Maybe I’m thinking of a different tag, I don’t claim to be an expert. But Sneed was traded for a 2025 3rd and pick swaps in the 2024 draft. Burns was traded for the #39 overall pick last draft and swap of 5th rounders. That’s about what I’d expect from a Darnold tag and trade. Darnold to the Raiders for their 2nd or 3rd round pick and swap 5th round picks.

I don’t know all of the fine print, but there’s a certain type of franchise tag, I believe it’s a “non-exclusive” tag, to keep Darnold’s rights while they negotiate a trade partner. KC did that with their former CB Sneed who was traded to the Titans. And Carolina did that with Brian Burns who was traded to the Giants. That’s the route I’d take.

The last 2 offseasons have been incredibly boring. All we can hope for is new ownership taking over ASAP. It’s not exactly inspiring to be a fan of a team striving for 85 wins every year.

Playing around on spotrac's manage team feature... Here's a rough draft of what I'd like to happen for the first wave of free agency. Trying to use Kwesi's tendencies and his love of void years added to contracts. Re-Structure: TJ Hockenson cutting his cap hit from $17 million to $9 million by their conversion and 1 void year added. Release: RG Ed Ingram saving $3 million C Garrett Bradbury saving $3.6 million Free Agents: RG Trey Smith - He's 25 and every team is going to want him on their OL. My guess is 5 years $140 million. With most of that guaranteed and I'll pay up. C Drew Dahlman - 26 years old and finishing up his time in Atlanta. 4/$50 ish range. CB Byron Murphy Jr - 27 years old and with Flores back, he'll want to come back. 2/$20 ish range. LG Brandon Scherff - bring the Iowa guy back home. 1 year deal QB Daniel Jones - You're next in the KOC rehab program. 1/$5-7 million. DT Milton Williams - 4/$60 ish range?

As a neutral fan, I never despised the Patriots during their dynasty as much as I despise the Chiefs today. It has everything to do with the refs bailing them out time and time again. Mahomes getting calls that no other QBs get. Their OL getting away with false starts nearly every play. Travis Kelce sandbagging the entire regular season so he can be the playoff hero.

Given how quickly this came together today…. Would it surprise anyone if Tom Brady rescinded their offer after seeing first hand how awful that trick play was in the 4th quarter? Brady was mortified with that call.

Why Rob Manfred didn’t intervene immediately and say you’re absolutely not allowed to defer 98% of Ohtani’s salary is beyond me.
