  1. I was kind of thinking along those lines when I typed the next sentence. As much as we love Castro and his versatility and all of the things he can do is it possible that the presence of a .700 OPS guy all over the diamond stagnates other guys who, with more playing time, might well end up being much better hitters, both than than him and than they themselves appear to be now?

  3. I love how fans just assume that new ownership is going to come in and spend money like a drunken sailor. And that doing so is going to somehow make the team successful.
  4. This had better be a mirage. I don't want to spend the whole season seeing every expert (and non expert) on this site eating crow.
  5. Be damn lucky to see a dozen. In a season. That's why teams with enough talent to let a guy like Rosario go manage to make the playoffs once in the ensuing four seasons.
  6. I love it when I tell folks that there are things analytics can't measure and the fire back with an analytic to tell me I'm wrong. Makes me feel like I'm conversing with Detroit Lions fans.
  7. Get back to me the next time you see a player on this squad show some heart. Do something that your glorious analytics can't measure. I won't be holding my breath.
  8. Funny how Twins fans clamor for ownership to spend money and then rejoice when they don't. On the best homegrown SP they've developed over a decade. There's a big step between THINKING SWR will take another step forward and SWR taking another step forward. My point was that he's likely to be passed by a number of others on the horizon. They could have afforded the Berrios extension. Would even have saved a lot of costly future moves by doing so. ONE year later they traded for Tyler Mahle to fill the hole trading Berrios created. Get back to me when that one pans out.
  9. So if Martin doesn't make the roster and if SWR has half a dozen kids on the verge of passing him in the rotation, tell me again what we gained by moving Berrios.......
  10. A year before Twins fans praised the FO for saving $8 Million by moving on from Rosario. The same fan base that is clamoring for new ownership and when they get will be clamoring for that ownership to start handing out Rendon type contracts.
  11. Funny you mention Eddie's best ability being his availability. Considering all the guys who have NOT measured up in that department the last four years. A virtual squad of iron men.
  12. I remember another guy with heart who swung at a few pitches not near the plate. He wore # 34. Actually, we have NOT been better since Rosario left. Our winning % the last 4 years is a hundred points below what it was the previous 4 years. And do I think it had something to do with Eddie and heart. God damn right I do. That and the fact the the current squad has ZERO heart. But sure why not keep it going in the same direction.
  13. But again, at the time Rooker was moved, NOBODY thought he would amount to what he has. He was just a throw in. A guy who for all practical intents and purposes wasn't going to amount to anything. 5 years after he was drafted he was always going to be looking up at Kiriloff & Larnach for playing time.
  14. Might want to mention INTEGRAL part of that World Series run. Something not seen around these parts in three and a half decades. But who needs those.
  15. You can give me all the metrics you want about Eddie but you overlook something he brought that no metric has ever been able to measure. Heart. Yeah, go ahead and tell me I'm full of ****. Even though this team may have been a better team in the time since he's been gone than it was when he was here it's totally lacked heart. And it showed. You can deny. But you'll be wrong.
  16. To your last point, and not as much in baseball as in football, but I always chuckle when people tell me that "you couldn't do better" and remind folks that most of the people hired into those jobs are fired within 5 years.
  17. Congrats to us. It only took 4 years to replace Eddie Rosario. With a group that is projected to finish 21 in fWar.
  18. I have learned that this business is much easier on our end than on their end.
  19. Just curious as to how you viewed that trade the day it happened. We're all pretty good a grading trades year later. Many of us find reasons to like the trades on the day they are made. I'm sure you can find me some screenshots of you panning this deal the day of.
  20. I always love all the talk about the Opening Day lineup and 26 man roster. And then I remember that probably a dozen and a half (probably a light projection) other guys will make appearances on said 26 man roster. The REAL interesting article to me would be one that projects the names who DON'T start the season on even the 40 man who end up playing at the big league level.
  21. Danny Goodwin was the # 1 pick in the draft. Twice.
