  1. see, there you go...the RBI number by itself is definitely the best way to tell who his best with RISP. :-) like fielding % and errors tells us who are the best fielders and how wins tells us who the best pitchers are...
  2. now is the best time to let someone get their possible only look in the majors.
  3. Which guy seems like he'd be the better RBI guy, the first one or the second one? As far as what people think of Mauer, they used to always complain he never got 100 RBI, even though, as a catcher, he wouldn't play a full schedule like other position players. His career numbers with RISP is fantastic, but people would look at the RBI number by itelsef and say, never hits 100 RBI. Well, yeah, let's not take into account the people in the 9, 1 and 2 spot have an average OBP around .275 and as a catcher, he's playing like 135 games or so. Harder to get RBI that way.
  4. 'Between 1988 and 2013 there were a total of 537 seasons pitched by pitchers who were 22, and the total fWAR was 327.9. In this time span pitchers join major league rosters around age 23-24, peak around 26 with a sustained decrease in numbers from 27 on that gradually flattens out a bit around age 35.' http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2014/2/25/5437902/pitching-aging-curves
  5. So you want the player with a .294 BA and .838 OPS with RISP instead of the player with the .202 BA and .727 OPS with RISP as your RBI guy?
  6. that's funny!
  7. yep, almost never.
  8. Dozier is now 8th in the majors in WAR for position players. He's 6th in the AL, right behind the big 5 who keep being mentioned for AL MVP: Trout, Altuve, Donaldson, Betts and Machado.
  9. I think I said 78 or 79. I know I didn't have us in the 80s in area. Pitching and defense were always going to be killing us.
  10. Well, at least the defense has been consistent all year. Consistently horrible that is :-) In fairness, the pitching has been bad horrendous most all the year with the exception of April. We do have the worst ERA in the first half and the 2nd half. More consistency :-) For many of us, it was pretty clear going into ST that we wouldn't be competing for a playoff spot. The talent gathered by Ryan just wasn't there.
  11. I like this batting order. On a side note, Kepler has really dropped off. Still a fan, of course, been one for a long time, but his struggled are concerning. I hope his struggles can be chalked up to him wearing down.
  12. I don't know of too many people who saw 100 losses. Many thought we'd lose a few more than last year (mostly because it was fluky we won as much as we did), but 100 losses?
  13. I think the media under-estimated the large amount of talent we had in the 2000s (compared to the rest in the Central). We were always an afterthought, and every year we won seemed to be a surprise and they would say 'Gardy must be the reason because we couldn't have possibly been wrong yet again (over and over).'
  14. unfortunately, I think this call up is followed by being released in the offseason.
  15. Yeah, but they are so very good even at their age the drop might take a bit. And no Pedroia then? Dozier is about to join the 30 yo club too. In any event, I think there's a market for him. I also think there's no way he gets traded this offseason.
  16. Kinsler is tied for 1st in DRS for MLB 2Bs and Cano is 3rd. Might be awhile for them to drop off enough to be considered a detriment at 2B.
  17. Yeah, I couldn't agree with that more. We have a horrific rotation and we have too many pitchers that have contributed to that. Seems the decisions should involve, I don't know, releasing some of them? This depth of starters is one reason why May was forced to, and then continued to be in, the bullpen
  18. Um, errrrr, um...uhhhhhhhh.....ooooookaaaay
  19. I can see a clearer argument for him not being a starter :-)
  20. Verlander has quietly returned to true Ace status. His pitches are nasty.
  21. I think most GMs will figure around 3-4.5 WAR Dozier going forward. Which is still a very valuable player at a low price. Let's take the hypothetical that the Span trade turned out the way some thought it would, We'd hope for the same kind of return.
  22. Ryan and Molitor should have been a package dump.
  23. Leading off the game: .294/.294/.627.(.922 OPS) 4 HR, zero walks. 2016 overall stats: .279/.350/.576.(.926 OPS).
  24. Well, JUST a 4 WAR player is a fine player (All Star level) and worth about 32M a season. And he's getting paid way less than that.
  25. Unless Altuve wins it, and he probably will and should
