  1. Sure, you can still come, and pay for the beer. But the Pohlads won't actually give you the beer. Curiously, the organ player stuck around, so there will be plenty of music...if you like Lady of Spain... ;-)
  2. The Minnesota Twins abruptly canceled the remainder of the 2018 season today after losing their opening game to the Baltimore Orioles, 3 to 2. "Crushing defeat," said Derek Falvey, who took the rap like a man. "I apologize to the Pohlad family for putting a losing squad on the field. I hereby submit my resignation." Falvey was quickly joined by the rest of the Front Office, plus all the Twins coaches and Paul Molitor, the team's Hall of Fame manager. Various players either simply left town or announced their retirement. Joe Mauer plans to start a trout fishing club, possibly hiring Kent Hrbek as coach and manager. "Fishing and golf are all baseball players know," said Mauer. "I'm too old to become a pro golfer, but I think I can still catch a fish." Fans concerned about refunds for season tickets are out of luck. The Pohlads are keeping the money.
  3. I'd still like to be able to throw a beach ball at 95....
  4. Wait a sec, let me look that up. Urban dictionary... Oh.
  5. Odorizzi and Addison Reed. Two very good ads.
  6. Gotta play all sixty minutes, boys! Drop the puck, the fat lady is picking up a microphone!
  7. They had the right guy up - Grossman is the stingiest hitter on the team, and he WILL hit bloop singles!
  8. Unintentional trolling? That's five yards and loss of down!
  9. "...buy me some crickets and acrobats?"
  10. Turned off the audio feed. That 1.3 second delay was nasty, and the commercials were, too. Dick and Bert aren't that bad. And the radio guys aren't that good.
  11. Sano between Judge and Stanton would be revealing. Both guys out-slug Sano...so far.
  12. A couple photos I'd like to see: Aaron Hicks standing between Judge and Stanton, and Sano standing between them.
  13. Two quibbles with MLB TV: When I move the mouse, there is NO reason for the top and bottom of the picture to go dark gradient. Fancy, yet irritating. Second, the audio broadcast is about one second behind the video broadcast. Also irritating. Grr. How does a pie-rate show he's irate? Ar-ar-ar-ar-ar!
  14. Shooting from the hip means aiming with your heart! ;-)
  15. Okay, admittedly I wasn't watching, but I heard the call on the radio!
  16. Good news on Mauer, and I'm serious: He ground out to the SS, just on his side of second. That means he didn't ground out to 2B, which means he's learning to hit the ball back up the middle, which means he's going to mash more line drives up the middle, which means his average will be over .300 this season. All that from one swing, yes.
  17. Ladies and gentlemen, we may just have a good pitcher in Jake Odorizzi. Pilates, baby!
  18. Seems odd that mlb tv would block content you can get with a transistor radio. You could try using a VPN on your computer. Maybe if they think you're in Singapore, they'll let you listen to WCCO. ;-)
  19. Odorizzi throws no flames, but it looks like he has excellent command. I saw a really good two seamer bending left to right from outside to catch the corner, a good 12 to 6 curve, and he keeps his heat away from the middle. He also got Schoop on a couple high fastballs, so that's good command. Four inches high is exactly where they will chase.
  20. Yes, high heat seems to bother Schoop. Odereater looks like he knows how to pitch!
  21. Now watching the game on MLB TV while listening to Gladden's call on WCCO. Not bad, if you like Gladden. So far, so good for MLB TV. No freeze ups yet. We'll see how that goes.
  22. Jose Urena hit the most batters in the majors last year. He has now hit three batters in the first inning. On a pace for... 162 x 3... 486 hit batters in 2018. If he doesn't hit anybody else today. Also walked in 2 batters and allowed a home run. Yeah, early season stats can be a bit deceptive. ;-)
