  1. It's not worth giving up even a 2nd tier prospect for an aging Jose Bautista. Zach Granite has earned his way up here. Vargas gives some power off the bench and a better defensive first baseman than Bautista.
  2. Darn shame regarding Nicki Burdi. Hope he comes back from Tommy John better than ever. Persevere!
  3. If all three are retained, Dozier would remain at 2nd, Gordon at SS, and Polanco cold be Super utility guy at 2nd, SS and 3rd.
  4. Hope he works his way higher in the organization. Even if we have a new regime in the front office!!!!
  5. Gibson seems to start out well and then starts to make mistakes. Maybe it's time to consider Kyle for a role in the bullpen, where he can pitch in smaller sample sizes. He could thrive in that environment. That opens up a spot for Berrios, and puts Mejia on the hot seat for demotion or to replace Breslow as a lefty in the pen. Santana and Santiago are worthy to stay in the rotation, Hughes is looking like he's deserving of a spot. So, it's Gibson or Mejia in competition NOT to lose their spot to Berrios. Gonsalves is not on the radar for a big league call-up yet.
  6. I view Sano as the First Baseman of the Future. Someone from the glut of middle infield talent could then take over at 3B, If not Sano, other players can transition into 1B. No need for signing 1B of the future unless the Twins think he us a future Superstar..
  7. Gonsalves - How can a pitcher who is projected as a #3-4 starter be viewed as the Twins #2 Prospect? Either his ceiling is higher or he should be ranked lower. My opinion is that his ceiling is higher. I'd like to believe that Gonsalves' potential has been mis-underestimated
  8. I think the Twins DFAed Park because he was likley to clear waivers. If he clears, then he is available to contend for DH with Vargas and maybe others. If another club picks him up , then the Twins have shed a contract, where I suspect they think they overpaid. Great move.
  9. Buxton is the leadoff hitter of the future for this club. Dozier is best at #3 and Mauer should be #6 or #7 (unless he bounces back and has a surprising .300 plus year - then he's #2).
  10. Mauer's performance in the next two years is \dependent on his ability to stay healthy enough. And that is healthy enough to play well, not just to play. I am skeptical that Joe has this durability. However, if he can reach that level of health, he can put up numbers at age 34 and 35 like Mark Grace, John Olerud and Will Clark. A minimal power guy with decent ability to get on base and good fielding. If he hits .285 with 12 HRs and fields well - I'll take that for four games a week.
  11. I hope this trade does not turn out to be Abad trade. - Hey it's the last time that stupid pun can be used
  12. Depending on what we in return, I have no problem parting with Kurt Suzuki who could be very valuable to a contender down the stretch, so the Twins could get value in return. However, Kintzler is 32 years old and has been successful this year. I don't think the Twins would get much for him. Keep him around for next year.
  13. Alex Meyer's return gives Alex and the Twins to finally cue up some decent entrance music for the 6 foot 9 inch reliever. "I Stand Tall" by the Dictators. www.youtube.com/watch?=qFRmioelVaA Otherwise, save it for the debut of Loek Van Mil. Next call-up should be Berrios.
  14. No big loss. The Twins need to be ahead in the ninth in order to need a closer. I'm still there tonight in my Ultimate Warrior T-Shirt to commemorate "Wrestling Mask" Night.
  15. I really want to wee Loek Van Mil get a September call-up. Just want to see a Seven Footer pitch - no other reason!
  16. In today's Star and Sickle, Perkins downplayed his apparent loss of velocity in Spring Training. Maybe he's right and has an all-star year. Then again, maybe he plays out the rest of his career as a LOOGY or worse. In that case, maybe the Twins should start grooming Trevor May as the short-term answer at closer (and maybe one of their minor league power arms as the long-term answer).
  17. What? Nick Gordon is no longer an infield option in the future. Methinks that omission was by mistake!
  18. So, whom would you want as a teammate? The guy who snitched on his fellow teammate in high school for smoking pot. Or the guy who took a thirty day suspension and a financial hit in the draft rather than snitch on a teammate. This isn't a "Black Sox" violation, this is a fellow teammate smoking a little weed. If I'm a potential teammate, I like this guy's attitude! Gonsalves can be expected to have the back of his fellow players.
  19. But I think 5/2 odds are better than 4/1 odds. And I don't even gamble that much.
  20. So, it looks like all Korean players are injury-prone, since that guy with the Pirates went to the DL in September. Just kidding.
  21. Everyone seems to think there is aq choice between Plouffe and Sano and Sano wins. Plouffe, however, has proven to be very versatile, For Example - Why not trade Hicks and move Plouffe to Right Field? The Twins had below average run production in 2015 and cannot afford to lose their #1 RBI guy, Trevor Plouffe.
  22. Thanks to the Twins and Twins Daily for a great 2015. I'm looking forward to a great 2016 for our squad. The Twins have a lot of things they should do in the offseason (signing a catcher for the very near-future,, mentored by Suzuki, figuring out the 40 man roster and addressing the Plouffe-Sano dilemma) and things NOT to do (NO to signing more free agent SPs, NO to bringing back Pelfrey and, barring injury, incarceration or a horrible Spring, NO to looking for anyone other than Escobar to start at SS). I'm so optimistic, I'm thinking Mauer will hit over .300 again with over 90 RBIs, Dozier will start to hit outside pitches the other way, Tyler Duffey and Ervin Santana will tie for the 2016 Cy Young, Byron Buxton will win the 2016 Rookie of the Year and every other top ten prospect will become a perennial all-star before 2018.
  23. Trade one or two of the current starters, preferably for a catcher for the present or the near future. Open up some room in the rotation for Santana, Nolasco and maybe Berrios. The Twins need to think ahead or they'll be in the position Oakland was last year, when they just put Tommy Milone on waivers. I have to believe there are some teams in need of starting pitching.
  24. After 3 or 4 more weeks of success at AA, Terry should feel comfortable bringing him up. If he doesn't succeed, then he goes back to AA or AAA. If he does succeed, it should help the line-up. How about: Buxton, Rosario. Dozier, Hunter (DH), Mauer, Plouffe, Suzuki, Hicks, Escobar (Polanco???). This puts Vargas as a PT DH and power off the bench, Hunter as a fourth outfielder, and deserving or simply necessary back-up catcher as additional bench player. Depending on whether Polanco comes up determines whether the Twins stick with Nunez, Escobar or both.
