  1. I swear this team scores 70% of its runs on homers and outs. For crying out loud.
  2. This bodes well. Perez will have to pitch to Luis, or Arraez will happily take the RBI walk.
  3. Couldn't agree more. When curfews must be imposed, sports should not occur. If the statement from the Twins had referenced only public safety, no rational person would find this political.
  4. It's political because it clearly assumes a specific narrative. After all, the game would not have been cancelled had this incident not occurred, even though 2 other people also died in gunfire last night. Why does the death of this individual, mentioned by name in the press release, matter more than the death of those two other individuals, to the point of warranting postponement of regularly scheduled events? The answer is clearly because it's assumed that a white cop gunned down a black person for little/no reason whatsoever, a conclusion that (although possible) can't possibly be drawn right now. As such, the Twins organization is supporting a specific narrative that millions disagree with, and has largely metastasized along party lines--it is clear which side of the line the Twins have chosen to be on, as is their right as an organization. That said, it is political, and a non-political path could easily have been taken, for example if the release was something along the lines of the below; "The Minnesota Twins are aware of an incident between an office of the law and a citizen that ended in the citizen's death. We are further aware of reactions to this incident, as well as the ongoing trial of Derek Chauvin, that we believe have created an unsafe environment for our players, staff, and fans. We urge everyone to demonstrate respect for the justice system, and to allow a full investigation of the incident to be conducted before any conclusions are formed."
  5. IIRC, the game was on a Tuesday, so they had two days. I also assume neither team stayed overnight, nor were there any COVID concerns. It certainly is doable to move sporting events on extremely short notice, but I was reacting to the characterization of moving the series to Boston as making too much sense, which at least in my mind, implied straightforwardness/ease of execution.
  6. This is a terrible decision, and I responded to you at length last year when you first (as far as I'm aware) shared it. The link to my post is below. The belief that there is an epidemic of police shooting black people for no reason whatsoever is completely unsupported by any evidence whatsoever, regardless of what the Judge in this case wants to believe personally. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/40253-twinstigers-players-vote-to-postpone-tonights-game/?p=984767
  7. It's actually probably quite difficult. Does Delta have two planes large enough to carry both teams travel parties not committed to other schedule right now? Do they have full flight crews able to staff those planes able to get to them in the next few hours? Is there sufficient hotel space somewhere in Boston for the Twins to stay without compromising COVID protocols? Are the Red Sox willing to give up August games (with a chance for far more fans, and therefore far more revenue), for games where they might not be able to sell out even the limited capacity? Are the Red Sox able to staff their stadium on one day's notice?
  8. It's astonishing to me that MLB isn't set up to communicate when delays are happening, and why.
  9. Kepler career OPS against lefties--.653 Cave career OPS against lefties--.658 You need to rest Kepler sometime, may as well do it against a lefty.
  10. Garver has a career .887 OPS against lefties (.786 against righties). Even last year, when he was terrible, he still had an .819 OPS against lefties, which would be 9th amongst all catchers with 100+ PA's last year. If Garver isn't playing every day against lefties, and producing middle-ish of the order stats, he shouldn't be on the team.
  11. I wasn't saying it wasn't policy, I was saying it's a non-sensical policy in response to the LV tragedy, as it would have done nothing to prevent that situation. It's like attempting to stop carjackings by requiring people to use the club when not driving. It stops a problem, to be sure, but not the problem in question.
  12. This doesn't make sense at all, as the LV shooting occurred from a hotel room. They could have strip-searched every single attendee, and it still wouldn't have changed anything.
  13. Yes. Policies that restrict your patrons are generally not a good idea. If I show up with a diaper bag, am I still allowed in (even if I don't have a child with me; perhaps I'm meeting the person who does have my child, whom entered separately). What about small children that maybe can't sit still for 3+ hours--I can no longer bring a bag of toys/books to entertain them I would assume. Like I said before, if the idea here is to make lines go faster, just have two lanes, and let your customer decide. This is a needless restriction, particularly right now, as Nick pointed out above.
  14. What a stupid policy. Have one lane for people with bags, and one lane for people without. Then people can choose if they want to take the time to stand in line or not. I have to believe this policy makes it essentially impossible to go to a game with a child wearing diapers, or anyone else who needs to bring more than just a couple of things.
  15. I was assured our defense would be improved this year.
  16. Both debuted in 2016, but Berrios was in April, and Haniger in August. Thus, it is properly Berrios' number.
  17. Oh, on this board, someone will find a way.
  18. Totally disagree. His .500 BABIP and 100% HR/FB ratio are definitely here to stay.
  19. You know better than that Chief. Astudillo got the RBI, therefore Astudillo tied the score, not Buxton.
  20. I'm not sure why you're so surprised there, Britney
