  1. I just checked and tonight appears to be a high demand game. Friday night in the summer, cool temps this evening and Joe Mauer Sideburns promotion, not to mention the fireworks after the game.
  2. I agree with Dave. Stubhub is the way to go. Even with the fees (10% on top of the total price paid, + 5.95 delivery) you will end up paying much less than any scalper would sell them for. Tickets are sold up until 2 hours prior to game time. Between 5:00pm and 5:10pm you will see some great prices. If they don't sell, most of the season ticket holders do not want to take to the streets. so they are motivated to get whatever they can.
  3. By keeping him in the lineup, it sends the wrong message. Have we mailed in the season or are we still trying to win games? Play Casilla, Masty or even Butera at 2B but don't play Nishi.
  4. Thanks for the link to the video Gunnar. Pretty animated catcher, hopefully Joe will be playing first base full time by the time he reaches the majors.
  5. The two cities from the article that caught my eye were Nashville and Memphis. Both would be a nice drive in the spring when nice summer baseball weather is a sure thing down there and we could still be shoveling snow. When I checked the distances though, it really isn't that much closer than Rochester. Nashville is 882 and Memphis is 830 miles. Althogh closer than Rochesters 1010 miles, it really isn't that much closer. Would many of us would really make the trip to either of these ciites, if we already view Rochester too far away? If you are going to fly, it really doesn't matter. If you are going to make a road trip of it and are looking for some warm weather in the spring or fall, then it may be enough of a change.
  6. Criticism should be aimed at Twins, not Tsuyoshi Nishioka From Mackey's article today. "Nishioka's performance this week was so bad -- save for a sac fly on Tuesday that drove home the go-ahead run in the ninth inning -- that even TV and radio analysts Bert Blyleven and Dan Gladden were more critical than usual. But as easy as it is to pile on the guy who is clearly overmatched in the major leagues, continuing to rip on Nishioka is missing the target entirely." I agree, this should not be another "rip Nishi thread", but instead as the title indicates "Is it time to just release him"? What benefit is there to keeping him on the 40 man roster. Does Rochester need a SS/2B for the remainder of this year and 2013? I think everyone is agreed he has no business setting foot on another major league diamond. I say write him and check and have him clean out his locker. His visit to the US is over.
  7. The only thing that would have made his day worse, is if he had gone up into the clubhouse in between innings, grabbed a beer and then tripped and spilled it all over Gardy's uniform as he was running back onto the field.
  8. What a perfect way to word it. I don't think I can add anything else to the discussion.
  9. You know who I'm talking about. I don't even have to mention his name. Once Bert and Dick turn on you, there really is no hope left. I say he shouldn't dress in a twins uniform again. Don't even give him the option of going back to Rochester. Just cut ties and be done with it.
  10. I'm almost 50 and I could have made the plays he screwed up today. I can catch a pop up. I think he has over 6 million in the bank, of course minus the amount he has had to give his wife in the divorce.
  11. Like the element of speed in our lineup that we haven't had in years past. Punto and the piranha's are nothing compared to what Revere and Masty have done on the bases. Every time they get on base, you know something is going to happen. They put pressure on the opposing defense. I really like our blend of speed and power. It is mainly brought by our 3 outfield positions.
  12. I agree, I'm not sold on Dozier at SS. I don't view him as an above average SS in the field or at the plate. Granted he is 25 and getting his first extended time in the majors. I really haven't seen a progression throughout the year. With roughly 90 AB's in May, June and July this is what he has put up at the plate. May .228/.247/.337 June .231/.263/.308 July .250/.296/.315 I think you can live with these numbers if he is a standout in the field, but I don't see a gold glove in his future. As I mentioned, he is 25 and may still develop into an above average SS. We will just need better out of our middle infield with our pitching situation.
  13. 0-5 and two errors on a night when everyone was hitting. I would have given him a 3rd error on his failure to catch Caroll's throw. I would sit him and wait for Plouffe to come back.
  14. Bad throw by Carol but how can Nishi not catch that ball?
  15. I think the quote was multiple eyes. So we can't just blame one guy.
  16. Bennie with his 4th 4 hit game of the year and will soon be 2nd in the batting race. This could be a fun final two months of the season.
  17. Nishi 0-5, with 2 errors on a night when every one gets a hit and we score 14 runs. Read into those stats whatever you want.
  18. error for Nishi? I agree with bert that is an error
  19. I actually dosed off there for awhile. Does that mean I'm old or just like a competitive game?
  20. Just so you don't have to look it up. Frankie's line today against the Angels. No decision, but the white sox came away with the win. 5 innings, 4 hits, 1 BB, 4 K's and an Earned run. 72 pitches total.
  21. 4 year vacation? Really? thanks for your insight into the discussion.
  22. Deduno is a joy to watch!!! Lets leave it at that. I too look forward to his next start. It's not like he is going to cost us a chance at a playoff spot with a poor showing in his next start. He is the kind of guy we should all be rooting for.
  23. Thanks for the trip update Seth. I appreciate the observations on the players. I agree with you, waking up the morning after eating a wisc. Cheeseburger has to be viewed as a good thing. Do they give you guidelines on the snapperburger? Mustard only or do they allow ketchup on there as well?
  24. I know this year, everything done was mostly behind the scenes stuff like new carpet in the suite area. I know as per the agreement that they signed when TF was built, they are required to dump a specific amount or specific percentage back in the facility every year.
  25. I hate AJ, but this is a none story.
