  1. What we lack in speed we make up for in slugging. Obvs.
  2. I for one was most surprised how slow Zukie is. Doumit slow.
  3. As I've said all along, this offense is a powder keg.
  4. This thread is a rorschach test. Not cool.
  5. Euphemisms…. this is just an April Fool's wind up right?
  6. Is this the correct forum for this?
  7. With winds blowing like that I'm glad we don't have Vance out there Two-hole = black hole. Barf. Go Twins.
  8. I cannot understand how you can write this yet still be an optimistic fan unless one is taking the extremely long view. It's a compelling argument for pessimism when I read it. It is a tuurible team. - Sir Charles
  9. Are we looking to add any waived players -- if so , who might be the targets? Just curious.
  10. Must be a whole lotta bad in this apple. Don't know how else to square it.
  11. What's the reason for three catchers on the 25 man this year? Will some kind soul fill me in? Is having three catchers a "thing" now?
  12. The wind also was relieved after 1.1 IP. Apparently.
  13. There will be a lot more of these threads this season I see, and that's not a knock on the OP. We are all grumpy and irritable mostly because of this team and recent news, and less because of posters' spellings.
  14. As someone in academia, this is unsurprising and par for the course. In grad school I had a professor tell us point blank: if you want to get published/noticed, you have be brilliant or controversial -- most are not brilliant. Thus…. say something crazy and get some attention. Most of my feminist colleagues would probably say this is to be taken as thought-provoking: to question and re-examine gender roles, eros, oppression of the proletariate (understood as the female class in this case -- or queer from normal (male)), and on and on, but would tell you privately that they don't personally agree with this sentiment. It's a silly mental exercise that is not informed by reality, other than of one's own imagination/making. Make no mistake though, this is not the only vein of modern feminism, but it certainly has numbers and acolytes.
  15. Imagine if Deduno could add a knuckleball to his offerings. Where the hell would that ball go!? I think Deduno and Worley make the team as #5/LR either way. Gibson starts in AAA, which I think his okay in order to get some confidence back after a horrible MLB call up.
  16. Suzuki>Fryer>Hermann>>>>Gray
  17. Booo! I'll say it again. Booo!
  18. I just wanted to be the 37th poster to agree.
  19. I'm not as optimistic as the OP's analysis thinks it leads, but all this is induction, a rational though imperfect projection. It would be helpful if you could explain why the bolded above are true in your mind. Let's see some exposition and explanation of this on your part. Regardless of the OP's past threads/posts this does appear to be a conclusion based on analysis rather than a conclusion in search of support. One can legitimately question the veracity and predictive power of WAR and WAR projections (both of which I am incredulous), but it is out there and accepted as an imperfect tool by many reasonable people. Regarding the Boston/MN comparison: Yes, I think it is unlikely that the Twins have wherewithal to spend! (wisely) on "elite" FAs to make a quick turnaround like Boston, but it's possible given that the Twins plenty of money available (though this depends on FAs available) and prospects available (if one wants to go that route). It can be done, but can it be done well? I'm in the camp that thinks it's time to start winning a little more now. This "rebuilding" or whatever we've been doing cannot continue in perpetuity.
  20. This is correct IMO. I'd rather have Deduno as the 5th man in the rotation and Worley be the long arm/spot starter until proven that both: Deduno is not MLB starting material and Worley is. All this with the caveat that both do make the 25 man. I'm more sure that Deduno will and not so sure the Worley can/will.
  21. Test. Redskins. Nope, the internets doesn't filter the word out. Maybe in N. Korea it would.
  22. That all depends on whether the stadium concrete has cured yet. At least that's what we've been told.
  23. Great article! I love the hybrid idea implementing small LED lights in the umps mask indicating only to him whether the pitch was a ball or strike. Actually, you only need one light -- a strike light. Ump still gets the final say but has another set of eyes to get the bottom and outside corner balls and strikes correct. Do it now.
  24. There is so much I cannot believe is serious here.
