  1. What do bread-loving waterfowl have to do with anything, other than free food at subway?
  2. That's an interesting point I hadn't considered. Well done you.
  3. Alternative theory--managers need to justify their multi-million dollar salaries somehow, so they insert themselves into the game for no particular reason.
  4. Sometimes Molitor seems to forget it's not the 1980's anymore. Interesting note: the broadcast team just mentioned that in bp the ball was jumping out of the park, particularly to left. So of course pull-hitting Dozier should not try to take advantage of that.
  5. Molitor's call for more bunting looking good so far.
  6. None whatsoever, just inquisitive.
  7. He abandoned his family, married a Latina immigrant, and started a closet company in Southern California.
  8. You think about dudes while in the shower?
  9. Don't look now, but we might have a ball game here...
  10. Except that on Tuesday the 30th you need a 5th starter, so if you send Gibson down, that means you're going with Wilk or Tepesch. After yesterday, I hope they go with Wilk, but that's sort of depressing to think about.
  11. No one is ever going to hit 1.000, no matter how selective. It's about swinging at pitches you expect to hit .400 on, so you don't have to swing at ones you expect to hit .200 on.
  12. GIBSON'S ERA IS BACK UNDER 9!!!! LET'S CELEBRATE!!!
  13. I think Gibson is definitely pitching with a chip on his shoulder. Unfortunately, that makes it real tough to get proper arm action.
  14. On 2-0, every hitter, no matter the situation, should be looking for a specific pitch, and if they get it, they should absolutely swing.
  15. Fair enough. I withdraw my comment as a response to you, but leave it as brilliant beer league softball strategy.
  16. Do you try to be as negative as possible in everything you do, or just game thread posts?
  17. It's hard to catch it when they hit it over the fence.
  18. Doziers value is built almost entirely upon his ability to hit homers while playing an acceptable second base. Take the homers away, and he is below league average.
  19. So just for fun, I'm listening to the Rockies broadcast--their play by play guy seems to think Chatwood is getting squeezed due to a reputation for walks earned in this game, and this game alone.
  20. I don't know that people think of them as useless, I think they're recognized as being out of the control of the batter to a sizable extent. I'd be much more interested in a stat detailing the rate at which a batter drives in runners in scoring position.
  21. I like the intro, but one question. You said drinking heavily wouldn't be good for your expanding waistline, suggesting your waistline is expanding independent of the drinking. My question, therefore, is--why not double down and drink heavily anyways?
  22. Can't be. I'm given to understand that number is off-limits, MLB-wide.
