  1. What? You are in line to witness one of the better come from behind wins of the whole season. Just be patient and believe.
  2. I would make a terrible ump, I think they always look safe in those bang, bang plays and in reviewing in slow motion it was clearly an out.
  3. When he is in the lineup, maybe we should move him up to the number two spot. Looks like a natural spot for his abilities. Not much power, but can really handle the bat.
  4. Drew isn't much behind the plate, but the guy is a wizard with the bat.
  5. those 4 or 5 runs in the first make all the difference in the world. Frankie would still be pitching with a lead at this point.
  6. Nice play by Dozier. Dunn hit him a change up and he managed to stay with it.
  7. Frankie always seems to pitch better with a lead. Too bad we didn't come away with 4 or 5 in the first.
  8. Bases loaded and nobody out, Willingham and Doumit due up and we only come away with one run. That is more than a little disappointing.
  9. How long do we keep him in E-town if he continues to dominate? If he throws 10 or 15 innings of no-hit ball is it then time to move him up to the Snappers to end the season?
  10. What happens to his value if he throws a No-No tonight? Can we still trade him? Does that violate one of those unwritten baseball rules? I have always thought we should trade Frankie in that he is so inconsistent, but when I look at other teams pitching he is just the type we will be targeting in a trade. Plenty of upside and unfulfilled potential. I guess it all depends on what we get in return. If we get some real value, with players that will help us for seasons to come, I agreee with the trade. If we are just moving him to avoid losing him as a FA without any compensation, then I say keep him and see if we can come to an agreement on a 2 or 3 year deal after the season ends.
  11. Love Tori Hunter, he was one of my favorite Twin's and I still enjoy watching him on the Angels, but their is no room for him on our roster. We have plenty of outfielders even after we trade away one at the dealine. We have some very cost effective options at all of the outfield postions for many years to come. All FA money must and I repeat must be spent on pitching.
  12. No Plouffe in the lineup today. Carroll at 3B.
  13. Great discussion point. The Royals are currently the team everyone seems want to turn the twins into. As you mentioned, they have a pitching staff full of young power arms and high ceiling position players. Isn't that what everyone has been posting about? But guess what, they aren't winning many games. That is what matters. Everyone bashes our "pitch to contact guys", and long for the 95-98 mph fastball pitchers. You have to have more than just a 95+ fastball or Hoey would currently be our closer. Each of their relievers looked impressive last night, but we are the ones that ended up getting the "W". Granted, small sample size, but over half a season, they really havn't put it together yet. Will they do better in 2013? 2014? 2015? I would rather be a twin's fan and I hope they don't scrap the whole roster and start over, or we could turn into the Royals. Keep the core of players you know can contribute and add in the key pieces that are needed. If we 1) get lucky on a few FA's 2) avoid injury things could turn around quickly.
  14. Our struggling starter wasn't good enough for them? This would have been one of those great trades. Blackburn pitches for them tonight and we could have had Sanchez start for us. Just have them switch uniforms in the tunnel under the stadium and put duct tape over the names on the back.
  15. No doubt in my mind that now is the time to deal Frankie. His value on the market will not get higher than it is right now. We should get some value in return in a trade at this point. As smerf pointed out, he may be the best pitching option available this season as we approach the deadline. With his track record, I would be really hesitant to offer him a deal longer than one year. I know he has upside, but he also has a lot of downside and we have seen it all to often. How tied to Rick Anderson and the Twins organization do you think Frankie is? He seems like a pretty quiet and humble guy. Do you think that he would make his free agent decision based more on his comfort level rather than the dollars on the table?
  16. Very nice win, nice to see the guys come from behind with a bunch of runs.
  17. Perkins has plenty of trade value, but probably not as a closer. With only 6 career saves, I would not call him proven. I can't imagine a club in contention turning to a guy with only 4 saves on the year as their closer for the playoff race.
  18. 25 runs in our last 15 innings. One way to overcome not so good pitching. Don't think we can keep this up the rest of the season.
  19. Load them up for Justin. I'm sure a dinger would feel good right now.
  20. 3 hours and we are still in the 7th. When did we turn into the Yankee vs Sox?
  21. He signed the contract, everyone needs to just get over it. What if this, what if that, it really doesn't matter, he is on our team and is playing well. Let's all just be happy he plays for us and not the Yankees. I don't think anyone can make the arguement that he is worth a quarter of the teams total payroll, but how do we make this a winning organization with his contract, because frankly it isn't going any where.
  22. I agree totally. We need pitching, only give up what can easily be expected to be replaced. The odds of us finding another centerfield/leadoff hitter are much better than ever finding another righthanded power hitter. Everyone seems to have hit rock bottom because of the 3 game sweep by Oakland, but honestly nothing has changed. We have a competitive team with no starting pitching. Keep the competitive lineup and acquire pitching. We can be competitive next year (maybe not win the division) but competitive enough to be above .500 and be in the wild card mix, if we get some pitching. Spend some money and acquire them through FA, without trading away players we need.
  23. Did last night help or hurt his trade value? I really think it improved it for now. 15 strikeouts. He made many of the A's hitters look foolish. I have been on the Frankie roller coaster ride for too many years and I'm ready to get off. He has the best arm and the highest upside of any player on our team, yes and I mean player. He could be elite, one of the top 5 pitchers in the all of baseball and we don't have anyone else on the roster that can make that claim. He may turn into that consistent dominating starting pitcher after to moves to another team, but with his contract up there is no way we can give him $12 million. Make the trade while the demand for him is high. There has to be at least one team out there, that believes that they can make the changes in Frankie and turn him into the ace that we can all see glimpses of.
