    Turned off the audio feed. That 1.3 second delay was nasty, and the commercials were, too. Dick and Bert aren't that bad. And the radio guys aren't that good.

    Two quibbles with MLB TV: When I move the mouse, there is NO reason for the top and bottom of the picture to go dark gradient. Fancy, yet irritating. Second, the audio broadcast is about one second behind the video broadcast. Also irritating. Grr. How does a pie-rate show he's irate? Ar-ar-ar-ar-ar!

    Good news on Mauer, and I'm serious: He ground out to the SS, just on his side of second. That means he didn't ground out to 2B, which means he's learning to hit the ball back up the middle, which means he's going to mash more line drives up the middle, which means his average will be over .300 this season. All that from one swing, yes.

    Seems odd that mlb tv would block content you can get with a transistor radio. You could try using a VPN on your computer. Maybe if they think you're in Singapore, they'll let you listen to WCCO. ;-)

    Odorizzi throws no flames, but it looks like he has excellent command. I saw a really good two seamer bending left to right from outside to catch the corner, a good 12 to 6 curve, and he keeps his heat away from the middle. He also got Schoop on a couple high fastballs, so that's good command. Four inches high is exactly where they will chase.

    Now watching the game on MLB TV while listening to Gladden's call on WCCO. Not bad, if you like Gladden. So far, so good for MLB TV. No freeze ups yet. We'll see how that goes.

    Jose Urena hit the most batters in the majors last year. He has now hit three batters in the first inning. On a pace for... 162 x 3... 486 hit batters in 2018. If he doesn't hit anybody else today. Also walked in 2 batters and allowed a home run. Yeah, early season stats can be a bit deceptive. ;-)

    Hold yer hats, fellow baseball fans. First pitch of the baseball season just went over the fence. Watching the Cubs v Marlins. Good way to test MLB TV.

    I was ready to call 2018 another musical chairs season between MLB and AAA, but after they got Odoreater and Lynn, this squad looks very competitive as is, and if just a couple prospects arrive and contribute, we could all be pleasantly surprised.

    Eddie Rosario is the heart of the Minnesota Twins. Dozier is there too, but we all know he's a year from heading elsewhere, especially with the logjam of talent in the middle infield. That leaves Eddie as the emotional team leader. Rosie is notorious for flailing at anything white moving within a couple yards of the plate, but he has gradually toned it down, and 37 percent flailing was downright stingy last season. If he can just get it through his head that NOT swinging at pitches can put more pressure on a pitcher... sigh. As Buxton accumulates professional expertise in each aspect of his game, he will continue to get closer to MVP. Rookie year, he was a horrible, embarrassing bunter. Now he's a good bunter. As a rook, Buck's form on steals was terrible. Now, it's close to ideal. Fifty steals will be easy for him this season. Kepler is going to get better against lefties because he's Kepler, and Kepler won't tolerate not solving a mechanical problem. I would be very surprised if he doesn't improve dramatically against lefties this year.

    By my eyeballs, every time the Twins played KC, seemed like half the damage was done by Cain and Hosmer. I don't know how they could let these guys go, unless the money situation was truly dread.

    KC is in trouble this season. Cain and Hosmer both gone? Bleed half the air out of that tire right now. Twinkies are poised to make a run at the division with a hugely improved pitching staff. This team already had great defense and good offense. Now, they have the potential to keep opposing batters to a reasonable average. Are they as good as Cleveland? Not the pitching, but everything else is slightly better. If any of Romero, Gonsalves, May or Mejia arrives with gifts, that could tip the balance in the division.

    On paper, this is the best Twins pitching staff in quite a while. Everybody in the rotation has been a good pitcher, at least sometimes. Other than Hughes, there isn't anybody I can point to and bet that guy will struggle. Things could really get interesting around halfway through the season, when May, Mejia, Gonsalves and Romero all could be ready to contribute.

    I feel bad about Tyler Duffey, but he does need to work on some things. Hitters seem to have learned to read his stuff too well, and he still hasn't developed a good third pitch. I wonder if Duffey has some of the same release point problems as Ryan Pressly. Having only two good pitches isn't cutting it for Bender, one of my favorite Twins.
