  1. Wow, maybe kick back and enjoy the ride while it lasts.
  2. Well written article stating that Polanco is statistically entering territory rarely explored by a Twins infielder since Mr Carew. Hardly a preposterous statement.
  3. Lord knows we can't tolerate any diversity of opinion or thought round here.
  4. I'm guessing an incestual relationship between the ad agency and the Pohlads (ala the GO96.3 radio fiasco a few years ago).
  5. The ad labeled "current" is not history. It continues to play on FSN during every game. It's also the very top item on the team's Facebook page. Pretty sure the "Lumber Company" ads had zero effect on the on-field production. They were great, as were the "Get to Know 'Em" ads. My point being the current marketing campaign does not promote the team members/personalities like they did in the old days. This is one of the reasons that putting a face on the team is not an easy task and also one of the reasons for a decline in ticket sales. Twins need a new ad agency.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzBzhDXwUKo Classic! And exactly what they need to do again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHe32xIhwzY As oppose to this current campaign.
  7. I think the Twins have done a pretty poor job of promoting the individuals on this team post Mauer and Dozier. My 82 year old mom complained to me the other day that she doesn't know anyone on the team anymore. Maybe a new "Get to Know 'Em" commercial blitz is in order? Speaking of marketing, the recent team advertising campaigns have been embarrassingly bad. Last season's "This is How We Baseball", followed by this season's hot dog stand colored, kaleidoscopic, seizure inducers have been complete flops. Might be wise to get back to the popular Twins Territory type campaign that actually attempted to make a connection between the fans and the players. Might sell a few more tickets (combined with the improved product on the field, of course).
  8. I don't think they have a "face" at the moment. Someone might step into the spot as the season progresses, but I'm cool with a bunch of stars and not one super-star.
  9. Thanks to all this modern age technology there can never again be good pitching.
  10. I'm guessing Adrianza is DFA when Sano returns. Marwin and Tortuga can fill the utility role. Seems like they have been showcasing Ehire the last week or so to drum up some trade interest. Unfortunately, outside of his HR against Verlander, there hasn't been a lot of productivity.
  11. 12,000 fans is what happens when you don't produce for many seasons and fail to retain season ticket holders. Even with the excitement that is building with the current team, it may take awhile to recapture your audience.
  12. Malique Ziegler, the outfielder received in the Tyler Austin trade, doesn't appear to have been assigned anywhere yet. Any idea why?
  13. Given Ziegler's hometown is Des Moines, I wonder if the Twins will start him out in Cedar Rapids rather than Fort Meyers.
  14. Loved the post game interview with Marney. Berrios with tears in his eyes. That guy plays with so much heart and emotion. I think it hurt him a bit early on in his MLB career, but now that he has matured he seems to have learned to keep those emotions in check. He is a helluva fun player!
  15. Looked like a formidable big league lineup against the Red Sox yesterday. Should score a lot of runs and be very fun to watch. I'm starting to get, dare I say, optimistic.
  16. Anything with the "Kasota Gold" can go straight to the bottom of the list - even lower than the "turn ahead the clock" disasters.
  17. Here’s what Pohlad said regarding Joe Mauer’s contract coming off the books: “It’s not like ‘OK, we’ve got this money now, and we didn’t have it before, so we can do so much more. I don’t feel that way.” He continues to make stupid statements like this. Makes it very hard to continue to be a fan of his ballclub.
  18. I'm only guessing that the field manager gets to pick his staff. But I'm sure the front office has some input too.
  19. Similar pedigree to Brewers (now Reds) pitching coach Derek Johnson. Johnson did a pretty good job with a Brewers staff that lacked a true ace.
  20. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I'm positive this issue was covered in the interview process and that the Twins were satisfied with the answer.
