term cash anyway. Someone in the C level at 1 Twins Way doesn’t have a forward thinking mindset.
  6. Half of the owners in baseball don’t care to put a WS contending team on the field. They want to be profitable, try to get a new stadium fully paid for by tax payers, and watch their franchise valuation skyrocket year over year.
  7. I’m no lawyer, but now that the distribution of Bally Sports is cut by, let’s say conservatively 30%, wouldn’t Diamond Sports Group breach the contract so the Twins can opt out? Then again, the Pohlads/DSP knew this was likely to happen and still took the short term cash for 1 year… All of this is a mess. In the year 2024, we shouldn’t have to be pirating streams of our local sports teams.
  8. I’m fascinated to know what percentage of in-market fans actually have a service to watch Bally Sports now? Comcast customers (me included) have to make up a pretty size-able percentage. My cable box is essentially worthless to me without Bally Sports this summer.
  9. 12+ hours later and I’m still flabbergasted by the Penix selection. Atlanta clearly has no direction.
  10. Agreed. No hard feelings here. He wasn’t going to figure it out continuing to play for the Twins. He needed the wake up call sitting out all of 2023.
  11. Kwesi is COOKING! Love the pick of Turner. The rest of the draft is late round darts then I hope they go wild in UDFA.
  12. Man, it really goes to show how desperate teams are for a good QB. From a WAR perspective, the 14th best QB provides more value than Aaron Donald, multiple DPOY award winner. We’re seeing teams take their lottery ticket because it’s so valuable if the QB hits big.
  13. We’re going to see some defense studs at 23… Fingers crossed Byron Murphy slides to 23!
  14. No doubt this is a hand picked QB by KOC. I’ve got faith he continues to improve. And no doubt we have the best situation for a young QB to go to.
  15. JJ McCarthy! Without giving up 23 is huge
  16. Hahahahahaha Falcons. Suck it Kirk!
  17. This has been the most chalk draft in a while. No trades and it’s been pretty clear who the teams were going to take if they stuck with the pick.
  18. Not for the money he signed for. He’s Atalanta’s headache 2 years from now still owing him $40 million
  19. Takes 2 to tango. Sounds like ownership stepped in and said we want the QB.
  20. It was a long shot but that sucks we didn’t get the deal done for 3rd overall and get Maye.
  21. Last minute plea to make the deal Kwesi! Let’s get to 3
  22. Kiper is 63 and showing no signs of slowing down. Wonder if he’s got another 20 years in him to be a part of the draft spectacle?
  23. Disappointing that the dream to get Maye is dead. That was by far my most preferred outcome. I think I call the Giants’ bluff and wait until 8 or 9 to make a trade up for McCarthy.
  24. This. The Patriots have no OL, Osborn is their current top 2 WR, and the OC has no experience designing schemes or calling plays. Only Carolina last year has a worse situation for a young QB to go to.
  25. I’m sure they will, but that only makes the job more difficult to field a quality team around him before he’s either ruined or needing a $60 million AAV extension. I don’t know why they want to start the rookie contract clock now when they have no OL, no receiving options, and a 1st time HC/OC.
