  1. One bad week,? They were 10-15 in July (when it mattered before deadline) and and slightly under .500 in June. With their disparaging run differential, and their youth, I think it was wise to sell marginal players for youth. I also think it's incredible how up and down we in this forum get after every win or loss (I know I shouldn't be as I've been on this forum for a while). We are buyers now? Crazy. Do we really think this team is going to hit to cover up for our terrible pitching? I don't. I would like it if they did.
  2. Did he put Buck in the leadoff spot? I thought he put him batting 3rd (which to me was even worse). I cannot remember for sure. I am not a Molly fan. But I also think he has slightly improved. I still think I'd rather try someone else, outside of the organization. We always hear about Doug Mientkiewicz on these posts. People fondly remember him. I fondly remember his glove. That's about it. He was a hot head, and a real pot stirrer in the clubhouse, if my memory serves me correctly. Especially when Morneau came up. I prefer we go outside the organization, rather than hire Dougy...if it gets to that.
  3. Some would argue based on the last 10 starts, that his decline has started...
  4. And I would also add that the national media won't blast the Twins FO. They see us as pretenders and almost always mention the large negative run differential...They probably are a little more objective than we are, of course.
  5. Based on Gibby's career, why would guys like Falvine keep him? He'll be 30 in October, has recorded an out in the 7th inning, one time this year... Gibson's career has been very bad. Not below average, but bad. These are the guys Twins need to let go and not keep holding onto, trying to squeeze one more year out of them.
  6. I think we are starting to see enough of Vargas to know he is a replacement level player. I'm not giving up on him just yet, but that ob% is a problem. I think eventually Granite v. Rosario is a wash. Granite, by all accounts, is fundamentally sound, and would offer similar value to rosario, although differently. One has a better ops, one is a better fielder and will have a more consistent approach. I think the key is, and we have not discussed it much, is having Garver, a rh batter, play first base and dh, while being the 3rd catcher. That way Molly may not be afraid to ph for gimenez. Having Robby and Mitch as DH/1b to spell Joe and also add depth at catching would allow for us to carry Granite, who could be a legit 4th outfielder/ pinch runner, while also finding out if he is for real at the MLB level. Something to think about...Vargas sample size is getting pretty big, and as Gleeman has pointed out, Vargas is a replacement level player.
  7. I don't think so. Del Rosario is a low A ball kid...my guess it would have to be someone more established...
  8. Stew, Were you able to see the bunt single awarded to Joe Mauer on Tuesday night at home vs. the White Sox? What were your impressions? I thought that should have been an error.
  9. We will see, as I have been following Russo...who is by far the best beat writer in town, and the most accurate and plugged in...
  10. Boy if that is the case that is way, way too much of an over pay to protect Dumba....my goodness. Personally I feel Haula alone had same value (if you can do that with a center vs. defenseman), then throw in high prospect Tuch...ouch. Then a #1? Dumba is a sometimes dynamic young defensemen, who at times is an absolutely a liability. Russo very confident Wild will trade one of the defenseman (probably Brodin) very soon after expansion draft... I guess we will see
  11. Thanks for that, making more sense now...
  12. If those are his slash lines this year, then how is he batting .273/.313/.771? I agree with Mike here, that you have to keep throwing him out there just simply based on ability. However, once we hit August and when his ob% is under .300 (which it will be IMO), then you have to create competition and reward players, especially older players (minor league ages) like Britton or Wade, if they are performing at high levels. I do think we tend to think Eddie is a better fielder than he is. He shows flashes of brilliance, but more frequently he has had confusing blunders. Molly sent him down last year because of all the mental mistakes and somewhat for his approach at the plate. Has anything changed that much? He is having one of his spikes of positivity right now at the plate, but I am thinking he kinda is what he is (or has been). We will see. No question the spotlight is on him now.
  13. I think you guys are possibly off a bit...with the celtics and all their picks, and the cavs, bothafter him, it will absolutely take Wiggins to be in that mix. http://www.startribune.com/would-you-trade-andrew-wiggins-in-a-deal-for-jimmy-butler/429652783/ Wiggins is good with promise, but he has been very one dimensional in his 3 years with the wolves... The article suggests it will take Wiggins the #1 and Dunn...wow, what a steep price.
  14. Thanks for clarifying. I still think that nobody brings back a major or minor league pitcher (that has potential) besides Dozier. Very few of those guys even brings back a reliever that is better than a risk, IMO. Very few. We usually seem to value our players/prospects (especially non top 100 prospects) more than others. To get youngish, controllable pitching (starters or relievers), you have to give up real prospects (like top 5) or established vets.
  15. My opinion is that none of those guys, besides Dozier, get's a starter....and with the 2B market the way it is, well Dozier isn't gonna get us what we all want. Listen, I want us to get more starting pitching too. I understand what you are trying to state here,, but nobody wants our average to below average players (which all of those guys are sans Dozier and hopefully Polonco), and if they do, it's for a relief pitcher (probably not a great one).
  16. Who are the many top baseball minds? I've seen Callis extol the Twins drafting prowess, but have not seen others say the Twins had a fantastic draft. I would enjoy reading more on this from other experts.
  17. Funny my mlb game cast said Cano got a single, hence the above post...guess he made an out!
  18. I hope Molly is quick with a hook here if it starts to get ugly...
  19. I could give 2 sh#$ about a local kid being drafted by us, and I am fine with us taking a shot at a star...truly I am fine with all that. However, we just all know how barren our pitching is, and Sano etc all, need help next year or the year after, so how did this help us? Thats what my gut says. I trust my gut.
  20. Agreed and seems to be swinging at any ball with spin on it, that ends up either outside the zone or low and outside the zone. These pitches are clearly not even close to being strikes. It's his kryptonite right now, and we won't see the average or his ob% go up until he can figure that out.
  21. I tend to agree with this. Even with his traditionally bad peripherals, Santiago was somewhat less of a train wreck than Nolasco. Gibson is another story. Gleeman has pointed out more than once, that he is the worst twins starter in our history, with over 100 starts...Plenty of sample size there. The Twins should move him down or something else, and go to plan D, E, or F for his spot.
  22. My guess is Rosario was already on the 40 man, so they took a chance on him...
  23. I am fine with taking Wright. I think it makes the most sense. However, I would advocate, or actually plead, that MLB network, the Twin Cities media, or the media nationwide all agree to never show Wright pitching in that specific uniform again after he is drafted...awful.
  24. Correct, my bad, but on a rope right?
  25. Revere with the "P" 7 bouncer to home...
