  1. Man, that K w/ RISP is creeping up on 50%.
  2. They would have gotten the out at 1st but still given up the run. Ended up not mattering, but still. . . .
  3. Did Rosario just walk? It must be too cold for him to swing the bat?
  4. Why did they have the infield in with 1 out a guy on third in the 2nd inning? Just get the out and deal with giving up the run.
  5. If his strikeouts are in the 150-160's range I think he could be a monster. But if he gets into the rare 200+ range the lack of putting the ball in play will likely negate the plus power from him.
  6. .270/.356/.530 (.886 OPS) 36 HR, 34 Doubles, 90 walks
  7. If 2014 hadn't been a trainwreck I assume he would be ineligible for ROY this year. But I get what you are saying. I still think he can and is one of the top ROY candidates. Look at his improvements from the first week of Spring Training until now. He still is Strikeout prone, but from "the eye test" he looks night and day better.
  8. I'm going to do this somewhat differently. I think Buxton will basically have two seasons within a season (Poor man's 2006 Justin Morneau type season). In 2006 Morneau on June 9th was batting .235 with a .295 OBP. Then against the Orioles he hit 2 HR's including a Walk-Off blast in the 12th inning. He then went on an absolute tear the rest of the season. So my prediction will be like this: First 81 Games: .242/.281/.396 12 Doubles, 5 triples, 5 HR's Second 81 Games: .278/.323/.459 15 Doubles, 8 triples 6 HR's Full Year:.261/.304/.429 27 Doubles, 13 Triples, 11 HR's Very Optimistic, but I think we should be about him.
  9. I'm not sure what more you are expecting. They have people down there covering some parts of it and writing stories. If you use the forums there is more than enough coverage (Kepler included) to get information from individuals writing on their own who are down their in FM or just following from afar. Also, this is more of a fan blog than a sports journalism site. The site owners do not have the access that credentialed sports journalists do, yet in my opinion, spew out 10+ times the information and coverage the newspapers do.
  10. I'm with the other guys. I think Duffey get's optioned to AAA. I also think Buxton get's sent down for some seasoning as well. Maybe a month, maybe just two weeks. But get him some confidence against AAAA pitchers and then unleash him up in MN. He seems to be coming around at the plate in terms of not striking out as much and his reaching base a decent amount in the last few games. Hopefully with some more AB's in Rochester he will be ready to stick in the majors.
  11. My issue with the defensive replacement for Sano in 8th or 9th inning is what happens when/if the other team still ties the game or takes the lead? Now the Twins just subbed out their best hitter for (Bench Player) and are tied or down a run late in the game and need his bat. It's the same issue I had last year with pinch running for him with 1 or 2 outs when he was at 1st base. I personally would take my chances with Sano in the outfield so he can still bat if he needs too.
  12. My prediction based on the few at bats I've seen him take this spring is he will try to become a more complete hitter. That means using the opposite field, which will probably mean a slight dip in power numbers but uptick in OBP and BA. .276/.334/.435 18 HR's 35 doubles.
  13. If I can count spring homers to my 20 HR projection, he just hit one today which is 5% of my projection for the year. Can I count Spring homeruns???
  14. They are essentially his last years numbers with more HR's 10 vs 20 (call it Dad Strength) and a slightly better batting average. It's more wishful, than predictive. I give it more of a 15% chance than a 1%.
  15. Call me crazy but I think Joe transforms himself into a traditional 1st baseman this year. I think the batting average will stay below .300 but something will click powerwise due to all of the other power hitters in the line as well as protection behind him with Sano, Park, Plouffe, etc. Prediction: .279/.340/.433 28 doubles 20 HR. Not the Joe of old, but a top flight baseman in my opinion.
  16. My gut tells me Nolasco makes the rotation if he can not be awful the rest of the way. As with last year, if he can just be OK he may become tradeable to an NL team once one of them has an injury. The Twins probably won't even ask for anything in return except for them to take him and his salary.
  17. Suzuki: .255/.290/339 20 doubles 2 HR's Murphy: .271/.300/.403 23 doubles 7 HR's and 1 Triple
  18. As odd as it sounds I'm glad Berrios didn't pitch well and get sent down. By not pitching up to his standards the Twins don't look like the bad guy in this scenario sending him down to delay his service time clock. From what I have read, it looks like he legitimately might need few starts in AAA to settle in and get his stuff under control. Sort of a Win-Win (Since he was going to be sent down regardless).
  19. I'm ok with it yet not ok with it at the same time if that makes any sense. As things stand now I believe he is one of the top 5 starters on the team. He is better than Milone and Nolasco. HOWEVER, he is also probably much better out of the bullpen than either of those two. So which makes the team better? May in the rotation and Milone/Nolasco pitching 4 times a week in setup? I think May to the pen makes the team better based on how the roster is currently constructed. The part I'm not OK with is they could have avoided this completely if they would have gone and got a viable late inning arm in free agency. Then Milone and Nolasco and May could have had a true competition for a spot.
  20. So which camp is Ricky Nolasco in? In theory he is an established major leaguer who should be working on building up for the season, but reality is he is fighting for a spot in the rotation and quite possibly on the team. The other question is, does he know what bucket he is in? So does he change his spring training routine to meet what needs to be done?
  21. Andrew McCutcheon is used as a comp a lot. I actually heard Terry Ryan use him as comp at one time. The Gomez comp is relevant for Twins fans because they both came through the org, and were rushed to the big leagues based on need. They also have similar tools.
  22. I wasn't comparing Buxton to Gomez, were you meaning to quote someone else? Although I do agree with your comparisons with Gomez.
