  1. No Span, No Revere. At the time of both injuries they didn't seem that serious. Span finished out the inning after his dive. Is this a case of the Medical staff being overly cautious? I heard Gardy talk about this on Friday, he said the trainers take them onto the field and put them through specific routines and then it is in the players hands to tell them if they can play. Are Ben and Denard really that dinged up? Or is they just a case of don't rush them back onto the field when we 10+ games out and it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme?
  2. Crapps, there is a local guy that runs a site specifically devoted to baseball fields. He mainly focuses on Target Field, but he did a 3 part story on comparisons between At&T in San Francisco and the coliseum in Oakland last year. Here is a link to his site and part one of the comparison. I'm sure he will have discussed all of the questions you may have. Not sure you will want to read through all three parts of his review. There is a lot of information there. http://www.ballparkmagic.com/BayBall1.html
  3. Not a good outing. It also tends to play havoc with your ERA.

    Plouffe

Twinslover, I agree. He should not have returned until he started to hit. Why even bother sending him to Rochester in the first place if 0-8 is good enough to get you back in the everyday lineup. I don't like the message it sends. 0-8 is ok and 0-12 for the twins is acceptable now at the major lead level. I remember Plouffe hitting two balls hard out of those twelve, but it missses the point. You have to earn your time in the majors. If you need more flexibility, promote Florimon, give Parmelee some time at third. We are in the midst of a losing season, but we still have to try and win games. Does a guy that doesn't have a hit in a month, give us a better shot at a win this game or are there other options? Let's experiment a little. Masty at 2B. At least he has proven he can hit.
  5. I agree Seth. this discussion has been going on all season. I understand that they have to be careful about starting to limit his innings or start giving him forced DL stints, only to go on a losing street and miss the playoffs. It would be similar to starting your touchdown celebration at the 10 yard line only to be caught from behind and tackled before you hit the end zone. You have to make the playoffs before you can start worrying about how you are going to play in the postseason. With that said, I see it as a better option to skip every other start from here on out. What ever it takes to make sure he still has enough innings left for several October starts.
  6. I like the idea, but it all depends on what we get back. there have to be two sides to any trade. If we don't get a couple of good starting prospects, I hold on to Josh. I have a feeling that TR is holding out for such a deal and at this point, no one has come forward with enough in return.
  7. I don't think they get there without Cabrera. Timmy just can't pitch any more. I think the dodger's will come out on top of this one.
  8. I agree, but I think a lot of the timing had to do with the fact that Plouffe was on the DL and they still wanted to give Nishi a shot. They didn't want to field an entirely new Middle infield. Now that Plouffe is back, Nishi's chance has come and gone they can get on with letting some of the other things play out. For me it comes down to "what do you want from your middle infielders"? Defense has to come first with this team. Let the other positions carry the offensive load. Granted we can't have a .190 hitter at short, but if we can get above average fielding at SS I can live with a .245 hitter with little power.
  9. Very nice. Congrats.
  10. Casilla will be on some other roster next year. I like him as a player. He takes good at bats for the most part, is agressive when he is on bases and is an above average fielder. what's not to like? Viewed as an outsider he should be playing every day, but he is not. That shoud tell us something. Carroll was signed to a two year deal last off season. In my mind he has turned out to be an older version of Casilla. Slower, less range and hits for a worse average. Why did we sign him? Becuase Terry or Gardy made the decision that we couldn't count on Casilla. I have no evidence of this, but I don't think he contributes to a possitive clubhouse. There are cheaper options for a utility infielder, added to the fact that I don't think he is the ideal team mate, that makes him expendable. Just my two cents.
  11. What are the odds we see both Arcia and Hicks at Target Field in 2012?
  12. Nice inning for Burton. So is that a feather in the cap of Krivsky? He has really pitched well this year and I think he was the main guy behind the signing. Does that improve his chances of eventually succeeding Ryan?
  13. Nice inning for Burton.
  14. OK, I'll just come out and say it. Drew would have caught that ball.
  15. I was going to call it a quality start, but then thought better of it and deleted that part of the post.
  16. 11 hits through 6 innings for Blackie.
  17. Ok we have to bring up the good with the bad. 3.1 innings, 7 hits, 6 earned runs on 3 walks and 5 K's. I guess he pitches the same regardless of the uniform.
  18. Very nice throw, right on the button and not a lot of air under it. I think all of the revere haters have run for cover.
  19. Blackie doesn't seem to be fooling BJ upton with anything he is throwing up there.
  20. Lead the league in Double plays and still going. 2nd one tonight. We are doing a few things right.
  21. Good question, I guess I would say that Backie pitched well enough for us in the past to deserve a contract, maybe not the 4.5 he got, but he has pitched well for us. Nishi has done nothing in my mind to deserve his contract. So I feel worse about Nishi's contract.
  22. Masty, 1-1 in his career agasnt price. He's growing on me as a quality 4th outfielder.
  23. Too bad you weren't looking for Wednesday's day game. Tickets for 7 bucks and field box for only $20.
  24. I hope they don't move the fences, that is just another move they will come to regret. Just like removing the trees.
  25. A lot of teams passed on Jose Mijares for him to be claimed by the San Francisco Giants. He has actually pitched well for the Royals this year. Punto won a ring with the cardinals last year, will Mijares win a ring with the Giants in 2012?
