    Left handed and breathing. He fits our need for another starter. Probably not a wild card series starter but nonetheless, a starting left handed pitcher for basically free.

    I wish we had our full arsenal of players available for this series. Regardless, this is a good test to see if the Twins can hang with the best teams in the league.

    Me too. We need a bulldog starter in the playoffs. I’m not so sure Kikuchi starts in the wild card series over Ryan, Ober, and Lopez. Eovaldi definitely does. Or at the very least is the fireman in the bullpen.

    A little over a week later, the Rangers are 7 games out of a wild card spot, 5 games back in their division. Houston and Seattle are likely to be big buyers at the deadline. I don’t think the Rangers catch either one of them, and should sell… The Twins need a bulldog starter that’s been there, done that in the playoffs. Nathan Eovaldi is that bulldog. Playoff resume: 17 games, 12 starts, 9-3 record, 3.05 ERA in nearly 80 IP. He would need around 70 more IP in the regular season to hit the $20 million vesting option in 2025. Not sure if he gets there. Top of the head math, he’s owed around $9 million the rest of the year. That’s the hurdle, which could be overcome.
