  1. What's with the old road greys?
  2. Will it be a package deal? The team that Takes Liriano also has to take Drew? they are a pitching team now.
  3. Still last and then still some.
  4. I've never been a trade Liriano guy. First I don't think we would get much value in a trade, especially with how erratic he has been. Secondly, I keep hoping that we find the secret to his success. Maybe we found it in his own personal catcher. I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but we can always dream. With Diamond, we may have to only find 3 starters for 2013.
  5. 5 runs on 7 hits tonight, why couldn't we get that kind of ratio yesterday. Diamond deserved that win.
  6. I know that Liriano is throwing the pitches, but I keep thinking that Drew is an equal partner in getting him out of trouble. That DP sure came at a great time.
  7. I am willing to have Drew's bat in the lineup every 5 games as long as he can get Frankie through 7 or 8 innings every game. Do you think that Drew has a calming affect on Frankie? Would Joe or Ryan have had as much success? It's obvious to everyone that it is a mental thing when things go wrong for him (guys on base). If all it takes is to look in and see Drew's face, that is a small price to pay in order to get a quality start out of Liriano.
  8. What awful fielding by the Rangers tonight. first napoli and now hamilton.
  9. Drew needs to show us why he is Frankie's catcher and calm him down.Get him through the fourth.
  10. Cruz didn't look lazy on that play in the corner.
  11. hate to see bennie get HBP. I don't know if I could ever get over being hit in the face by a pitch, even if it was more than a year ago.
  12. Nice to Morneau get a hit against a lefty. it wasn't a rocket, but a hit is a hit. He worked hard that at bat and got an RBI out of it.
  13. The ranger hitters look overmatched by frankie. (one of the best if not the best hitting teams in the AL and they don't look like they have a chance against him). I don't want to jinx him, but then it just changes in an instant.
  14. Why can't Frankie pitch 9 innings like this every game.
  15. Morneau will have no trade value by the end of the month. He will stay a Twin through the 2012 season. I don't think he will stay this bad against lefties for long, but we have given him more than enough time to snap out of this rut. The only solution is to start a platoon. When we face a left handed pitcher we move Joe to first, Doumit to Catcher and rotate through the righthanded options at DH. I really believe if Justin only faces righty's he will eventually heat up and start crushing the ball. the combination of extra days off and only facing pitchers he can handle should help both his mechanics and his mind.
  16. John, I think you hit the nail on the head. Range has had a much bigger impact than "the arm". There are no adjustments that came be made to account for range, yet as we have seen many times, the cutoff man has gone way out to help with Ben's arm. There really haven't been too many times that I feel Ben's arm have definitely cost us a base. Span and Ben in the outfield everyday, has really helped our pitching. They really need the help.
  17. I think Plouffe begins to press with men on base, as is indicated by his number of solo homeruns. I think he tends to relax with the bases empty. Just my opinion, but I don't think things would change much in the 5th vs the 6th spot.
  18. I like our lineup tonight. I think we are a better fielding team with Casilla and Carroll for the time being. Interesting that Gardy has no problem with 3 lefties at the top of the lineup, but insists on going righty, lefty, righty with Josh, Parmelee and Plouffe. I thought this would be a great chance to move plouffe to the 5 spot. Without messing with Justin's head.
  19. I agree, teams that feel they are only one piece away tend to overpay for that one piece. I would love to keep span on our roster, he is a great player and plays an important role on both offense and defense. That is why other teams want to add him to their lineups. The only reason to trade span is to acquire a position of need and to hopefully add more than an equal share during the process. We can always keep him and acquire our position of need (pitching) through FA, but many times it is much less expensive to move a valuable piece (span) at a time of heightened value. Span has considerably more value to a team as they head into a playoff run rather than he ever wood during an off season trade.
  20. SELLERS!! You didn't list any pitching stats. Pitching wins games. with the expanded playoffs, this should be a good year to be on the selling end of the transaction. I just hope Ryan makes the right trades. Good value for the players that we don't need or have the ability to replace in the near future.
  21. I think we will be sellers at the trade deadline. With that said, who can we afford to part with that other teams actually want. As has been discussed, it is a pretty short list. I don't think we should give up pitching, when the reason we are sellers in the first place is to accumulate quality arms. In my mind that takes Perkins, Burton out of the discussion. If we have learned anything over the last few years, it is sell high, which we didn't do with Delmon and Hardy. Even a month ago, Trevor was not in our long range plans. He has been a surprise to just about everyone, the streak he has been on during the last month has been all too real. Has he created any trade value? What kind of offer could we get for Plouffe right now? What if he hits 2 or 3 more dingers by the break? I haven't liked the thought of trading away Span, Willingham, Doumit or any of the other position players that should help lead us to a competitive club again, but Plouffe is another story. Do you believe that Plouffe will continue this level of play for the rest of the season and years to come? More importantly do any GM's think that he would help them in the playoffs? It would be interesting to hear some of the phone calls Terry Ryan gets over the next month. I'm sure there has been some feelers for Plouffe, I just wonder how serious some of the offers have been and if they will increase in value as the number of bombs he hits.
  22. Thanks for the link Jorgens.
  23. Butera has a great arm, I would match him up against any catcher in baseball in throwing out runners. If the pitchers give him a shot (holding them close and not giving incredible jumps), he will get them 50% of the time.
  24. It took a while, but they solved the chen riddle.
  25. Doumit is the perfect compliment to Joe Mauer. Add in the fact that he is a switch hitter and I love this signing. Now lets find some pitching.
