  1. The Twins will never release a game attendance number below seventeen thousand. Those seats have been purchased every game by the Season Tickets holders. There will always be a few tickets purchased outside of the season tickets. We will probably not see an announced total below nineteen thousand. The actual number in the Ballpark is another story. My guess yesterday was 10 to 12 thousand at Target Field. You could count the number of people in the top deck.
  2. Going into year one at Target Field, the Twins raised their Ticket prices an average of 45%. The Twins gave two reasons for doing this. 1 The Team would now be responsible for the cost of operating their new stadium. 2 The additional Funds were needed to fund a substantially larger payroll. 100+ m Much of the anger and obsession with the dropping payroll comes from this issue. Despite last year's declining attendance, the Twins still enjoyed the 6th highest earnings in Baseball. Much of this can be attributed to the Twins high ticket price structure. The Twins had the option of continuing to be a small market Team with a brand new stadium. Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and San Diego chose this route. These teams brought their small market prices with them to their new stadiums. The Twins chose the other route. Jerry Bell proclaimed that the Twins were now a mid market franchise, the days of being a small market team were now over. When it comes to the price of attending a Twins game, a portion of that statement is true.
  3. I still do not understand why Mike Pelfrey was brought back. Can someone please enlighten me???
  4. Despite the bad on field product, the Organization was able to triple it's earnings last year. The Twins have the sixth highest earnings in Baseball. Things will have to get a lot worse before the Pohlad's get nicked.
  5. It was a sad day at the park today. There might have been no more then ten thousand people in the stands. Everyone was treated to bad pitching and a dead Baseball team.
  6. This is the Guy they wanted to ship to Korea???
  7. The Twins had a win, but their All-Star Closer gave it up. It's unfortunate that it happened so soon, but that's Baseball.
  8. There will be a big improvement to the walk up music.
  9. Are the wagering windows open? I would like to put $10 on Casey Fein
  10. Is this the last we see of 500????
  11. While in Florida, I was able to witness one of Bartlett's three spring training hits. We were trying to figure out which would be a rarer sight. Witnessing a Bartlett hit or spotting an Albino Whale from the Beach.
  12. It appears that the the extra revenue generated from a high ticket price structure is making up for a bad TV contract. Despite the low amount that the team receives from TV, the total revenue remains competitive. In 2010, the Twins had the 7th highest average ticket price (non premium seating) in Major League Baseball. The Twins moved up to 6th in 2012 and 2013. www.fancostexperience.com/pages/fcx/blog_pdfs/entry0000021_pdf005.pdf https://www.teammarketing.com/public/files/2011_mlb_fci.pdf
  13. I had the Opportunity to spend a few days at Orioles camp. There's some excitement about Juan Cruz joining the lineup. If I'm not mistaken, he was on the market for a while. A one year contract would have been perfect for the Twins. I guess, the Twins do not need any more power hitters.
  14. Estimating company revenues is not Rocket Science, especially for Forbes. Franchise valuation is much more open to opinion. At times, Forbes has been off on this.
  15. The Fans are paying high ticket prices to see very bad baseball at Target Field. The fans deserve to see an entertaining product on the field, regardless of what the future holds. " I'm not sure the Twins realize the amount of anger which is building towards their Organization" Patrick Reusse
  16. 2013 was a very profitable year for the Minnesota Twins. 2013 earnings came in at $30.2 million dollars. This ranks 6th in Major League Baseball. The Twins nearly tripled their earnings from a 2012 figure of $10.8 million dollars. 2013 Revenue totaled 213 million dollars. This figure ranks 14th in Major League Baseball. The Business Of Baseball - Forbes
  17. It's a shame that all the positive off season pitching moves could be washed away by an awful. lineup. The front office stated that the lineup also needed to be addressed. They ended up doing next to nothing. The front office was able to vastly improve the Pitching without raising Payroll. I guess that's a positive for them.
  18. Excellent commentary by Michael Rand regarding this topic. Thursday (On offense, Twins getting what they deserve) edition: Wha' Happened? | RandBall | StarTribune.com
  19. I have affection for 'em, but watching diminished Kubel, Bartlett and Guerrier is like watching a '90s hair band at a casino. Howard Sinker
  20. Antony can pop off all he wants, but the Management has done nothing to improve this lineup.
  21. I guess this would not be a bad strategy for fans who can switch to the Travel Channel after the third inning. What do we say to the Two Million Fans who are needed to spend money at Target Field? Please watch another year of bad Baseball, it will help the draft.
  22. Unspent money goes away and never comes back. Its not socked away in some rainy day fund. The Twins have repeatedly stated that the estimated revenue for the upcoming season dictates payroll. It's just not about wins and being in contention. The Twins owe it to their Fans to put the best and most entertaining product on the field.
  23. Unspent payroll money is not carried over from one season to the next. It's not saved for a rainy day. The Twins have stated that yearly payroll is determined by the projected revenue for the upcoming season. This years unspent money will ether go to a player(s) contract or Mr. Pohlad's pocket. Which should it be??
  24. How much of a Hennepin County Taxpayer subsidy did this particular business receive??
