  1. Vargas did well in July and then went right back to being Vargas. I agree we should give him a real shot, but I imagine we'll move on after this season.
  2. yeah, true, but part of the reason they do that is because they know the pitcher is on a pitch count and the good, patient teams, work that angle.
  3. The guy who created, writes, and produces the series Fargo also created, writes and produces the Legion series. High expectations. Watching it tomorrow when I can watch in in peace and solitude.
  4. 932 intentional walks in 2428 games. That's LESS than half of ONE intentional walk a game last year. (.38 per game). I don't think making this change is going to make much of a difference in pace of game.
  5. 1. Baseball as a little kid, baseball as a teenager, baseball as a young adult, baseball as an older adult. Baseball till I die. Doesn't matter who is playing, I'll watch baseball. All other sports fall far behind. Hockey Football (only when my teams are playing) Premiere League/World Cup Soccer Tennis
  6. with my proposal, we would play AL East and AL West teams the same amount as we play AL Central teams.
  7. Each team should have to play every other team in their league 10 times. That is 140 game per team. Add 15 interleague games, with each team in a division playing a 3 game series against the same teams from another division (like NL East plays AL West) and the interleague division matchups rotate yearly. 155 games
  8. You can be optimistic and still not believe they will have a winning record. One might say optimism could manifest by predicting the Twins will have a loss number in the 80s as opposed to 90s or 100s.
  9. I never thought for a second he would be claimed.
  10. How long before Trump uses the Enabling Act of 1933? He is basically a dictator. The country elected a dictator.
  11. I would vote no on rule 1 and yes on rule 2.
  12. Trump is lashing out at Nordstoms for dropping his daughter's clothesline and Conway is pushing Ivanka's clothesline on Fox and Friends. No abuse of power there....
  13. i was talking about the fillibuster. Headline was pence warns democrats not to block vote on supreme court pick. I poorly worded it, but without a vote allowed, its basically blocking the nomination. but the point stands. Republicans will change the rules again if the fillibuster happens. Makes me wonder what stopped the dems from getting in President Obama's nominee
  14. So the senate needs 60 votes to confirm a scotus nominee. 52 republicans in senate. Trump has said if enough democrats dont confirm his nominee, he has recommended senate republicans change longstanding rules to allow the confirmation by a simple majority. Why are there rules in the house and Senate at all if they can just be changed whenever a party feels like it?
  15. that shipped sailed in November.
  16. Should google Jeremy Renner signing about Hawkeye's powers. Hilarious.
  17. And a lot of people viewed him as a DH cause they saw him play 3B.
  18. I guess it depends on what one looks at when considering what a pitcher needs to do to be considered an Ace nowadays. -Do we still believe ERA is the best way to judge a pitcher? -When talking about innings pitched per start, do we take into account the evolution of the game? I don't believe for one second pitchers couldn't go longer in games if the way managing pitchers hadn't changed /evolved so much.
  19. 3 year/24.5M is not a big contract. It's a rather small FA contract for a starting veteran player. He was worth over 9M last year and over 11M in each of the two previous seasons (and I doubt his pitch framing skill was included since it's based on his WAR which didn't have framing included). If he's not really a low 1 WAR player like Fangraphs says, and more of a 2-3 WAR player when taking into acount the framing like Baseball Prospectus attempts to do, then this deal looks extremely good for the Twins.
  20. That and his lateral movement is weak. Of course, when he does make a fairly routine play on a ball like, say, going three steps to his right, fielding it, then taking 3 more steps to stop his momentum to plant and throw (barely getting the runner because of his great arm) the play is regarded as awesome :-)
  21. Fisk better be a big part of Defenders.
  22. I'm all about Chicago Style. I almost never get thin crust.
  23. David Schoenfield said this about Buxton: 'Defense matters. And he finally started showing some of the potential with the bat down the stretch. He's not going to be the big star he was once projected to become -- too many strikeouts, not enough walks -- but he's going to be a nice player, a guy who is good enough to start on a playoff team.' http://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/77565/whos-your-mvp-weve-got-one-for-every-team
