  1. Have you watched Daredevil (both seasons) and Jessica Jones? If not, I'd watch them first.
  2. 'The Crown' and 'Luke Cage', both from Netflix. Then I eagerly await Season 3 of Fargo next spring :-) Goliath looks like it has potential.
  3. Stewart was a high 1st round draft pick (as was Jay who isn't even mentioned by Molitor, maybe because the interviewer only bothered to ask about Gonzo and Stewart). Seems the feel in the organization is that Stewart won't be a high end starter, nor Gonzo. So now what? BTW, this was a bad interview.
  4. Fine, but that's not giving up outs. In any event, while a guy like Buxton should have it in his bag of tricks, I'd rather see him swing away unless the 3B is playing way back.
  5. Well, he's very old school. He believes in giving up outs. And he very discreetly takes swipes at people who like Sabremetrics (and his in-game management seems to point to him not caring much for them). So, yeah, he's part of the problem. I notice he didn't point to mistakes HE has made.
  6. A lot of people like to blame Molitor for 25 man roster moves and I bang my head when I see that because it's the GM's job to create the 25 man. it's his call, not the manager.
  7. Good to know the focus on bunting is alive and well... 'Guys are a little bit more hesitant to give up at-bats these days to try to bunt. I can’t explain that. It’s a little bit of a lost art, as they say.' One explanation is that maybe the batters realize it's rarely a good idea to give up an out?
  8. Because of the HR thing, perhaps? Because he's outgoing. He's Cuddy's replacement, basically.
  9. More of a Duncan MacLeod fan myself. 'I am Duncan MacLeod, born four hundred years ago in the Highlands of Scotland. I am Immortal and I am not alone. For centuries we have waited for the time of the Gathering, when the stroke of a sword and the fall of a head will release the power of the Quickening. In the end, there can be only one.' Or, as he would sometimes say, 'I am Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod, and you are dead'
  10. It would be incredibly shocking to see Dozier traded. I think it's more likely he's extended than traded.
  11. Their steaks are that good :-) My point was, it's good to have patience, but it's not indefinite. Nor should it be expected to be indefinite. Additionally, when Mike talks about people saying it would be last year and/or this year when we'd be real competitive again, I'm pretty sure he meant people on discussion boards like this. Because a lot of that had been said whenever someone questioned Ryan's decisions (especially last year, when some even went so far as to proclaim that Ryan's rebuild was done). The timeline kept being moved back by people screaming have patience with Ryan's rebuild.
  12. Patience isn't unlimited. If I go to my favorite local restaurant (currently Timbermine Steakhouse), I wait patiently to get my food, because I know when I get it, it will be delicious. I'm not, however, waiting two hours to get my food no matter how good of a restaurant it is. We have been waiting a quarter of a century.
  13. I think people look at the Rangers record and assumes they are in the best shape, then say Indians for the same reason. I disagree. IMO, Boston has the best team in the AL with the Blue Jays right behind them. They play in the toughest division against the toughest competition. Makes sense they'd have a lesser record that the Ranger since 4 of the 5 teams in the ALE are going to finish with winning records. Boston sits at +173 differential, with Blue Jays at +85 and Indians at +109. As far as BaseRuns go, Boston, Indians, Blue Jays, Rangers.
  14. who are we trading him to?
  15. Yes, I'm sure if Mauer's contract didn't exist, Ryan would have signed an ace type pitcher with that money...and that we'd be winning right now. All Mauer's fault.
  16. FTFY :-)
  17. It was crystal clear, just letting people know who was chatting now if they wanted to join the chat.
  18. Sullivan was Friday and Dan Z (the ZiPS creator) is chatting now. Fangraphs prospect guy is chatting later today.
  19. I care zippity do dah about the Cardinals. But they've had one losing record this century (and haven't lost 90 or more since 1990) so they do some things right, I suppose.
  20. I am going to make sure I am in MN for this event next year.
  21. I imagine a lot of the people that were preaching patience in the last 4, 5 years will stop doing that now.
  22. and the defense, which contributes to the poor pitching. And lack of fundamentals...
  23. Sad that we could point to Gibson as a success story :-)
